Newly sworn in as Mayor of Springfield, Jim Langfelder ripped into the Steppenwolf classic [”Born to be Wild”].
Mayor Jim Langfelder joined other citywide officials and the new City Council in taking the oath of office Thursday afternoon at Sangamon Auditorium on the campus of the University of Illinois Springfield.
According to sources close to the Mayor, Langfelder rehearsed the song with the band After Sunset the week leading up to the performance.
* I always pegged Jim as a bit of a geek, but check out the video taken by a friend…
Heh.

Geek in the best way! he studied up, and did a great job. from now on, I will think add a bit of Langfelder to a political situation in need of some personality.
Way better than Mayor Davlin’s nightly appearances in beer tents at the state fair. And way better than Mayor Houston’s reserved to the point of comatose presentations, not to mention no music after 10 p.m. downtown edicts. And light years better than his challenger in the mayoral race, who said that Rocky III (blecchh) was his favorite movie ever.

Me too. I thought he was pretty good in the video, definitely by mayoral standards.
Next? Maybe an “Out of Control” theme for Springfield CWLP’s addiction to power market speculation and extralegal property management.

The guy in the red jacket is one of the Mayor’s brothers. It was a very fun party.
