    YAWN….

  2. - DecaturRepublican - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:16 pm:

One of the worst ads I have seen. Very unprofessionally done in my opinion. I give the ad a F.

  3. - VanillaMan - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:19 pm:

Flynn is looking for an incumbent to beat, T.E.A. Party style. Problem is, LaHood isn’t an incumbent. This would be a fine ad if he was.

The fact that Flynn is running against LaHood using these claims indicates that he is trying to misrepresent this election. I don’t like that. OR - he really sees this election like this. IF that is the case, then he isn’t the guy to elect.

  4. - VanillaMan - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:20 pm:

    PS
I love cats and funny ads, but not when they lie.

  5. - Modest Proposal - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:20 pm:

I’m a Darin guy, but @decaturgop I don’t think anyone would give this ad an a, and rich didn’t ask for grades.

Its just a goofy ad meant to keep up interest in the campaign.

  6. - jls - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:21 pm:

Yeah, but it’s memorable to cat lovers.

  7. - How Ironic - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:21 pm:

When someone says ‘Watch this…it’s FUNNY’ I’m skeptical. This ad reinforces that.

    1. Not funny.
    2. Lame ad.

I hope Flynn isn’t banking on this to move any sort of needle.

  8. - Modest Proposal - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:22 pm:

whoops- next time ill read the headline… retract my last statement…

  9. - Bluefish - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:23 pm:

Flynn just ticked off the “crazy cat lady” wing of the GOP.

  10. - Wordslinger - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:23 pm:

Fat cats? Ohhhhhhh, now I get it.

Funny is not as easy as some think.

Besides the obvious and juvenile concept, the script is wholly dishonest.

Other than that, I’m not compelled to watch cats lick themselves. But that’s just me.

  11. - Send an angel - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:24 pm:

Solid ad and makes relevant assumptions about LaHood’s connection to the FAT CATS THAT RUN DC.

  12. - Politix - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:24 pm:

    Clever but classless.

I won’t be voting for Flynn, and I’m not really fond of cats. I still thought this ad was funny. Will it change anything? I doubt it. But I give it props for being clever and attempting to appeal to a demographic that, let’s be honest, is probably a bit different than the CapFax comments section.

  15. - AC - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:28 pm:

That’ll shore up the important pro-dog vote.

  16. - Team Sleep - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:40 pm:

What did I just watch? I want my 30 seconds back.

    F-

  17. - Jimmy CrackCorn - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:42 pm:

heh. ok. I wasn’t insulted by the dishonesty of the content, or blatant attempt at click-baiting with cats.

But I am OUTRAGED that they blatantly ripped of Bennigan’s logo for their own. A Flynn America is one of sub-par microwaved American-Irish food and employer-mandated “flair”? You know who else made people where flair…? (/snark/office space reference)

  18. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:43 pm:

    I liked…

The script “Flynn” at the end…

  19. - Under Influenced - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:44 pm:

I was expecting clever. The ad is bush league.

  20. - redhatman - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:45 pm:

Clever low-budget ad! The more I learn about LaHood the less I like.

  21. - Michelle Flaherty - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:47 pm:

Great, now I want to take a nap and cuddle with Darrin LaHood. Was that the intended effect?

  22. - OneMan - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:50 pm:

I kept trying to figure out if the narrator was doing a Will Arnett impersonation or not.

  23. - 47th Ward - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:51 pm:

    ===the script is wholly dishonest===

I watched it three times and can’t remember the script at all.

===The script “Flynn” at the end===

I noticed that too and thought, if he decides to hang it up after losing to LaHood, that would make a great tavern sign. Just add an apostrophe and call it Flynn’s, same style as Cheers.

  24. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:54 pm:

    - 47th Ward -,

Imagine the 16″ softball jersey too.

  25. - Anonymous - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:55 pm:

Yep. Pretty accurate considering how much we need another conservative of any stripe in DC. About as accurate as LaHood’s ads. LaHood won’t be able to do much and will contribute to the gridlock which is just what the fat cats order.

  26. - Northside City Dweller - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 1:55 pm:

For some reason my immediate reaction was to think of the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons….”and rest assured I was on the internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world. Worst video ever”

  27. - 47th Ward - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:13 pm:

Does he ever go by Mickey? Because Mickey Flynn’s would an awesome name for a bar.

  28. - Anona 49292 - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:15 pm:

I mean, it’s horrible but I screamed and cackled and watched it 5 times over.

  29. - olddog - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:18 pm:

Usually I’m a sucker for cat videos, but this isn’t exactly clickbait …

  30. - Gus - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:20 pm:

    If they’re going for “FUNNY”

    Well…no.

  31. - zonz - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:21 pm:

    yes, the indefatigable Liz Mair…
    Rick Perry
    Carly Fiorina
    now…Mike Flynn

  32. - zonz - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:24 pm:

    ps–
I did like the choice of font for “Flynn”

  33. - Amalia - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:24 pm:

F the internet loves cats, so fail.

  34. - Blago's Luxurious Grey Mane - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:33 pm:

So every person who sees it will have made up his/her mind months ago? Got it.

  35. - FEC Police - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:51 pm:

Better put a “paid for by” on that ad before you get slapped by the FEC. Probably need an “I’m Flynn and I approve this message” too.

  36. - 47th Ward - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 2:59 pm:

Now that I think about it, Fat Cats would be a pretty good name for a bar too.

    Is it 5:00 yet?

  37. - a drop in - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 3:28 pm:

The ad didn’t bother me. However, my rather hefty milky feline was not amused.

  38. - Ducky LaMoore - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 3:33 pm:

Thanks Mike for reminding us that there are other people on the ballot. With all the LaHood signs absolutely everywhere, most people had no idea. Oh this is a Youtube ad, so they still don’t.

  39. - A guy - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 3:45 pm:

It tries to be funny. There’s no impetus to watch it again or forward it along. It’s boring really. On the pass/fail scale….it’s a rare fail.

The only thing going for it is that his candidate logo looks like a beer insignia. There’s that.

  40. - Anon - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 3:59 pm:

Horrible for a guy that’s been around campaigns for decades. Not that I want him to win, but someone should tell Flynn that he can tear down LaHood all he wants, but unless he gets him below 4% in the polls, it won’t matter. Of course, Flynn COULD try to raise his own name ID at some point in the next what, to days before the election? but what do I know…

  41. - Anon - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 4:01 pm:

… ten days before the election. Typo.

  42. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 26, 15 @ 4:09 pm:

    - 47th Ward -

“Fat Cat” - 4840 N. Broadway; Lawrence and Broadway.

Hit the Google. See you at the far end of the bar…
