Well he is trying to be business friendly by talking up a business.

As a life long downstater (south of I-74 even), and a resident of Springfield for nearly 40 years, I must say I prefer my governors to actually do work and not just ‘promote Springfield’local businessmen. We have an excellent tourism bureau, thank you. It would be nice to have a governor that could accomplish both, but since that’s obviously too tall an order, I’ll take ‘governing’ over ‘folksy’ any day.
Congratulations on the win, but I noticed that the “shoe” recipe has eggs in the ingredient list, but the recipe itself doesn’t include the eggs.

Please, please, please tell me he does not manage his own Twitter account. The thought that he would tweet more about a breakfast plate than the empty plates in front of our children and seniors is repulsive.
Amen to Same as it ever was. People may not like how he’s doing his job, but he’s certainly doing exactly what he said he was going to do. If you think he has not “shaken up” Springfield, you probably forget that’s what he promised. Similar to the “out-of-touch” conservatives in Congress who have thrown a wrench into things. They’re only doing EXACTLY what they said they were going to do when they ran for Congress against the “establishment.”
Again, I may not like it, but I can acknowledge that this shouldn’t really surprise anyone…unless, of course, you expected the Governor to cave at the first sign of controversy. It’s precisely because he doing what he said he would do that I don’t see a resolution to this anytime soon - at least not until the Legislature passes a balanced budget and forces him to hack it up. I won’t hold my breath.
Eh, glad to see the Gov help a great Springfield business. Maybe now the Illinois General Assembly could start helping Illinois businesses by passing some reforms.
I would like to send my Congrats to Mike Murphy, & his staff at Charlie Parker’s Diner. Good job on winning the breakfast meal prize! It looks like the governor has a head start in campaigning for his next election.
I am sure that seeing a lot of the governor will only increase with time as more and more people end up at Illinois (Un)employment offices as his turn-around agenda continues to lay more and more people off and they have to see his picture hanging on the wall of those offices… (snark).
Wow, there are some really bitter people on this blog. Its cool he ate breakfast in town and helped Charlie Parkers by putting a few tweets out there. Just shows that some people will never see good in their adversaries. This is a feel good story that cost no one anything and didn’t distract from state business. Wish everyone that drives to Springfield supported local Springfield.
Bruce Rauner has no budget, no labor peace, social services are crippled, crumbling or decimated, state universities may not open for Spring Semester, water is being turned off, gasoline cabt be purchased… Rauner can’t meet… Until November 18th… to try to solve problems, while posting pictures on the Twitter…
Excuse me if I don’t see this as much fi as you, even if employees get a grand, wgat avkut all the people that lost services?
Face it, the man know what’s important, he just completely ignores it to focus on what really matters to him, breakfast horseshoes and high school football.
People need to put politics aside. He’s being Governor and supporting an IL business that just beat a Wisconsin restaurant. We can’t beat the Packers so we’ll take what we can get. Plus Charlie Parkers has great food.
This is so awesome! While women being beating by their husbands/boyfriends can’t find help due to budget crisis and being ‘leveraged’ by Gov Bruce “Workin’ hard at hardly workin’” Rauner, he’s got plenty of time muggin’ for the camera about an english muffin.
Yeah, a real profile in courage there Bruce. What a guy.
Meant to say “knows” rather than “know”. Spelling, and complete words should be important to me, but apparently they are as important to me as the budget is to Rauner.
Wow, the snipers are out in force today. To add to an earlier comment, like him or not, this Governor has been more visible in Springfield than the last three combined.

Glad he’s supporting local businesses and high school football. Fulfilling the side responsibilities doesn’t give him a pass on doing his primary job. It also doesn’t cover for why he didn’t provide his own balanced budget in bill form spelling out his spending priorities so that the GA could have something to debate/revise/amend and send back to him - you know, that process that puts everyone on the record and gets everyone’s fingerprints on the results?
– He’s being governor and supporting an Illinois business.–
Tell that to the vendors and contractors who are laying people off, running up debt and drawing down reserves from lack of payment due to the governor’s political strategy.
Not exactly a “business-friendly environment,” doing business with the state right now.
But if you make a nice tweet about one business, “you’re being governor and supporting business.”
Like the man said, some of the people all of the time……
And why the two different suits in the shots anyway? Just how much casual stoppin’ in to get his picture taken did he do on Thursday? Makes me wonder why he has so little open press availability most days.
How dare he believe in the private sector! How dare he support private enterprise! How dare he be a politician! And most of all, how dare he do these things while being a Republican!
