Oh no! This is serious, Governor. What are his demands? Has he done this before? I’ll have to Google, but does this happen all the time? What changed in 2015 that made it thus? So many questions. This is urgent. We must do something. We must find the chief executive of the state and inform him of this.

He’s powerless, like the rest of us. If only Illinois had an elected position with executive power, to counter-balance the iron grip of Mike Madigan’s legislative branch, then maybe Rauner wouldn’t be as weak, pathetic and powerless as he is pretending to be with stunts like this.
Shimkus doesn’t need Rauner’s endorsement. He’s taking one for the team by “allowing” Rauner’s endorsement. Rauner’s favorables are in the tank down there, and he needs an ally.
How many people in the general Illinois population know who Speaker of the Illinois General Assembly is as opposed to the Governor?? As the saying goes, “the buck stops here.”
Shimkus on Rauner’s agenda: “I also believed in term limits, until I didn’t. You know, a funny thing happened when I exhausted my self-prescribed term limit: I realized that I was still the best man for the job. Sorry for the fib, voters”.

I’ve heard it was just a one way event in which people listened to speeches. Apparently the vetoes that caused this whole train wreck just dropped out of the sky like a tornado. No one knows where they came from.
Rauner is killing EIU because of Jim Edgar, he and his team, cant swallow that a Governor from the 90″s has an approval rating in the 70’s and their guy cant even get over 50 percent approvals..
It’s evolving into a Mockumentary, but to the Rauners and their Crew, they’ll keep filming as long as we label it a comedy. The production meetings leave us all scratching our heads.
No matter how good you are, how smart you are, how rich you are- it can’t always, no matter what, be someone else’s fault.
I understand that a 4 year old has trouble grasping that concept but my gosh.
He simply does not care about students or the universities or the poor or the disabled. He only cares about busting unions and ensuring more money flows to the 1%. That is why I cannot understand the support he gets from some middle to lower income GOP voters in this area. He’s going to hurt them as well and they love him for it.
Odd that Madigan has been in power for years but it wasn’t until Bruce Rauner became governor that suddenly EIU became a hostage. I’m guessing that points the finger directly at Rauner, no matter how much he’s trying to dodge responsibility.

Fewer university programs and universities serving fewer students and fewer social services programs and providers helping fewer people in need and funded at a much lower baseline than before the governor took office.
Again, the “necessary shakeout,” as Sen. Radogno spoke of to the SJR.
The “hostage” situations are a ruse to disguise premeditated hits on these state functions.
The governor’s public posture — that it’s somehow reasonable to abandon higher education and renege on state contracts for social services unless collective bargaining is done away would seem preposterous.
Gov. Droppi G knows what he’s doing. This is all part of his plan: the systematic destruction of public higher education. He doesn’t like it, so he’s starving it to death. He thinks private education works better and only wants those who can afford it to be educated. Him, and his kind, do not want everyone to be educated enough to actually critically exam who/what they’re voting for. The dumber the population, the easier they are to control. He know’s exactly what he’s doing.
The many confusions of the Governor:
1. A budget is leverage.
2. I will never lose control of events no matter the level of chaos that the lack of a budget produces.
3. Voters will blame MJM for everything if his approval is still slightly worse than mine.
4. Politics is not an art or skill.
