Something that works?

* From 47th Ward Democratic Committeeman Paul Rosenfeld…
Hi Rich,
I thought I would let you know what we’re doing in the 47th ward. This is my first election as Committeeman, I’m unopposed, and we have no local races at all- except one judicial race. I still want to have a high turnout and I want to do well for our slate of endorsed candidates (i.e. Kim Foxx), so we created an entire voter mobilization campaign around our neighborhood public schools.
Last week, we put up 100’s of yard signs that say “We vote because of______ school”, a piece of mail hit with the same message (our local elected’s are all holding the sign) and our volunteers hit the doors saying “Rauner and the Republicans want to ruin CPS which will ruin our property values…”.
The result was last weekend we had the highest early vote total of any ward (the 13th Ward was second highest). Currently, the 47th Ward is 29th in weighted vote in Chicago based on last primary vote turnout. Today, we are in the top 5 in early vote/absentee voting.
I attached all our material. Thanks,
Paul Rosenfeld

Yes, it’s those evil republicans that want to ruin CPS and not the likes of Dailey that skipped paying into the teacher pension system for a decade. Good grief. What party again has been running Chicago for 100 years again?

Strong.

Durkan instead of Greenhaw for MWRD 2 year? That means punishment from the party, right? /snark

Ive worked with Paul in the past on issues in Springfield. He is a good lobbyist with good ideas. Anybody who knows him knows that his true love is politics. The success of this program shouldn’t surprise anybody. The energy he has put into the 47th ward has been amazing, and the organization he is building is the model ward organization of the future. Gone are the days of precinct organizations populated by patronage workers. Paul’s new 47th is smart and inclusive, and the results are there to prove it. He is a savvy guy, and has always been extremely competitive when it comes to elections. Great work, Paul!!

Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of other wards where you can replicate this, the neighborhood schools in 47 are actually pretty good and one of the draws for living there, in other parts of Chicago not so much. But still, this is smart and very effective. Good for Paul and the team.

Incredible stuff - been seeing the signs popping up all over the place. Not surprised that I’ve been seeing the Bell signs more than any other. Also got the newsletter and mail… inspiring stuff for those that don’t always make it to the ballot box.

Great stuff and approach, which should be adapted by other ward and township organizations as their situations dictate. The county and state party orgs need much more of this. But, Andrea Zopp?

Paul is doing a great job. If more committeeman on the northside were like Paul, Rauner wouldn’t be governor.
A big turnout in the fighting 47th is very good for Kim Foxx and bad news for Anita Alvarez. Personally, hope Paul gets the big turnout he deserves.

Paul learned from the master.
And now he will become the master.

How can the governor ruin what’s already ruined? That’s the whole liberal Democrat thing. Blame the Republican elsewhere for the problems their party has controlled and operated for a century.

RUETHE DAY @ 3:49: So now the circle is complete?

Everyone should listen to Paul. Everyone knows the Republicans are responsible for CPS. Everyone knows that Chicago’s excellent public schools are what’s driving population growth into Chicago. Chicago’s public schools are so great that Rahm Emanuel, Arne Duncan, and Forrest Claypool send their children there. Let’s not stop progress. Let’s have higher property taxes ! Let’s have higher sales taxes ! Nothing can stop us if we work together for bigger and better government! Strength through unity. Let’s spend $20,000 per pupil because everyone knows that’s all that’s preventing Chicago’s public high schools from being the next New Trier.

At the end of the day, your organization will be judged on the fact that the first name on your ballot lost by 50 plus points. Yeah… A model organization.

Voter mobilization because Paul wants a heavier weighted vote on the Democratic Central Committee.

Anon — do you think there are successful committeemen and party organizations who would like to hold less of the weighted vote on the Democratic Central Committee?
