* From the governor’s office…
Hi, Rich:
Please attribute the following to Lance:
There were many races last night where special interests backed by Speaker Madigan failed to defeat Republican incumbents and candidates who support Governor Rauner’s call for structural reforms that grow our economy alongside a balanced budget. Even in a Democratic primary, the Speaker needed to call in the President of the United States to defeat one legislator who dared to show a hint of independent thinking. But the primary elections are over and rather than issuing partisan press releases, the Speaker needs to end his month long vacation and begin working with the Governor to enact a balanced budget alongside structural reforms that grow our economy.
Thanks,
ck

Only took them until mid-afternoon to come up with their version of #winning- how cute!
Like its been said a few times today- a long 2-1/2 years for the citizens of Illinois awaits. Only way that changes is if only a couple of Rauner’s “independent” Republican representatives from college towns would see what their master is doing to their town’s (and their party’s) future and would vote for their constituents instead of living in fear of Rauner’s dollars (no matter how poorly he picks where to spend it).

Future Fake Press Release after the November Elections (assumes No Budget yet in place under the Rauner Administration):
Yesterday the Voters of Illinois delivered what Governor Rauner demanded. Twelve True Turnaround Believers. The Governor found the prior General Assemblies Republican members too numerous and too needy. They always want money for a new roof for a poor school district, or their local distributive revenue or permission to vote on the funding bill for grade schools, whatever. But there are only 13 Seats at my table for the Knights of the Turnaround Agenda, and as Governor, I get one. So having only 12 GOP members in the Senate and House is a YUUUUGGGEE win. Let President Cullerton and Speaker Madigan deal with all the logistics of dealin’ with 165 party caucus members…oh the noise, the beggin’ for do gooder dough, the humanity. Tough break Cullerton and Madigan, I won’t help you, I have no social agenda. I don’t want anymore than twelve GOPers in the GA, that is my goal, twelve! Again, yesterday was a YUUUUGGGEE win and confirmation everyone wants to kill collective bargainin’.

Hi, Rich:
The following statement may be attributed to Joe Buck:
There were many innings in the 2004 World Series when the Boston Red Sox did not hit soaring homeruns and shut down the offense of the St Louis Cardinals, the greatest team in baseball history from the greatest baseball town. The Red Sox were so desperate that they had to bring in a relief pitcher for Curt Shilling after he pitched six heroic and nearly flawless innings despite a torn and bloody tendon injury on the way to their four game sweep. Instead of popping the champagne, the Red Sox need to get back to work so that the Cardinals can face them in a World Series rematch in 2013.
Thanks, ck

@ Harvest76 “I guess it’s not a press release if you only send it to Rich, so it’s not ironic to call out Madigan for his press release.”
Just for the record, Madigan actually won something of meaning last night. Rauner got beat down, solid. So there’s that.

I just realized what this message is.
It’s a plea for help from the hostages.
Seriously, Rauner would be so difficult for which to work. Unrelenting expectations of towing the company line, regardless of the headwind, crosswind, down draft du jour.
The morale may be suffering. This message just did not have the usual vigor.

I read it as the result of a wee-hours election night wake that rolled right into an early jump on St. Patrick’s Day.

Good statement from Rauner camp. Probably drives Madigan nuts to realize Obama won that Dunkin race and not him.
