  1. - Pessimistic - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:01 am:

Had to click the frown because Madigan never smiles… Well, only when he turns into a bat at nightand gets some delicious fruit

  2. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:03 am:

    Voted “Frown”

    “Why?”

    I’m “frown” all day…

If you get the “smile” and “you’ll be fine” that’s far worse knowing it’s “coming”.

The “frown”? Madigan says much more with a frown, or keeps to himself the many reasons for a “frown”

Plus, the “frown” could also indicate the wheels are still turning and your demise isn’t up to muster yet. Yikes.

Or, the “frown” could just be Apple-Withdrawl…

    Yeah. It’s “Frown”. All day.

  3. - Honeybear - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:03 am:

    I don’t trust the smile.

  4. - Learning the Ropes - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:04 am:

Frown. “Smirk” I would have been ok with. But THAT smile… Unsettling.

  5. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:08 am:

    Speaker,

    Happy Birthday.

While your frown has many layers, I hope you smile in your special day.

I will partake in an Apple Cannoli in your honor.

    My best wishes,

    Oswego Willy

  6. - DuPage - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:09 am:

Frown. Since Rauner got in, no one has had much to smile about.

  7. - annonin' - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:11 am:

Picked Smile, because Madgian smiles all the time. Tribbie photags complain because they have folks tralin’ him all the time lookin’ for frowns and have millions of shots doin’ otherwise

  8. - nobody - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:12 am:

Frown-Who is the picture of the guy smiling supposed to be??

  9. - Century Club - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:13 am:

I think both are a little flashy for Madigan.

  10. - Belle - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:13 am:

    Frown
I couldn’t recall seeing him smile.
The frown seemed more normal to me.

  11. - Fisher - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am:

Frown - Madigan’s frown is his smile.

  12. - A Modest Proposal - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am:

I picked smile, because I think Madigan has some plan to capitalize off of this shenanigans politically. So in the end - he’ll be smiling.

  13. - Mama - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am:

Smile because there is nothing better than an Irish smile. A smile can ease the tension in a room.

  14. - Formerly Known As... - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am:

    Frown.

It fits his nature more than the smile.

  15. - Bogey Golfer - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:19 am:

Frown. Expressionless is his natural look.

  16. - Rollo Tomasi - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:28 am:

Madigan has just two words for Mr. Rauner:

    Dunkin
    McCann

  17. - walker - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:31 am:

Who’s the guy on the right?

  18. - Newbie - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:35 am:

smile, one can hide more behind a smile than a frown

  19. - Wensicia - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:37 am:

    The guy on the right.

    #FakeMadigan

  20. - the Other Anonymous - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:39 am:

    Frown.

I honestly believe that neither Rauner nor Madigan are happy about the state of the state. So, no smiles from either.

We might see that smile on November 6, 2018. But not before then.

  21. - Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:40 am:

    Voted Frown.

For the guy yesterday who said we pick on Rauner too much, at least the Governor can smile without his face cracking.

I saw a photo several months ago of the Speaker attempting to smile and it was…creepy.

  22. - OneMan - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:42 am:

Frown, I see him as the guy who thinks you should just shut up and listen to me.

  23. - A guy - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:53 am:

Thanks for captioning the “frown” as a frown. He proves the old adage. “If you keep making that face it will freeze that way”. It’s the normal expression for him. All emotions = frown.

  24. - JS Mill - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 12:08 pm:

    He smiles? Prove it.

  25. - Six Degrees of Separation - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 12:26 pm:

Smile, because it looked like a leprechaun.

  26. - Anon - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 1:03 pm:

I would be significantly more nervous if he smiled at me than if he frowned at me.

  27. - VanillaMan - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 1:06 pm:

    SMILE
I think it’s because I’m on heavy medication.

  28. - Tommydanger - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 2:01 pm:

I recognize the guy in the frown picture. Who is the guy in the smile picture?

  29. - Just Me - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 2:27 pm:

I don’t think I have ever seen the Speaker smile. I can’t even imagine it.

  30. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 2:40 pm:

    === I can’t even imagine it===

Oh, c’mon. He’s a human being, despite what the Tribune says.

He actually has a pretty good sense of humor, particularly after a couple of glasses of vino.

  31. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 6:36 pm:

This is the Madigan thirty-three cent coin, used to settle the re-map and other disputes. “Heads, you lose,” is the first image, followed by “heads, I win,” on the reverse.
