This year is so weird. Porter is a Reaganite–he worked in the Bush 41 White House–so Cruz (even with his many faults) is much closer to Porter’s views than Trump is.
That said, he *is* very anti-Clinton, and the Rs need to dance with who brung ya in the presidential race. And that ain’t Ted.
I had no problem with Ted Cruz last night. I’m not a Cruz supporter, but I could have dealt with him as the nominee. Not so with Trump. Cruz was invited/allowed to speak at the Republican convention. Seems to me he’s playing by Trumps not politically correct, say what you really feel rule book.
The GOP is ill, they might as well rename it to the Trump party- at least then the party leaders that stayed would be honest. As Reagan famously said’ I didn’t leave the party, they left me.’
Did she pose for that picture willingly and get paid for it, and it was published in widely available magazines? Then she can be called on it, First Ladies don’t run for office, but they still represent our country. Their past is relevant.
You mean the picks Trump had taken of his naked GF now wife so GQ could use them for attention when he wanted to run for POTUS on Reform ticket? Those?
How sad is it when telling folks to vote their conscience is viewed as slamming your parties nominee.
Wordslinger 47th +1 not sure I could’ve been that restrained.
Ted Cruz is about Ted Cruz and none else. He has zero respect for his fellow Republicans, so does he really care about party unity? That said, at least other prominent, anti-Trump Republicans abstained from attending this convention, let alone giving a prime time speech. Cruz should have stayed home as well.
When cruz’s message is nudies and that’s all he has I guess it’s fair game. Cruz started it trump finished it do you think Hillary will run GQ layout too?
Considering they’re apoplectic about someone telling voters to “vote their Conscience” I’m guessing a lot of guilt and regret. At least I hope that’s it and not blind cult like obedience to the Orangenfuhrer.

Trump called him Lyin Ted, claimed his father was involved in the conspiracy to assign ate JFK and said his wife was ugly.
Then he let Cruz have a prime time speaking slot on the second most important night of the convention.
Stupid is as stupid does.

I’m certainly no fan of Cruz, but I totally understand and respect his action.
Trump ridiculed his wife’s looks to the world, accused his father of being in on the JFK assassination and repeatedly called him a liar.
Where I come from, if you bring that mess, you’re going to spend a month in the dentist’s chair.

I’m trying to think of the Democratic equivalent of Ted Cruz to describe how hated he is by many in the party.
Maybe Joe Lieberman in his final few years?

Yep, no problem with Cruz not endorsing. Words have consequences Mr. Trump.

They lost party untiy when they opened by bashing Kasich, the popular gov of a swing state…. who they had been wooing!

Yeah, like that GQ spread would’ve NEVER come out otherwise.
Keep dreaming.

Mere weeks after slandering Ted Cruz, Cruz’s father and Cruz’s wife, Donald Trump gave Cruz an open microphone on live, prime-time television?
Putin would eat Trump alive.

Yes, it was such a show of unity that Heidi Cruz had to be escorted out of the convention hall by security for her safety.
What is *wrong* with these people?

Wait just a minute!
Papa Gingrich told Hannity last night that Cruz’s language was “clearly an endorsement of Mr. Trump.” We “just didn’t get his humor.”
That fixes it for sure.
