  1. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:01 pm:

All Pat Quinn is doing is reminding me why “Pat Quinn failed”.

I hope he passes around Chicago Mayor Term Limits petitions…

  2. - Anonymous - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:03 pm:

The living example of “love if you will, hate me if you must, but PLEASE DONT IGNORE ME…..pathetic for a grown man.

  3. - NIU Grad - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:06 pm:

Oh sweet Jesus. The sad thing is that it’ll be the same speech he always gives.

  4. - The Captain - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:07 pm:

Soy Boy’s coy ploy for old toy brings no joy

  5. - Anonymous - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:08 pm:

So desperately needy for attention, like a six year old

  6. - Bogey Golfer - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:09 pm:

At least the chicken parm will be good.

  7. - Skeptic - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:12 pm:

“How can we miss you if you won’t go away?”

  8. - @MisterJayEm - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:14 pm:

Well that will certainly be a thing that will have happened.

    – MrJM

  9. - Norseman - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:14 pm:

    I’d rather hear from Rich.

    Please go away Pat.

  10. - Give Me A Break - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:17 pm:

The former Gov Mike Madigan can’t control.

  11. - From the 'Dale to HP - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:19 pm:

One way to look at this is to roll your eyes and say ‘go away Pat’.

The other is to look at all the same jokers writing the same editorials and columns, day after day, year after year, for same newspapers across this state (or specifically the one on Michigan Ave) and say ‘why not, Pat?’

  12. - Morty - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:25 pm:

Pat Quinn elected Bruce Rauner governor.

Apparently he’s looking to get Rauner a second term.

Pat, for the love of all things you claim to care about, GO AWAY!

  13. - Daniel Plainview - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:27 pm:

For crying out loud, is he the first ex governor to give a speech at the City Club?

  14. - Ricardo - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:30 pm:

He’s not going away, people. He’s running. And Bruce Rauner is salivating.

I know they’re busy now, but I hope the Dem/Labor powers that be have a Plan-B in place if, as I expect, Durbin doesn’t run. If not, there’s a decent chance they’ll be stuck with Quinn.

Don’t underestimate Quinn’s ability to beat a big primary field of second tier candidate on name recognition alone. He’s done it before.

  15. - Earnest - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:31 pm:

All I can picture is a rematch between Quinn and Rauner in 2018. Please let there be an alternative in both the Democratic and Republican primaries. Oh, and I can also picture a really nice plate of eggplant parmesan at Maggiano’s.

  16. - IllinoisBoi - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:33 pm:

=Soy Boy’s coy ploy for old toy brings no joy =

    You wins the internets today.

  17. - Arthur Andersen - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:39 pm:

-Is he the first ex-Governor to give a speech at the City Club-

AA doesn’t have that data, but I do recall at least a couple ex-Gov’s who had “other commitments” following their tenure.

  18. - BK Bro - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:43 pm:

Sweet! A speech about continuing the failed policies of the past 20-30 years that got us into this mess in the first place!

  19. - Dome Gnome - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:51 pm:

Dude, I dunno. I don’t want him to run again, but he looks so much better than what we currently have. I’d chew that chicken parm just to be reminded.

  20. - phocion - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:54 pm:

I think I’m going to be too busy to go to that.

  21. - HRC2016 - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 12:58 pm:

Please Governor Quinn just stop and enjoy your retirement. I’ve always been a loyal supporter, but you’re starting to make yourself into a joke.

  22. - Anon poster - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:03 pm:

==I hope the Dem/Labor powers that be have a Plan-B in place if, as I expect, Durbin doesn’t run. If not, there’s a decent chance they’ll be stuck with Quinn.==

    +1

The Dems and labor can afford to lose a few seats in the GA this year. They can’t afford to lose the next governor’s race. Just not sure who that “Plan-B” is.

  23. - Quinnfan - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:12 pm:

That “E-Flyer” is very disrespectful - it should say GOVERNOR EMERITUS PAT QUINN

  24. - A worker - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:15 pm:

Geez, people, let him talk. He’s ok at that stuff. And if he passes candidate petitions like he passes referendum petitions, we’ve got nothing to worry about.

  25. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:15 pm:

“None of this is my fault. It’s all that other guy’s fault. Please take me back! Enjoy the veal!”

    *Wild laughter*

    “What!?!?”

  26. - Quinnfan - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:17 pm:

You can laugh at Pat, but when he runs again, if he asked you to be his “LIGHT GUV” running mate, you would all say “YES SIR MISTER GOVERNOR”

  27. - union - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:26 pm:

No, No, NO! He is the reason we are in this mess. I firmly believe more people voted against him than for Rauner. He could offer me the world and I’d still say, Go Away! I’ve wasted enough of my life trying to save that horribly run campaign. I will vote for anyone in the Dem primary but him!

  28. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:31 pm:

If the guy could stand up straight and look people in the eye, he would still be governor…..

  29. - Samuel Gompers - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 1:51 pm:

Pat refuses to “slouch into obscurity.”

  30. - Anonymous - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 2:10 pm:

Looks like email had the title wrong.

Leave the python. Take the cannoli.

    gadfly

    noun gad·fly \ˈgad-ˌflī\

Simple Definition of gadfly: someone who annoys people by being very critical

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gadfly

The Urban Dictionary has this: “Social irritants immune from pesticides and rational thought.” LOL

  35. - Trapped in the 'burbs - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 4:21 pm:

His speech should detail where the millions of dollars for his community outreach program, (I don’t remember the name) went or explain the raises he gave on the way out the door. He needs to explain his lame duck conduct or stop pretending to be a reformer and just go away.

  36. - Hottot - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 4:34 pm:

Whether you love Pat Quinn or hate him, we wouldn’t have gone this long w/o a budget, and AFSCME and the governor’s administration wouldn’t be on the verge of a strike. State bills would’ve been paid, and our backlog of overdue bills wouldn’t be as big as it is now. If the choices are Quinn and Rauner, even though I’m not a huge Quinn fan, I’d have to vote for him.

  37. - Chicago Cynic - Thursday, Aug 11, 16 @ 5:57 pm:

I just want to make the will of the people the law of the land. UGH…
