Another Kirk facepalm

* The Tribune on Sen. Mark Kirk’s latest thoughts about his presidential choice…
“I like him. I think for David Petraeus, the guy who won the battle against ISIS in Iraq … would be the best commander in chief for us,” Kirk told reporters.
He appears to be referring to the Iraq “surge” pushed by former President Bush and led by Petraeus.
* So, apparently Kirk has rethought his position on the surge. From Feb. 17, 2007…
Dear Friend:
Thank you for responding to our survey.
I do not support President Bush’s proposed troop surge in Iraq and voted for the House resolution that recommended against his action. The United States should increase the responsibilities of the elected Iraqi government to solve its own problems, while reducing the number of American combat troops sent overseas.
More here and here.

I was not very familiar with Kirk before this election (forgive me, for I am young). The more I see of him, I feel myself forced to ask this, and not sarcastically: Is he dumb? Is he a dumb guy? Every time he talks I find myself furrowing my brow.
For bipartisanship’s sake, I have not been impressed by Duckworth, either.

How. Hard. Is. That?

Why why why does he keep talking about this? Just stop.

Should have just said Jim Edgar and moved on…

The problem for him is this: When you try throughout your career to be everything to everyone, you end up being nothing to no one. I think his best bet for re-election at this point is to declare if he wins that he will change parties. Then when he wins just change his mind…its no big deal, he does it on every other issue.

Mark, I’ve got two guys I want to introduce you to after the election. Their names are Dan and Pat, we’re hoping you would joined them for a trip.

Is he trying to get the hang of ooda loops?
- sal-says - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 1:51 pm:
Apparently kirk never ponders why he continues to embarrass (or worse) to run in this race. Go bow out respectfully and retire.
- SAP - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 1:58 pm:
I like Kirk, but I think the best thing he can do for his campaign is to not utter another word until November 9th.

Dude. He acts like a huge hawk but opposed the surge? Wow

The great Mark Kirk has no time for your “consistency.” He’ll believe whatever he needs to believe whenever he needs to believe it.

Voted 2x for President Obama. And would do so again.
Will probably vote for Trump over HRC.
But I can not vote for someone like Kirk.

You’ll vote for the person whose goal and mission is to undo every positive aspect of President Obama’s administration?
- FearTheTree - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 4:48 pm:
Precinct Captain, I would support HRC over Cruz, Bush or Rubio, as they would definitely undo President Obama’s legacy.
But I don’t believe that Trump would do so. On fiscal policy, there isn’t much difference between the two. Both have vowed to not touch entitlements.
And on foreign policy, Trump is to the left of HRC.
- MSIX - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 6:55 pm:
=And on foreign policy, Trump is to the left of HRC. =
On foreign policy, Trump is in left field. Waaaay out in left field. He’s never said a single intelligent thing the whole campaign. Electing him to the Oval Office would be the most embarrassing thing the US ever did up to that point. But he’d find lots of ways to bring further embarrassment to the US.
- FearTheTree - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 8:14 pm:
MSIX, read about the 1980 presidential campaign. Many in the GOP establishment were absolutely terrified about Reagan having his finger on the button. And no US president has ever been the target of so many protests in Western Europe.
Most embarrassing thing ever? Probably Bush’s War of Choice against Iraq. Which candidate, Trump or HRC, supported that War of Choice?
- Tinsel Town - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 10:12 pm:
Please what credibility does Kirk have? None, zip, nada….
What was the lie he told about his own service?
