Mistakes happen

* Um…
A trade group representing small businesses has endorsed a slew of Republicans running for state office in Illinois and just one Democrat.
The National Federation of Independent Business has endorsed candidates in 59 state legislative general election races.
All are Republicans except for one. The group has endorsed a lone Democrat, House Speaker Mike Madigan of Chicago.
In a statement, the group which represents small businesses across the state, says, “these candidates have consistently voted or have pledged to support small businesses on the issues that affect their ability to own, operate and grow their enterprises.”
Except if you scroll down you’ll see that the NFIB endorsed Republican state Senate candidate Mike Madigan of Urbana, not Speaker Madigan of Chicago.
Oops.
The page is now gone.
And now you know why the Republicans are mostly taking a pass on that Senate race.
* Making a mistake like that keeps me up at night. This morning’s Capitol Fax, for example, had a line about a “Mac truck.” But as a subscriber was quick to point out…
And here I thought you were a man of the people, Rich. A Mac is a computer. A Mack is a truck.
I stand corrected, and I blame my computer.

You were thinking of the Big Mac truck. It runs on refined grease.

Polling that Bennett/Madigan Senate race must be a lot of fun. I would pay good money to watch a panel discussion where the Senate Dems pollster and the Senate GOP pollster just trade anecdotes from polling that district.
- Huh? - Thursday, Sep 8, 16 @ 11:42 am:
I thought the “Mac truck” was an idea for a new food truck serving macaroni and cheese made to order with all kinds of fancy pasta and cheeses.

Mike Madigan and the small business groups he controls.

Odds are, if you write anything, there will be mistakes. You hope to catch your own mistakes and correct them, or…
When putting out works, those works are edited for public consumption at the best level possible.
Commenting here? Between auto-correct and thinking yo fast for my typing, and without looking over my comments, I’ve made more than a few gaffes. Way more than a few.
You hand your work over to an editor, be open to changes and to the fact you will make errors like this, and correct things and move on.
Lots of names. Names are the toughest.
Just do better next time is all.

NFIB should endorse Speaker Madigan. He’s carrying their water.
Remember that minimum wage advisory referendum Madigan pushed on the 2014 ballot? A bump to a measly $10?
It passed with 64% of the vote. Polls show it enjoys majority support across the political spectrum.
Where’s the House vote on a minimum wage increase?
Where’s the hysterical tronclodyte tantrum on Madigan abusing his power to block the clear will of the people on a minimum wage increase?

Hey Rich - Don’t we all!
“To error is human, to really foul things up requires a Computer!” /s
- Chicagonk - Thursday, Sep 8, 16 @ 12:16 pm:
The other Mike Madigan should really consider a different career besides politics if he plans on staying in Illinois. Maybe Rauner can convince him to move to Speaker Madigan’s district and run against him in the primary.

===hysterical tronclodyte tantrum===
As OW would say, that’s restaurant quality.

Anonymous is right.
This is one place where Rauner should negotiate. Put together a minimum wage increase and worker’s comp reform. Not a tax increase (or a budget) - that’s not a piece of negotiation.

“thinking yo fast for my typing”
I so very much want to believe that was deliberate.

I wish it was intentional. Sadly, no close to it.
Me ignoring it, yeah, I let it fester instead of correcting. I’m only half as clever as I think I am.
You’re clever enough to pull it off.
On the clever side, I do think Rich found the winner. Wow.

A “trade group”. Code for someone who wants to cut wages, workmen’s comp, laws that protect that community and want to make a profit while begging the government to punish those who would compete with them….
“Trade Group” indeed

NFIB. A conservative, capitalistic, free enterprise group. until….one of their members needs a tax break….or an enterprise zone…or a political favor…..or a new road…..or a new bridge….or a rail spur….or a tax abatement….but hey, its only wasteful govt spending when the other guy gets it.

obtain useful data concerning my study and knowledge.
