Will they accept the results of the NLCS if they lose? The Dodgers have some bad hombres.

    Make the Cubs Great Again

  4. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:23 am:

The Cubs trail the Dodgers 2 games to 2.

  5. - Anonymous - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:23 am:

    I dont know those Dodgers.

  6. - Bogey Golfer - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:24 am:

=Will they accept the results of the NLCS if they lose?= Well the umps rigged games 2 and 3.

  7. - Anonymous - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:24 am:

    It’s rigged.

  8. - Anonymous - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:24 am:

    Those Dodgers are nasty people.

  9. - wordslinger - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:26 am:

Dave Roberts tweeted at 3 a.m. that the Dodgers were honored to have won the game.

  10. - A guy - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:27 am:

Watching both at the same time was a tough multi-task. Glad I did it though.

  11. - @MisterJayEm - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:27 am:

“the debate is the only thing that’s woken up the Cubs bats. We’re gonna need about half dozen more.”

Stop the bandwagon — I gotta get off!

    – MrJM

  12. - BigDoggie - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:28 am:

As long as they run the additional debates at the same time as the Cub games, I’m okay with it. Then I can feel justified in DVRing the debates and then not watching after I read all of the feedback that they were pretty much just more of the same.

  13. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:32 am:

“Nobody has more respect for the Dodgers than us!”

    *gropes the Dodgers*

  14. - crazybleedingheart - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:35 am:

    No pop-up. No pop-up.

  15. - Rabid - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:37 am:

Was Hillary’s earbud tuned to the cubs? That must of been why she spent her time smiling and laughing at the serious questions

  16. - Anonymous - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:45 am:

Hillary has always been a New York Yankees fan. Just ask her.

  17. - Rich Miller - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:46 am:

    Such a nasty ballclub.

  18. - Amalia - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:47 am:

the Cubs have not won the WS because Hillary has had 30 years and did not get them to do that.

  19. - G'Kar - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:47 am:

My understanding is that the Dodgers actually won game 4. But, Putin, the Russian Bear, ordered his hackers to hijack the scoreboard at Chavez Ravine and change the score in the Cubbies favor.

  20. - Keyrock - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:49 am:

Adrian Gonzalez did go on twitter to say it was rigged:
    http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-adrian-gonzalez-call-dodgers-nlcs-spt-1020-20161020-story.html

  21. - Double Nickel - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:52 am:

    Trump/Clinton, Munger/Mendoza……Cubs/Indians. Sounds about right.

  22. - RNUG - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:55 am:

Made the better choice; watched the game.

  23. - Loud Foul - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 9:56 am:

I remember a different time when Hillary appeared at Wrigley Field on Opening Day of 1994 (Rookie Tuffy Rhodes hit for three home runs, but the Cubs still lost to the Mets 12-8 — Rhodes wound up playing in Japan after it became clear that he could not catch routine fly balls) to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

One of the funnier memories of the game was the airplane with an advertising banner that kept circling Wrigley Field. The banner cited the beginning of the Miranda Warning and read “HILLARY: YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.”

Thirty years later, it seems as if nothing has changed.

  24. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:01 am:

===Thirty years later, it seems as if nothing has changed.===

I know. Some Republicans still feel threatened by powerful women.

  25. - Ron - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:05 am:

Trump was a train wreck from what I saw. No one is surprised though. Glad I chose to focus on the cubs.

  26. - Anonymous - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:06 am:

Is Hillary powerful in her own right or on account of her marriage?

  27. - Big Muddy - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:07 am:

The Cubs are about to delete something greater than 33,000 subpoenaed emails… a century plus of history. They won’t have to lie about how they did it either!

  28. - Amalia - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:09 am:

@Anonymous 10:06, dial back to HRC in 1969 and her commencement speech on the national news, and the 1970s with a presidential appointment running the Legal Services Commission, and chairing the ABA section on women, and election to the US Senate and Sec of State….jeez…..

  29. - thunderspirit - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:13 am:

I love the Cubs, but I can’t justify THAT price for the country.

  30. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:19 am:

Hopefully tonight’s Al Smith dinner is close enough to a debate for another Cubs W.

  31. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:26 am:

Just saw the whiny tweet from Gonzalez. It’s not clear at all that his hand was touching home plate from his picture and wasn’t clear to me from TV replays either. Looked like his hand may be hovering over plate but not touching it when Contreras made tag. Thus no reason to overturn.

  32. - Loud Foul - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:26 am:

    @Amalia and 47th Ward:

    Hey, whatever…

What I was referring to was the fact that HRC was under investigation in 1994 (either Travelgate or the Filegate scandals). Some things never change.

According to Clinton, Inc., President Clinton arranged HRC’s slating for the US Senate. Nepotism has never impressed me, but I must admit that it is an accepted norm in Illinois politics (Daley, Hynes, Madigan, McAuliffe, Stratton, Daniels, et al.).

  33. - Wensicia - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:31 am:

The Cubs insist on keeping us in suspense as to the final outcome of the series. How un-American is that?!

  34. - Rabid - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:38 am:

    Granny got game

  35. - Amalia - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:49 am:

@Loud Foul, some things never change, investigations that result in no charges.

  36. - PublicServant - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:52 am:

We’re going to build a wall, and keep the goat out.

  37. - Grandson of Man - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:57 am:

The Cubs won bigly (sniff). Bigly (sniff).

  38. - Jocko - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:57 am:

The Dodgers will let you know if they’ll accept the outcome of the NLDS.

  39. - illini97 - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 10:58 am:

    == PublicServant
We’re going to build a wall, and keep the goat out. ==

And let me tell you something, people. when Southside sends it’s goats, it’s not sending nice goats. These goats eat flowers, disrupt traffic and curse Northsiders. Some, I assume, are also nice goats.

  40. - My New Handle - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:02 am:

“… woken up Cubs bats…” Yuck! How about “awakened Cubs bats”? What passes for correct written grammar and word usage, especially from journalists, these days is very sad to me.

  41. - AlfondoGonz - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:05 am:

A nasty woman, a bad hombre, and 2 puppets walk into a ballpark…

  42. - JS Mill - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:13 am:

    The scores are wrong!

  43. - Stones - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:14 am:

Can the Dodgers bring Steve Garvey out of retirement for this series?

  44. - Casual observer - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:14 am:

It’s obvious the Cubs were given the Dodger’s game plan before the game. Crooked Cubs.

  45. - West Side The Best Side - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:17 am:

Where, upon entering the ballpark, the nasty woman, bad hombre and two puppets are met by two Corinthians…

  46. - "W" flag - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:19 am:

It is a best of three series now. For all of the small businesses, the bar tenders, the waiters and waitresses, the pizza delivery drivers, I hope that this keeps going.

While I would not predict the outcome of the NLCS yet, Cleveland will have six days in which to rest up for the World Series.

A “Rust Belt Series” between the Windy City (Chicago) and the Forest City (Cleveland) would be novel as both the Cubs and Indians have the longest streaks without a World Series title in their respective leagues. Chicago (N) 1908; Cleveland (A) 1948.

  47. - "W" flag - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:22 am:

The 1948 Indians were Bill Veeck’s team and Lou Boudreau was the player/manager.

Veeck and Boudreau both had strong ties to Chicago baseball and Boudreau was on an Illini National Champion Basketball team also.

  48. - walker - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:31 am:

“Boy, I wish I could take that pitch back.”

  49. - Anonymous - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:38 am:

The Cubs for President - 2016!

  50. - Federalist - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 11:46 am:

Thank you to those who posted and kept it about the ball game and ball game only. Others- not so much.

  51. - Clark - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 12:09 pm:

Adrian Gonzalez was safe! The review in New York was rigged!

  52. - Rabid - Thursday, Oct 20, 16 @ 12:21 pm:

The cubs need 6 more presidential debates to win. Do up think there both to old to handle it?
