A 48-year-old Murphysboro man has been charged with intimidation and resisting a peace officer in connection with an alleged threat on Monday to burn items inside the Republican Committee Office in Murphysboro.
Robin Leon Little was charged with one count of intimidation, a Class 3 felony; one count of resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor; and one count of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor, according to a news release from Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael C. Carr. Little was taken into custody on Monday.
According to court documents filed by Carr, Little communicated to Teresa Easton that he would burn items inside the Republican Committee Office, at 1332 Walnut St.
When Sgt. Timothy Legere tried to arrest Little, he ran from the officer and “then struggled and fought with the officer,” according to the complaint.
*** UPDATE *** With a hat tip to a commenter…
Jackson County Republican Chairperson Gloria Campos claims Little was pounding his fists on the walls of the headquarters, and making physical threats toward Illinois State Representative Terri Bryant (R) Murphysboro, and U.S. Congressman Mike Bost (R) Murphysboro. […]
Three days after Little was arrested, officials are calling a fire “suspicious” after it burned a Department of Human Services office just up the road from the republican headquarters.
The building houses the DHS office, as well as the offices of Bryant, and State Senator David Luechtefeld (R) Okawville.
Roberts says that as of October 20th, investigators have not confirmed any correlation between the two incidents.
The fire is considered ’suspicious’ according to Manko, but Roberts says there is currently no indication of political motivation.

I think Trump encourage acts of violence. The public is very mad at the politicians this year due to lack of jobs and lack of good paying jobs, etc..

Glad they caught the guy. Awful.
Be safe, y’all. No one should be fearing for their life being part of a campaign.

This is from another article on it. Sounds like this guy and maybe others connected are mad at “government” in general. I don’t know, maybe. Regardless, this makes me nervous. It’s also why I thank God Rauner is requesting the foodstamp work requirement waiver.

Our governor is not helping to make IL better for a lot of people. Rauner’s ‘Right to Work’ will only make things worse for IL.

Sheesh!. I just commented in another thread that people in southern Illinois are not ignorant. This guy’s the exception; he doesn’t count.

It seems we see less of this since restaurants and bars ditched their ash trays and don’t give away matches anymore. /s
Any intimidation by whoever to whomever should be prosecuted aggressively. Make them understand that it will always be taken seriously. That’ll leave us with just the truly creepy creeps. Deal with them even more severely. Threatening fires is nasty. A lot of people in these places are elderly and handicapped people who are limited to clerical and phone work. Not funny. Pinch ‘em hard.

In a similar but much more humorous vein this article link is about an unfortunate misguided election related act of civil disobedience in our neighbor state to the north. It is so pathetic/funny/sad I hope Rich will allow it.

Apparently crazed individual threatens arson, so let’s all find ways to justify their actions. How about let’s not?

Ron Burgundy you got me thinking though. I had a pretty mentally messed up elderly woman in my interview booth once and she told me she was going to go see _______(every single rep, senator and even the Governor) She new them all! So actually I can see how if he was rebuffed by the Rep that he would make threats. This woman was mad because I wouldn’t count milk and cereal purchased at Walgreens towards her Medicaid Spenddown. ( it has to be an actual medical expense) She stormed out of my booth. I’m not trying to justify his actions but I can sure see it happening. I suspect this was not politically motivated.

He was making physical threats toward Illinois State Representative Terri Bryant (R) Murphysboro, and U.S. Congressman Mike Bost (R) Murphysboro? Wow! How many people can name their state rep and congress person anyway!
