*** UPDATED x1 *** Everybody wants to get into the act

Monday, Oct 24, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller

* From the twitters…

I wouldn’t recommend looking at the comment thread. The people tweeting back at him on this one are pretty darned harsh. Whew.

* On the other side…

* And, of course, what post wouldn’t be complete without the “Because… Madigan!” angle?…

*** UPDATE ***  Even the nuke lovers want a piece of the reflected glory…

Aww, Republicans are so cute when they try to act all hip and with it. #Sad!

  2. - Annonin' - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:33 pm:

The IPI piece is a hoot and demonsrates the young & dumb can steer folks into the gutter of ignorance. Tribbies wanted a blank check for their nite time operations…when city balked they sought to pre-empt with a state law. Local control fans did not go along and many including Madigan have caught Tribbie S* ever since.

  3. - Henry Francis - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:33 pm:

I wouldn’t recommend looking at the comment thread. (So here is a link to the comment thread). Lol.

I love how he has picture backwards (look at the letters in the marquee). This isn’t the first time his staff has had problems posting pictures the right way.

  4. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:35 pm:

    HBO - “Dad’s Home State”, Season 2, Episode 49

Bruce takes selfies at Wrigley, sends it to Red Sox owner John Henry with a “Red Sox Rule” filter. Diana reads all the mail for the Republican candidates she is helping, by funding them over Democrats. Diana shrugs and giggles. Diana’s State Employee looks for a way to auction off the Governor’s Cubs’ tickets for one game for charity. Lance tweets pictures of marijuana cookies with a Cubs logos to Rep. Lang, “ck” sends an email touting the Cubs Turnaround Agenda success and congratulating Bruce. Goldberg writes a letter to the Cleveland Indians. Comedy, 65 minutes.

  5. - wordslinger - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:36 pm:

Going to the theater to see an IPI movie about Madigan? I think I’d rather spend a couple of hours down in my catch basin. No chance anyone would see me making such a sad choice.

  6. - @MisterJayEm - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:37 pm:

Awww… Somebody bought the governor a shiny new ‘Cub’s fan’ costume to hang in his closet between the ‘cowboy’ outfit and his ‘leather man’ gear.

  7. - Michelle Flaherty - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:40 pm:

Does he realize the Cubs’ are a union organization?

  8. - Carhartt Representative - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:42 pm:

Don’t forget the Blackhawks fan costume

  9. - LizPhairTax - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:55 pm:

Just wanted to drop by and see a rich dude’s plaything turnaround that worked

  10. - IllinoisBoi - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:58 pm:

Rauner’s face inserted in the Snapchat ghost is the stuff of which nightmares are made. It also looks a little like he’s wearing a Darth Vader helmet.

  11. - Jocko - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 12:59 pm:

I’m looking forward to this Wednesday’s Facebook Live discussion on breast cancer treatment and detection. I’m interested how he’ll pull Madigan (and the TA agenda) into the conversation.

  12. - Who Remembers - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:07 pm:

Cubs lost the playoff game at Wrigley that he attended. Someone, anyone, please tell him to stay away unless he wants to become the newest biggest curse.

  13. - hisgirlfriday - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:07 pm:

Are we being spared those dumb food bets this time around?

  14. - Rich Miller - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:08 pm:

===Cubs lost the playoff game at Wrigley that he attended===

He attended the first one, too. Take a breath. Only losers believe in curses.

  15. - Flynn's mom - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:17 pm:

@OW the Cubs Turnaround Agenda!! Very funny stuff!

  16. - working stiff - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:20 pm:

after reading the comments from the link, i wonder what type of response he’d get at one of the games.

  17. - A guy - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:23 pm:

==Are we being spared those dumb food bets this time around?===

OMG. Are you some kinda Commie? /ssss lol.

The Cardinal Elect is making a food bet (for Heaven’s sake!)

What’s made in Cleveland that even comes close to competing with the food here?

  18. - @MisterJayEm - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:23 pm:

    “Only losers believe in curses.”

Curses will get ya banned ’round here.

    – MrJM

  19. - Albany Park Patriot - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:23 pm:

That Proft guy calls Madigan “Sith Lord” and then wants to be taken seriously in discussions about how to fix this state. Okay.

  20. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:29 pm:

    - Flynn’s mom -

The writers thought it tied the whole episode together.

When “ck” sends that email touting the Cubs Turnaround Agenda and the Rauner Word Jumble had “Bruce” claim it as his success, the episode really became “Emmy Worthy”

  21. - Michelle Flaherty - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 1:54 pm:

Politicians can accept the tickets if they agree to perform the public service of sitting between Drew Carey and Jim Belushi so no one else has to.

  22. - Anonymous - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 3:23 pm:

Off topic: long lines for early voting today.

  23. - Soccermom - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 3:42 pm:

At least the Responsible Budget Coalition folks went to the trouble of sporting baseball gear. (And they had some folks brave enough to wear Sox and Cards jerseys and t-shirts outside Wrigley…)

  24. - Obstructed View - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 3:43 pm:

Poor nuke kids don’t know that the Cubs have power contract with AEP which has an energy mix that is 60% coal and only 5% nukes. http://www.aep.com/Newsroom/newsreleases/Default.aspx?id=1804

  25. - Chicago Cynic - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 3:47 pm:

Great point Obstructed View! Don’t think those kids too concerned with factual niceties…

  26. - Flynn's mom - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 3:58 pm:

@OW- quite Emmy worthy and given the Cubs coast to coast fan base it will really fly high in the ratings.

  27. - wordslinger - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 5:36 pm:

Shouldn’t the “Save the Nukies” be marching on Exelon hq demanding that they keep the plants open?

I mean, they made $2.2 billion in net income last year. They can’t afford to save the planet?

  28. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 24, 16 @ 6:39 pm:

    - Flynn’s Mom -

The writers hope they capture the spirit of the thing…

Check your local listings for dates and times in your area.

    “It’s not TV… It’s HBO”.

  29. - Aristidis Loumis - Tuesday, Oct 25, 16 @ 12:59 am:

The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is a non-partisan organization. We have many people in our student chapter of ANS who are both democratic openly and republican. @nuclearkatie is one of our members, but I believe this is a non-partisan issue because nuclear as a resource of generating electricity is both good for the economy and good for the environment. I am a senior at the University of Illinois and the ANS President. I myself am actually an environmentalist and incredibly liberal @atomicaristides. That is an invalid statement northsider

  30. - Is this page actual conspiracy theorists - Tuesday, Oct 25, 16 @ 3:32 pm:

Obstructed View, please provide a source that has numbers and percentages in it. Prove that there’s one thing you didn’t make up out of thin air. The percent sign looks like this if you didn’t know: %. Also, Chicago and Wrigley are not the same thing. The City of Chicago is mostly powered by the nuclear reactors at Braidwood, Byron, and Dresden.
