The clown show strikes again
Wednesday, Oct 26, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller
* Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the neediest man in Illinois…
* Maybe somebody ought to remind Joe about the state’s FOID card revocation law…
430 ILCS 65/8) (from Ch. 38, par. 83-8)
Sec. 8. Grounds for denial and revocation. The Department of State Police has authority to deny an application for or to revoke and seize a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card previously issued under this Act only if the Department finds that the applicant or the person to whom such card was issued is or was at the time of issuance…
A person whose mental condition is of such a nature that it poses a clear and present danger to the applicant, any other person or persons or the community
In other words, maybe the state cops should grab Walsh’s musket.

A throwback to yesterday.
Rauner:Sanguinetti vs Hardiman:Walsh
Birds of a feather……
- illini97 - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:43 pm:
I’ve seen a disturbing number of comments about Trump supporters expecting him to not only win, but win in a landslide. If he loses, it is proof positive of massive and widespread fraud or rigging on a scale never before seen.
So, honest question, what happens if and when he loses? Riots?
Honestly, how did we get here?
- hisgirlfriday - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:43 pm:
he’s only packing a musket? did he have to pawn his modern day guns to pay child support?
- Indochine - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:44 pm:
It’s not worth it. He can grab his musket and his 5 followers. They’d spen hours arguing over who’s in charge, couldn’t come up with a strategy, and then they would all shoot each other.
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:46 pm:
I remember when Walsh was a candidate for Congress in the 9th Congressional District and, later, when he ran for the Illinois General Assembly. He had precincts in North Evanston, Wilmette, etc. At that time, he presented himself as a liberal Republican.
When he relocated to the 8th Congressional District, he reinvented himself as the second coming of Ted Nugent.
- train111 - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:46 pm:
A disturbing thing from Trump supporters is the number of polls showing him winning by a landslide on social media. They have 50 or 60 thousand respondents, so that is used to show how these ‘polls’ are more valid than say Fox News who interviews 900 to 1000 voters. It would behoove these people to actually take a basic statistics course and have some understanding of how polling actually works.
- Rich Miller - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:47 pm:
===Riots?===
lol
Calm down. Fat old men don’t last long on the front lines. Take it from one.

=== It would behoove these people to actually take a basic statistics course===
Yeah. That’ll happen.
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:51 pm:
I’d suggest to Mr. Walsh that he reach out to Tony Peraica. I heard he has a whole warehouse of pitchforks and grosses and grosses of torches, “slightly” used…
- Big Muddy - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:51 pm:
UGH. When will this carnival-barker go away? Joe Walsh is the worst kind of worst.
- Steve Rogers - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:54 pm:
Let’s, for the sake of comedy, take his words literally. Does he even have powder and balls? Does he know how to load it? Does he know how to shoot it? Does he realize muskets are notoriously inaccurate? Does he realize that the military that will oppose him now has advanced weaponry post 1783? I can’t stop laughing.
- Captain Illini - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:55 pm:
Clown Strike…yep.
Riots? Whaddaya think this is 1968 or something?
Polls - (see Wikileaks) yep, over sampled and misleading…maybe.
On a serious note, there is a distinct separate reality going on with many people on both camps…ultra partisans and those whom disregard facts from just about ANY source, again regardless of party affiliation. November 8th will be a very interesting day, and I’ll be judging throughout the whole thing in my precinct.
- Earnest - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:56 pm:
You mean “musket” isn’t a euphemism for something else?
- Dr X - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:57 pm:
Well it is good to see Walsh abidin’ by the original intent of the 2nd amendment - muskets for everyone!!!
There is always the disturbin’ trend of “No one I know supports Hillary, so obviously Trump will win.”
NCLB and Common Core killed off teachin’ stats for pollin’.
- Stark - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:57 pm:
Trying to imagine Walsh’s accomplishments that would make him an authority on this. I can’t, because his manhood is so diminished it’d be like watching a corn kernel roll down a storm drain.
- thunderspirit - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:57 pm:
I promise to miss former Representative Walsh if he will go away.
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:57 pm:
“Have fun storming the castle” - says no one to Walsh.
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:59 pm:
What concerns me is that they can only seize his FOID card and not his musket. Is someone planning to overthrow the government going to be deterred by not having a government issued permit?
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:59 pm:
Musket? Is that what he calls it?
Walsh has been grabbing-his-musket in the public arena from Jump Street.
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:59 pm:
Meh, he’ll probably just then go change his identity and reapply
- Chairman McBroom - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 3:59 pm:
Joe Walsh is a loser, total loser, believe me. He loses bigly. Walsh doesn’t win anymore. He didn’t write The Art of the Deal. We need someone who wrote The Art of the Deal and it isn’t Walsh. Did I say he doesn’t win anymore? Believe me, that guy is a loser. All talk, no action. He’s such a nasty guy. He doesn’t respect women. I love women. I have more respect for women than anybody else, believe me. I love their spirit. I love them. You know who I don’t love? ISIS. They’re killing us. They’re flowing through our borders by the thousands every single day. We need borders. If we don’t have borders, we don’t have a country. I will build the wall. We’ll have borders once we have a wall. It will be a big, beautiful wall with a big, beautiful door. And I’ll make Mexico pay for it, believe me. Mexico is killing us with trade. Absolutely killing us. We don’t have borders anymore. We need borders so we can finally have a country again. Where was I? Oh yea, Joe Walsh. Total loser.

C’mon Joe, how can we miss you if you won’t go away?
Signed, nearly all Illinoians.
- Last Bull Moose - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:01 pm:
The Russians and Trump have both worked to make this election seem illegitimate. Walsh is an articulate fool who is throwing gasoline on the fire. Maybe he hopes to increase his ratings.
I do fear an uptick in domestic terrorism similar to Oklahoma City. Walsh and his musket are not my worry. It does not take much training or knowledge to be much more dangerous than a man with a musket.
- LincolnLounger - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:01 pm:
His former wife should have grabbed a musket and made him pay his child support.
- Six Degrees of Separation - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:02 pm:
I was talking to a random lady in the Laundromat last weekend (more like she was talking to me) and I had to explain why Trump was not going to get all the votes in IL this election. It’s out there. But I suspect most of it is harmless, and if anything does start brewing, Trump himself will likely act to quell it lest his business interests start to be threatened.
- Rich Miller - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:04 pm:
===they can only seize his FOID card and not his musket===
Um, no. When they take your card, you gotta give up the muskets pronto.
- AC - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:04 pm:
Trump and his followers definitely seem to enjoy grabbing.
- Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:04 pm:
I find it interesting that if you take the word “reason,” meaning “the power of the mind to think, understand and form judgments by a process of logic,” and add a “t” to the front of it, you get a whole new meaning.

- Mason born - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 4:09 pm:
Walsh is an idiot. Trump is losing because he’s a garbage Human being. No reason for any rigging.
As for the FOID i’m not sure muskets are covered. They aren’t under federal statute. Does the FOID apply to them?

If the musket was manufactured before 1890ish, no you don’t.

At the age when other men joined the military, Joe Walsh went to acting school.
I suspect that on November 9 we will once again find Joe playing make-believe rather than doing anything that would risk personal discomfort.

==Honestly, how did we get here?==
Laughing off the people who’ve been saying and stoking this stuff for decades? A simplistic answer, sure, but it’s part of it. My conservative mom is gobsmacked at hearing this kind of stuff; she can’t believe it’s popularity, and that plenty of her friends are saying it. I’ve given up trying to point out to her that they’ve been here all along, and that her friends have always been saying inappropriate stuff in private.

The Russians? C’mon. Remember Hillary/DNC paid goons to incite violence at Trump’s Chicago event. It doesn’t get more illegitimate than that.
- @MisterJayEm - Wednesday, Oct 26, 16 @ 5:42 pm:
“Remember Hillary/DNC paid goons to incite violence at Trump’s Chicago event.”
The Chicagoans who demonstrated at that event did not require payment. Any counter-demonstration violence did not require incitement.

If there’s any reason to be thankful for gerrymandering, it is that gerrymandering ended Joe Walsh’s time as a congressman.

How will they know what guns you have? We don’t have gun registration. The FOID just says you are allowed to handle and own a gun. Having a FOID card doesn’t mean you own a gun.
So all he would have to do is lie about the guns he has. Again, I don’t think someone bent on overthrowing the government is going to have a problem lying to said government.
- oldgeezer - Thursday, Oct 27, 16 @ 1:40 am:
Is there any chance he meant to place the musket in his mouth? I could get behind that use of antique firearms, Walsh is the kind of troll who would encourage others to take to the barricades but would be among the missing himself.
- LakeCountyOG - Thursday, Oct 27, 16 @ 2:34 am:
Walsh used to be my congressman. He was a racist dense brick them, and it seems nothing has changed…. Same old Joe. At least he is sticking to a musket when there are many more modern, effective weapons, such as the AR-15, which are routinely sold to those with mental health issues.
