The utter failure of the GOP party’s ability for critical thinking. They mundlessly spout what ever 1.4% wants them to say without ever thinking of the consequences.
That the upcoming election will not stop the budget stalemate and that this Texan hold off will keep going and going and going until the Duchy of Grand Fenwick has to invade and take us over to reorganize the government.
(Look it up if you don’t know the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.)
That the Republicans and Democrats come to a bipartisan agreement to solve the states budget problems by raising the income tax on the working poor and middle classes.
That the Guns of August we discussed in 2014 have become the the Battles of Verdun and Somme in 2016. Are we now heading for an election to end all elections?
In all seriousness, Rauner leaves office in 18, nothing is done to change the way the state spends money, a tax hike is passed, and nothing is done to make the state more appealing to businesses, people looking for a place to move to and people seriously considering fleeing the perpetual mess.
Ole Slip and Sue is walking up to your front door, and you see the crack, and you see her walking, and you see the crack, and you see her walking, and you see the crack…
People realizing the irony of complaining about Rauner and his billionaire buddies, but don’t seem to mind when a rich guy funds anti-Rauner ads turning into zombies…
Constitutional amendment fails that we pick our Governor in future by having a bind-folded monkey stick a pin into the telephone directory at the state fair. /s
We want what we want, but we don’t want to pay for what we want. It will take strong leadership to lead the public to the sensible realization that Illinois needs new revenue. It will take strong leadership to enact progressive new revenue streams. Am I the only person who sees nobody capable of exerting the required leadership?
No snark. What really scares me is that no matter who wins this election, we all lose. No budget, colleges and universities closed or at least hamstrung, AFSME strikes, and no one in government gives a hoot
