Rate the latest Rauner duct tape ad
Friday, Apr 28, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * The latest TV ad pushing Gov. Rauner’s agenda was recorded for me by a subscriber using his mobile phone, so it’s not great quality. I’ve asked the RGA for a high quality version, but haven’t yet heard back… For comparison’s sake, the previous ads are here.

Waste of time and money. Dude, just do your freaking job and your numbers will improve.
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:23 am:
It’s continuing a narrative on TV/Media that is unencumbered with the worries of Democrats calling Rauner out and keeps Rauner, smiling and in costume, the lone definer of Bruce Rauner.
“B” in quality, “A” because it’s the only message out there.

The ad is fine. @chicagocynic, blame your legislators for “not doing their jobs.” A budget has not reached his desk. Last time I checked, the Executive Branch does not have the ability to unilaterally enact bills without GA approval. Give me a break

Article VIII, Section 2, (a) puts the onus on a governor to propose the budget.
Use the google.
Thanks.

I can’t see past the costume and props. It, to me, dumb’s down the governor, the state and the citizens. How about trying to get the message across without the flannel shirt, g dropping and goofy prop??

Umm I hate to be that guy but that is exactly what Rauner is doing
- Double D - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:32 am:
Lame, lame, lame….or is that Blame, blame, blame. How about a poll of Illinoisans asking for suggestions on how to “use” that duct tape?
- No Longer A Lurker - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:43 am:
When I see these ads I always think they are and ad for ugly shirt day.
- Last Bull Moose - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:51 am:
This is the “glittering generalities ” class of propaganda.
His other favorite is the “big lie”. He claims to have presented a balanced budget when he has not.
- Jocko - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:52 am:
Why is he still campaigning? Didn’t he win?
Someone should tell him 12 billion buys a lot of duct tape.
- NobodysAccountable - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:53 am:
He just doesn’t get it. Time to move on to the next failure.
- Arsenal - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 11:58 am:
I can never gauge these ads, but I think Team Rauner must see something they like in the reaction to them, otherwise, why continue?
- 360 Degree Turnaround - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 12:08 pm:
Boss412,
I think that over 20 budget bills have been put on his desk, he chose to veto.
- Vole - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 12:10 pm:
Background noise of Rauner’s endless loop has ceased to be anything but irritating. Rauner cannot govern and he cannot campaign. Fail.
- G'Kar - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 12:28 pm:
For his next appearance, Brucie will be trading in his Carharts for a pair of Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans. With a $50 million warchest, he can buy one for each day of the month!

- Responsa - Friday, Apr 28, 17 @ 12:38 pm:
Democrats made a big mistake in trying to tap into the duct tape meme the other day. Obviously it’s going to be a signature/keeper message for Rauner camp going forward. Regardless of how effective people may think it is as a visual theme for voters, Dems foolishly further legitimized it by making Il politics a war of the duct tapes.

Results from both ads are the same: They make me sick.

Two ughs and I threw up in my mouth a little.

Not worth posting. The audio and picture quality is so poor that it cannot be understood.
It looked boring from what little I could follow.

Boss412, you really should learn a little something about how government works before opining. As Mark Twain (or Abraham Lincoln) said, “better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.”
Illinois Constitution says: “The Governor SHALL prepare and submit to the General Assembly, at a time prescribed by law, a state budget for the ensuing fiscal year…Proposed expenditures shall not exceed funds estimated to be available for the fiscal year as shown in the budget.”
