* The A-1 is here. That’s $14 million since April, if you’re keeping track.
Long way to go to match Gov. Rauner’s $70 million.
* From the ILGOP…
“Billionaire J.B. Pritzker felt the need to scam city schoolchildren and homeowners out of $230,000, but apparently has $14 million to give to his own campaign. He’s just another Chicago insider who works the system to benefit himself at our expense.” - Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Steven Yaffe
Moments ago, billionaire Democrat candidate for governor J.B. Pritzker deposited another $7 million into his campaign coffers, bringing his total personal contributions to his campaign to $14 million.
Pritzker’s $14 million contribution to his campaign comes after the Chicago Sun-Times revealed his property tax scam that shortchanged Chicago schoolchildren and homeowners by over $230,000.
Why would Pritzker spend millions of his inherited fortune on his campaign?
Because he’s just another Chicago insider who works the system to benefit himself at our expense.

Does the ILGOP not see the hypocrisy in their statements? Have they forgotten Rauner’s $50M? Amazing.
- JoeMaddon - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 6:06 pm:
**scam city schoolchildren**
First, it appears that the ILGOP and Chris Kennedy have the same lack of understanding of property tax appeals and what it means for tax revenue.
But seriously, this ILGOP statement is something else. It takes a lot of guts to talk about Pritzker’s “fortune” considering the fact that the ILGOP is essentially funded by one person’s fortune. And that guy - Governor Rauner - is the same one that has his own issues with working the system to benefit himself (and his family) at our expense AND *actually* scams other city schoolchildren. Just ask his daughter about getting clouted into a top CPS school when they didn’t even live in the City.
Also - this is *exactly* why JB is a bad idea. He and Rauner basically have the same oppo book, you just need to change a few names and details of the scams.
- Real - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 6:08 pm:
While Rauner blocks a progressive income tax from passing he has $50 million for his campaign.
- Anon - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 6:31 pm:
Thank you Mr Pritzker for investing in the future of our state. My children and I appreciate it. You are our only hope. Please budget a small fraction of that money to exposing Scott Drury as the hypocritical Rauner-lovin fool that he is. God bless you!
- Lt Guv - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 6:36 pm:
What hypocrites! How could they possibly push this with a straight face?
- The Captain - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 6:49 pm:
You know what really rich guys are afraid of? A richer guy. lol ILGOP, I see your underpants.
- Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 7:10 pm:
Scamming city school children? Oh well, veto SB1 then, they will be fine…. Speaking of scamming a child, how’s the governor’s daughter doing since she graduated from Peyton Prep after her dad scammed some worthy child out of the school???
- Yiddishcowboy - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 7:39 pm:
ILGOP = major chutzpah!
- ILGOV2018 - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 7:54 pm:
Yiddishcowboy, I was thinking the exact same thing.
- illinoised - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 8:06 pm:
The continued lack of effective campaign finance laws has resulted in state and national elections becoming auctions. It is ruining our country.
- Huh? - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 9:12 pm:
“Why would rauner spend millions of his fortune on his campaign?
Because he’s just another Chicago insider who works the system to benefit himself at our expense, crush unions, decimate higher education, shred the social service safety net for the poor, ill and elderly as a means to impose his personal agenda that has nothing to do with the budget all the while running up a pile of unpaid bills that total more than $14 billion.”
Fixed it for you.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jun 8, 17 @ 9:45 pm:
For me, this is more signaling and preparation…
Kennedy is going to need $8-10 million to honestly compete, and build a significant ground game to feed off the 44% that Kennedy had at a baseline.
Now, Pritzker, if these monies are used to go very negative, direct negative to Rauner, and use the “bounce” of the AFL-CIO endorsement to build infrastructure with the AFL-CIO… and protect GA Dems… all the while doing all this spending as a signal that Pritzker isn’t going anywhere, if anything, digging in deeper… and preparing for stormier weather ahead, and also preparing to show off that infrastructure by feeding it the needed monies for that growth.
Gotta figure that Pritzker will get close to that $50 million when March finally comes, but this $12… this is groundwork and signaling that that $50 million is no joke, and it’s going to be spent to do the job that needs to be done.
We’ll see how it plays.

I’m sorry I thought what hurt school children was clouting your daughter into a Chicago school she didn’t qualify for because you had the money to buy her a CITY OF CHICAGO PUBLIC EDUCATION?
Remember this GOP, legislators when thinking of voting against Rauner, “my daddy knew I couldn’t make it in a City of Chicago Public School and I was turned down so he made a call to his friends so that I could bounce a poor kid from getting a chance at a better life.”
Oh yeah Madigan made this happen.
- Stir - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 8:07 am:
Because Rauner didn’t triple his income once he became governor, a pot calling the kettle black.

Parade Season is starting….
- Anonymous - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 8:28 am:
And Rauner didn’t profit a dime from pushing the state income tax to roll back and then blocking it from going up again for two years so far…
- Rock Rosi - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 8:54 am:
7 mil is a nice amount but is still far away from the 70 plus mil BVR is playing with.

“…his inherited fortune…”
Thanks for the dog whistle.

You believe Pritzker CAN’T get any more monies?
Prizker has no worries in the monies department.

- Lucky Pierre -
Unless you have responses for the comment I have, you have no argument.
You start start with denying Leader Radogno’s own words that Rauner blew up the first Grand Bargain and how Leader Radogno is wrong and you’re right.
Thanks.
- Red fish blue fish - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 9:17 am:
Two out of five labour households voted for Rauner in 2014. If the democrats are serious about halting the carnage of Rauner’s policies, they’ll need a candidate capable of attracting voters— a worrying thought, as recent oppo dumps paint a picture of a front runner that’s just a blue-tinged facsimile of Bruce Rauner.
Pritzker’s team should make use of their funds and combat this perception. Illinois can’t afford the an additional Rauner term.
- JohnnyPyleDriver - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 9:20 am:
yea, obvs hypocritical for ILGOP to squeal about the money, but it’s equally hypocritical of the ILDEMs to run Pritzker for same reason
- Demoralized - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 9:21 am:
Criticizing a rich guy for funding his campaign. That’s fun. Where else have I seen that movie?
- Gooner - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 9:25 am:
The nice thing is that is is one less campaign that I need to write a check to support. Now I can keep those checks local.

===he nice thing is that is is one less campaign that I need to write a check to support. Now I can keep those checks local===
Ironically, that is the selling point Pritzker wants out there for those active in Dem politics and Illinois politics too.
Now, if Protzker can so proficency in rapid response messaging to negative oppo, that would help too, but I digress…

Our election process, both statewide and nationally, has become so blatantly corrosive to our ideals as a country, we are watching its disintegration before our eyes. Nothing is notorious or alarming because it’s becoming the norm. All the chatter about Russian interference/hacking elections….hells bells, we’re doing a better job at killing our republic from within
than from without. “Meritocracy” will be a forgotten term.
- City Zen - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 10:08 am:
They couldn’t squeeze another “billionaire” and “inherited” in that statement?
- Ghost - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 10:24 am:
Gov Rauner bought two neonatal drugs that sold for 30ish dollars and raised the cost over a grand. then complains about health care costs and makes millions of dieing babies. So if the gop wants to go there then lets go there.
- Arsenal - Friday, Jun 9, 17 @ 11:47 am:

a pox on both their billionaire ” fundraising” totals.
