Let’s be careful out there
Friday, Jun 23, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * One of the easiest gotcha stories to do during high-profile legislative sessions is to cruise around town looking for legislative license plates outside of taverns, golf courses, etc…
…Adding… The person who sent out that e-mail was not the chief of staff, but John Patterson.

Uber & Lyft should email that same list.
- Chicago Cynic - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:39 am:
Ohfercrissakes. Cmon media, behave yourselves too. That kind of gotcha story serves no purpose.
- MediaMom - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:41 am:
And people wonder why the media has lost its credibility? Way to focus on “the news that matters” and not pander to the click bait crowd.
- Winnin' - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:41 am:
You mean there’s still real media? Prob should. E more worried about governor’s cameras.
- T Sowell - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:42 am:
If the media wants to use these gotcha tactics - that serve no substantive purpose - don’t be surprised when all the pols close ranks and get extremely tight lipped .
- Anonymous - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:42 am:
She’s becoming a remade version of Pam Zekman and that’s not a compliment.

LOL
You need a nap.
- Annonin' - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:44 am:
Pretty funny since Chi media has basically abandoned SPI coverage and buy GovJunk BS day in day out.
- A guy - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:47 am:
Anyone cruisin’ the churches, synagogues and soup kitchens? /s

When the Dems, any Dems, actually, decide to engage in the daily messaging that Rauner wins, maybe some news outlets will cover it.
You’d think Dems would get 5-6 interns and create the Anti-Rauner Word Jumble.
It’s not like the Rauner Comms are rolling out impressive intellectual arguments, it’s the same buzz words.
Why haven’t the Dems?
- OkComputer - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:49 am:
Next week, it will be Brownie cruising around town looking for Chicago media trucks at golf courses, taverns…
- A guy - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:49 am:
BTW, who checks the taverns for reporters? Or is that a job too big for one person! lol
- Oh Really? - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:55 am:
It is disgusting that there needs to be a special instruction at all since it reveals a tone deafness that the political establishment is so out of touch that they would dare play golf while Illinois burns.
- cdog - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 10:55 am:
This is just another tactic to find something to attack the messenger.
Conversely, you’re a fool if you give opponents an easy mark like that to criticize you, so it’s a sound warning.
- Anon221 - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 11:01 am:
And let the tracking begin! /s
- Streator Curmudgeon - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 11:02 am:
Considering the mess Illinois is in, you wouldn’t think the media would have to look very hard to find gotcha stories.
- Red Rider - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 11:10 am:
In the old days legislators would do the work at Bowers after hours and get things done.
- Texas Red - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 11:15 am:
you mean Baur’s

The only thing more embarrassing would be to televise their golf game..”That’s the fifth ball the senator has hit into the lake on this hole”
- me too - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 11:26 am:
We’re going to develop rogue news outlets that follow and capture these reporters being over-served and over…(fill in the blank),
- Curl of the Burl - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 11:29 am:
Madigan’s trackers will be equipped with disposal cameras and long-range walkie talkies.

So legislators will just have to drink in their offices and hotel rooms. May as well.
- Annonin' - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 12:07 pm:
Looks like Durkie flunks first test and drags Senate Minority Leader down too. Skippin’ meetin’s after your big presser very, very dumb.
- Campbell - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 12:12 pm:
Interesting thought by Patterson to warn them, in writing, about this concern. Does John know a little about this tactic from his previous career?
- Soccermom - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 12:15 pm:
John is an anti-golf zealot. He sends these out every week.
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 12:16 pm:
===John is an anti-golf zealot. He sends these out every week.===
That’s too bad. Patterson is one I’d play nine holes of golf with and beverages after.

Patterson loved doing stories like that. lol
- DeseDemDose - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 12:23 pm:
Mary Ann Ahern hopefully can find time to ask Republicans, Have you put your Revenue proposal in writing yet with the list of Republicans names that will be on it?
- City Zen - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 1:36 pm:
I will personally provide the legislature kegs of PBR and a golf driving range simulator if they’ll pass a budget.
- Anonymous - Friday, Jun 23, 17 @ 3:36 pm:
They can should jump in with a lobbyist they will be happy to provide rides ….This silliness has to stop. When do the adults return to the Cap?
