Candidates at the Pride Parade

Monday, Jun 26, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Chris Kennedy’s pink feather boa is great and I don’t think our current governor could pull off that look. But, I’m sorry, the Cub float in the background just ruins the pic for me…

* And I’m not sure all the Democratic candidates can run like this

* Kennedy appears to have been quite well received

* JB seems like he had a great time…

* Sen. Biss’ people chanted “Billionaires have got to go”…

* And Ameya Pawar’s campaign put together a pretty good video…

…Adding… The Pritzker campaign just posted a new video…

” “Billionaires have got to go” …”

Then who will they tax? Biss, please.

  2. - JS Mill - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:30 am:

If you can’t have fun at the Pride Parade, LGBTQ or straight, you probably can’t have fun.

  3. - VanillaMan - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:31 am:

White Sox supporters wear their rainbows under their black and white.

  4. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:33 am:

The members of the ILGOP have learned nothing from the SSM vote and the Supreme Court decision there after.

Maybe I missed Evelyn there, she’s not doing much with the Special Session going on.

  5. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:40 am:

    Remember…

Bruce and Evelyn have no social agenda.

    Fool me once…

  6. - Arsenal - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:44 am:

==If you can’t have fun at the Pride Parade, LGBTQ or straight, you probably can’t have fun.==

This is true. One of the most completely joyful events I’ve ever experienced in politics.

Pawar’s digital team has been punching well above their weight class so far.

  7. - Responsa - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:45 am:

I really like Pawar’s video. It’s classy and a great message for everybody every day.

  8. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:45 am:

    To the positive, which is what the Parade is about;

    Love is Love is Love.

    Well done, All.

  9. - Joe Bidenopolous - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:45 am:

Biss probably had the smallest group of the four and there wasn’t a ton of charisma flowing.

Pawar’s crew was vocal, but also looked pretty 47th-wardish.

Kennedy and JB had the biggest groups and were of similar size. Kennedy worked it hard and did seem to be really well received, but JB’s group looked to be having more fun and seemed to fit the crowd better. They had great shirt options apparently.

  10. - Daniel Plainview - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:47 am:

I saw Pritzker jog to catch his crew and he moves pretty good. That was near the endpoint also.

I like Biss but he has the most annoying crew by far.

  11. - Ravinia is a ripoff - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 10:49 am:

Where was the former federal prosecutor?

  12. - 47th Ward - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 11:00 am:

Imagine the back sweat on these guys if it was actually a hot day in Chicago? Yikes.

  13. - SwingVoter - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 11:44 am:

Ravinia- The former federal prosecutor was probably in Springfield, along with his legislative colleagues Kelly Cassidy and Greg Harris. A better question is why wasn’t Senator Biss down there doing his job?

  14. - JS Mill - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 11:51 am:

=Biss probably had the smallest group of the four and there wasn’t a ton of charisma flowing.=

Biss in a nutshell. Seems like a decent guy, certainly smart. No charisma.

    =Love is Love is Love.=

    This.

There is enough hate to go around, 10 times over. Let’s try to celebrate something worth celebrating like Love.

Happy people are just more fun to be around.

  15. - Rogue Roni - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 11:53 am:

Guess the GOP is writing off the LGBT vote this season… again

  16. - Lakeview Dude - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:00 pm:

I was marching near Kennedy’s group. He was running around like a mad man. Almost ran me over lol

  17. - G-Man - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:06 pm:

Pawar also had dozens of canvassers working the crowd during the parade. Low-hanging fruit for any candidate there.

  18. - Arsenal - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:21 pm:

==Biss probably had the smallest group of the four and there wasn’t a ton of charisma flowing.==

    Best signs, though.

  19. - wordslinger - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:32 pm:

    No Rauner?

What possible reason could a governor running for re-election have for passing on the chance to celebrate with hundreds of thousands of happy citizens assembling peacefully?

    Unity!

  20. - wordslinger - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:35 pm:

Kennedy running the route like Big Jim used to.

That cat made every parade his own.

  21. - Anonymous - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:39 pm:

Was there this kind of publicity in the media for Veterans Day Parade?

(I really feel sorry for Pritzkers belt buckle. Talk about being under stress….

  22. - Chicago Cynic - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 12:56 pm:

JB and his crew seemed to have a great time and yea, he was running back and forth. Hard to keep up with everyone who wants to meet you. And yea 47, glad nobody took a pic of that. It was impressive!

  23. - Lance Mannion - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 1:07 pm:

    Biss? Please.

  24. - BigLou - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 2:21 pm:

I think Pritzker should get bonus points for having a belt that matched his shirt pattern and shoes that color match the shirt/belt. If I didn’t know better I would have thought he was a retiree on a cruise with that sort of fashion matching.

  25. - Stephens - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 5:44 pm:

Biss’ supporters were also chanting “tax the rich and spread the wealth,” a chant that has historically responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people worldwide.

  26. - Anonymous - Monday, Jun 26, 17 @ 7:32 pm:

Ha! Anyone who can rock a feather boa has my vote.

  27. - DrummerGirl - Tuesday, Jun 27, 17 @ 8:14 am:

Amen JS Mill! & Biss has massive charisma..talk to him just once!
