*** UPDATED x1 *** Rauner puts password on his school funding site, but it’s cached online
Tuesday, Aug 1, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * Hmm…
Except, see, there’s this thing called Google Cache that the governor’s office may not have been counting on. Click here to see what they’re trying to protect with a password. The Internet never forgets, campers. * But the question now becomes, why the heck is he trying to hide his numbers? *** UPDATE *** Making this decision to password protect the page even stranger, the governor actually pointed reporters to his website today…

…note for the Superstars circa summer 2017. Typically on balance sheets, in addition to a parentheses to indicate a deficit, it is also customary to show the number in red, rather than green. Granted it makes it slightly harder to hide that you are halving the amount of money going to CPS.
- DuPage Bard - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:07 pm:
These numbers look good be interesting to see how the scoring goes.
Will there be an opportunity for a outsider to score it as well.

Can’t beat the Internet. It’s undefeated.
I ‘nember Candidate Rauner saying he’d be the most transparent governor and governor’s office ever.
Then again, ole Bruce was wearin’ a costume, droppin’ Gs, and told us his wife was a Democrat.
So much fun, those days…

I suppose that if our Governor did not know that a 3/5 vote was required on his veto this morning he would have no reason to believe that the internet is forever and nothing is ever lost.
That should be a “fact” that the best team in America should have known.
Should be interesting to see how his “magic” numbers compare to the real numbers.

I typed in “Joshua” but instead of the formula… it appears I’m playing some simulation where I’m playing against WOPR who resides in Colorado…

He is hiding the numbers because people like him do not like to be proven wrong.
I had a boss like him once. Defending yourself with proof was totally unacceptable to this yutz who thought he was omnipotent.

I also like how they leave Chicago’s negative $145mil in green to try and blend in.

Superstars at work.
- Tomacci - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:26 pm:
I checked the cached webpage: one interesting thing to note is that if you subtract the value under the “Additional $ Under Our Plan” from the “Our Plan” Column, you get the value listed under the SB1 column.
I tried some random rows and they all match.
- Demoralized - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:27 pm:
Today doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in the Governor’s staff. Don’t know how many votes it takes for a veto. Now this Three Stooges show with regard to this spreadsheet. Not a good day.
- Demoralized - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:30 pm:
They tout how much “their plan” helps kids and yet there’s a huge negative number for the City of Chicago that sticks right out there. Sorry City kids. No soup for you. You don’t count.
- Linus - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:34 pm:
==why the heck is he trying to hide his numbers?==
Just a guess: Because he lacks confidence in his own numbers.
And he realizes that, today, reporters already have discovered he didn’t understand his own veto process. Why take a chance at another flub?
- Morty - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:36 pm:
Wow, looking at the DuPage figures the new money doesn’t come anywhere close to being something that would offset lost revenues from a cost-shift or property tax freezes

We’re still playing, but there’s quite a bit of black helicopter traffic over Oswego right now, for whatever that’s worth.

Got no problem with making it a little tricky to get the previous data for the politically less connected. He wants to focus attention on the newer numbers when they come out.

Tomacci, you should know better than to use real math on their numbers. State math is not the same as real math.
- FormerParatrooper - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 3:59 pm:
Pretty sure the password doesn’t have a “g” in it unless he was saving his dropped “g”s for making a password.
- C Ball - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:04 pm:
His spreadsheet would not have the adjusted EAV numbers for the TIF/PTELL part of the AV. ISBE would have to input new EAV numbers. The workbook they come from was not posted.
- Papa Mikey - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:11 pm:
Anyone notice the * for Chicago at the bottom of the Gov’s page?
The SB 1 number accounts for CPS’ tier funding and FY18 new pension pick-up, and the Governor’s plan number accounts for CPS’ tier funding, >>>>>FY18 new pension pick-up

OW, in light of the VETO today, and the Gov’s misstep with knowing how many votes needed for override….has Dad’s Home State officially become a tragic comedy?
- Wensicia - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:12 pm:
Maybe the Best Team Ever plans to attach the password to a campaign donation.

I think a reboot of the franchise will answer some questions.
Stay tuned.
- Political Animal - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:17 pm:
They didn’t password protect it…
As someone who actually know how Illinois websites work, what happened is they changed the status of the page from “Published” to “Draft.” It requests a password because it’s attempting to take you to the Quality Assurance (internal) side of the page.
Also, for me at least, it seems to be back up.
- wordslinger - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:24 pm:
BTIA going to bunker until they can get their think tanks wrapped around who’s actually supposed to be responsible and accountable for doing some real work.
To date, no one’s volunteered, obviously.

==They didn’t password protect it…==
==It requests a password ==
So it’s not password protected, but to access where it is you need a password. Thanks for clearing that up.
- don the legend - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:36 pm:
wordslinger, I think the usual Raunerite defenders on this site must be in that bunker with the BTIA.
- Political Animal - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:37 pm:
==So it’s not password protected, but to access where it is you need a password. Thanks for clearing that up.==
Saying they “password protected it” implies they choose a password and locked the page behind it. That’s not what they did. Anyone who is logged in with Admin access to the back end of that .GOV page doesn’t need enter a password. Its simply asking for your login credentials.
If anything it shows that the new comms staff over there doesn’t know how the websites work. They were trying to take it down but did it incorrectly.
- Anon - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 4:52 pm:
It’s not the new Comm staff — it’s DoIT that locked down the .asp page. It runs on a Sharepoint server. Don’t get me started on what a waste and expense Sharepoint servers are.
99% of Illinois state web infrastructure could run on free, open source but DoIT refuses.
- Sonny - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 6:03 pm:
Someone told DOIT to yank it and I can imagine there was a level of urgency involved, like in a running to the washroom kind of way.
- Baron von Hammer - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 6:28 pm:
Lincoln,of course, used Four score for his internet password.
- DuPage Dave - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 6:45 pm:
Once again, Rauner remains a complete and utter disappointment. And lately also an embarrassment.
Please just go away. Go home and count your money.

- Person 8 - Tuesday, Aug 1, 17 @ 11:01 pm:
Fun with numbers:
Rauner just vetoed a school funding reform bill to give his rich Winnekta buddies a 36% taxpayer bailout.
or since this was the “Chicago Bailout”
we can now call it the “Breese Bailout”
