Rahm pot, meet Rauner kettle

* Says the guy who once sent a pollster a dead fish…
Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday accused Gov. Bruce Rauner of “governing through anger” and predicted that Republicans and Democrats alike would chose “loyalty to kids over loyalty to the governor” by overriding Rauner’s veto of a school funding bill.
One day after Rauner followed through on his threat to veto the bill, Emanuel accused his old friend of making a “fundamental mistake” and blowing a “historic opportunity” to rewrite a formula that “fundamentally harms poor kids and kids of color.”
“Re-writing the school formula was a product of the governor’s commission, which is why the governor agrees with 90 percent of it. You can’t then just want to veto it because of a pique of anger,” the mayor told reporters.
“There’s only one way to explain what the governor did. Vetoing a bill that he agrees with 90 percent that almost every school superintendent across the state and almost every paper across the state….agree that he should sign. He is governing through anger.”
But, this does further the theme, pounded home by Senate President Cullerton, that the governor may have some anger issues. And videos like this certainly don’t help…

How do I make that clip my new ringtone?

Wish someone would ask our Mayor why he doesn’t implement an evidence based funding model and a hold harmless option with Chicago Public Neighborhood Schools.
The same unfair system is basically what we have at CPS. Per pupil funding doesn’t take into account need, extra money raised by school or ability of parents to contribute. Rather treats everyone the same. Schools that raise 3/4 to 1 million dollars from non-per pupil funding are treated the same as the school without the ability to raise funds.
Further, our per pupil funding model (sound familiar) doesn’t have a floor. So schools that are struggling to stay afloat continue to have budgets cut. While schools flush with money continue to get more.
The city is in some ways a miny version of the state.

Not every voters thinks “anger” is a bad thing. Voters want to see people who care (or at least act like they care).
One of my problems with Andy Manar is that he seems so measured. Even when he gets torqued off during education reform discussions he comes across as too plastic and too pre-planned.

This has nothing to do with the video clip, but did the superstars make Rauner stop wearing his outrageous costumes?

The guys in the background certainly have the ‘what am I doing here?’ look going for them.

Rich, don’t you realize how outrageous that sounds?

In the spirit of fairness, the only thing more touching that the GOP’s defense of Collective Bargaining rights, is hearing RAHM chastise ANYONE for using threats or anger. Pure as the driven snow, he.

Edgar said Madigan gave him a Heart attack. So, I don’t begrudge Rauner being “angry” to a certain extent. His job is not easy.

360 - If you have iPhone. Capture the audio. Change the extension to “m4r”. Open file with iTunes. It should then be place in your ringtones list in iTunes. Connect phone and upload. (Make sure you check that you want to download that file.)
Good luck. Personally I find him too obnoxious and annoying to have on my phone.

Hmm. Norseman, you lost me at capture the audio. Thank you for the info though.

Maybe not, but they should. Anger is good for fighting off grizzly bears, or running from grizzly bears. It is a lousy emotion for negotiating with other people. It is a lousy emotion when you veto something for emotional reasons, fire loyal people who are qualified to help you, refuse to discuss a complex bill with the senate leader who maybe would have prevented you from making a humiliating mistake, etc.
You mentioned Manar being measured. So he’s not an emotional basket case. Look at all the time and energy he has put in this bill, including promoting it. Isn’t that an indication that he cares?

360 degree turnaround, personally I like “Focus Amanda focus”. But I think I would get sick of that ringtone in a hurry.
