    ‘cept governin’.

    Just sayin…..

  2. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:24 am:

    Great minds, lol.

  3. - Boone's is Back - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:24 am:

Man these Trump comparisons are getting easier by the day.

“I have a lot of friends… a lot.. and I’m just sayin’, who have told me how great, really great, of a job I’m doing.”

  4. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:27 am:

The chickens are an ironically sweet touch to it all…

You couldn’t scrip then edit this better, in hindsight, unless back then they new the train wreck(s) that would follow…

… follow a man who shared a stage with chickens.

    Great post, Rich.

  5. - Gruntled University Employee - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:28 am:

And up to that point in his life he probably was, think born on third base. Now, not so much.

  6. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:29 am:

I just want to tell you, I have had people come up to me over the past 37 days and say what a wonderful job that communications team had been doing. Republicans and Democrats. They say to me, that “white male” press release got widespread coverage around the world. They say keep getting Illinois’ name out there.

  7. - JC is just saying... - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:32 am:

Two quotes of hundreds immediately come to mind:

    1. Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions.

2.The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.

    Just saying…

  8. - igotgotgotgotnotime - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:33 am:

Take it from a city boy, those are pigeons.

  9. - Ipso Facto - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:33 am:

Rauner’s new primer on Communications from Wayne State Press, “I’ve Been Successful at Everything I’ve Ever Done, and How to Get Less Done with More”

  10. - Last Bull Moose - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:35 am:

Nobody is great at everything. The traits that lead to success in one area cause failure in another.

Smart people learn to consciously “switch hats” and change personas for different roles. They also learn to hire out tasks they do poorly.

Rauner has not yet learned this.

  11. - Blue dog dem - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:35 am:

Does any sane man/woman really think they can save this state?

  12. - TinyDancer(FKASue) - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:38 am:

    Chickens?

  13. - H-W - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:39 am:

Sorry to be a negative Nelly, but I am still upset over yesterday’s news re: negotiations.

If the proposed $75 M direct payments to private schools passes, and we then add the “75% tax credits to all parents who pay private tuition,” exactly how much money will be robbed from out treasury each year?

  14. - Mittuns - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:39 am:

Bruce Rauner. Born on third base and picked off at first.

  15. - a drop in - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:40 am:

“And up to that point in his life he probably was, think born on third base.

He was. And he was thrown out trying to steal second.

  16. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:40 am:

Blue dog, yes. I think someone can come in and do the job. that person needs to accept certain realities. They need to assess the landscape, figure out the tools they have and need, then get to work. Sounds easy, but I know it is not.

  17. - Anonymous - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:41 am:

The state isn’t beyond saving. the idea that it isn’t is bought and paid for by the vultures that prey on failure.

  18. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:42 am:

HW - I don’t think the private school money is constitutional. I bet it is drafted so it is not. Sever ability clause will likely be inserted.

  19. - Rich Miller - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:42 am:

    ===Chickens? ===

He used them to make fun of Gov. Quinn during the campaign.

  20. - Soccermom - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:47 am:

Can someone please find and post the Diana “Bruce doesn’t have a social agenda” ad? It seems to have been purged…

  21. - Heat of Summer - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 9:59 am:

Agreed with Moose except “Smart people learn to consciously “switch hats” and change personas for different role”.

He actually has different hats, vests, and shirts he changes to suit the situation.

  22. - DeseDemDose - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:00 am:

Rauner wingman Munger who lost the Comptroller election still has a six figure do nothing job and feeds from the public trough. She is the last of the mohicans to get paid to praise and lie for Rauner. Is that her only specialty?

  23. - J IL - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:06 am:

It’s truly amazing yet baffling after all these missteps, bungles, staff firings upon staff firings, statements to the media, etc. that there are folks that will give him a pass no matter what and continue to have the mindset of “Go get ‘em Brucie…you get those Dems”

  24. - H-W - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:06 am:

360 - I sure hope so. I can only guess that would be a huge fiscal burden upon our treasury if it were enacted. I always fear the saying, “the legislature can do whatever the legislature wishes; the only issue is how to do it.”

  25. - Flynn's mom - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:15 am:

It might still be true. He hasn’t done any governin’ since he was elected so we can’t tell if he would be successful at that yet/s

  26. - Democrat Grrrl - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:26 am:

The chickens are coming home to roost.

  27. - VanillaMan - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:27 am:

I detected a cluck and an eye-roll when Bruce said that, and it wasn’t just coming from the chickens.

  28. - wordslinger - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:37 am:

    – Does any sane man/woman think they can save this state–

Does any sane man/woman with a backbone think that today’s problems are insurmountable compared to what previous generations dealt with?

Do you really need a list of examples?

Cowboy up and be a mensch. Chronic whiners, we’ve got plenty.

  29. - wordslinger - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 10:43 am:

    Question:

You’ve got the rooster, the chicken and the hen. The rooster goes with the chicken. Who’s having sex with the hen?

  30. - blue dog dem - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 11:35 am:

Word. Does that sane person with a backbone do it thru austerity or taxation. Cause if that’s the case their are 118,59 and 1, spineless crustaceans roaming the halls of Springfield.
Of the floundering four, all I hear is more programs and less austerity. Help old Blue out with some clues who might be that(those) superhero(s) to the rescue.

  31. - Buzz Fugazi - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 11:40 am:

Gov. Rauner, as a venture capitalist, helped start over 400 companies. “Many failed. Many were hugely successful.”

  32. - Sox Fan - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 12:30 pm:

===You’ve got the rooster, the chicken and the hen. The rooster goes with the chicken. Who’s having sex with the hen?===

    That’s perverse

  33. - @MisterJayEm - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 12:31 pm:

Bruce: “I’ve been successful at everything I’ve ever done and I’m a leader.”

    Narrator: “He wasn’t.”

    – MrJM

  34. - IllinoisBoi - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 12:56 pm:

Rauner and Trump should prove once and for all that running government “like a business” is a terrible, terrible idea.

  35. - IllinoisBoi - Thursday, Aug 24, 17 @ 1:00 pm:

Soccermom: Here’s the “Bruce Doesn’t have a social agenda” — or one of them. http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2014/09/new-rauner-campaign-ad-says-hes-pro-choice.html
