* Sent to a friend whose name is not Kristina, but the Drury campaign thinks it is…
Kristina,
In June, we launched our campaign with a simple message: Illinois government has been hijacked by politicians like Bruce Rauner and Mike Madigan to serve their own interests, not ours, and it is time to return our State back to its rightful owner – you!
With experienced and trustworthy leadership in the governor’s office, we can rebuild our State, fix the big issues holding Illinois back, and ensure our brightest days are ahead of us. If Bruce Rauner and Donald Trump have taught us anything, it’s that experience and trust matter.
After Labor Day, campaign season really gets going. With our ever-growing base of supporters in every corner of the state, we are ready to end Mike Madigan’s chokehold on Illinois and replace the status quo with fresh ideas that will allow Illinois to thrive.
Illinois yearns for a Democratic candidate who can get things done without being another rubber stamp for Madigan. We stand alone in fitting the bill and, with your support, we will win.
Kristina, as we head into the fall campaign season, we need your help to build on our momentum and seize the chance to bring honest change to Illinois.
Please make a contribution before our August deadline:

Thank you,
Scott Drury
Democratic Candidate for Governor

No mention of his prior employment but does seem to like the Royal We.

You still salty about the clock?
- LakeEffect - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:41 pm:
Interesting that he seeems to be keying in on his legislative and federal government experience as a positive , noting Rainer and trump had no experience in government and were just rich guys who are utter failures as political executives. Drury was talking about this when I saw him in des plaines on Monday as well
- blue dog dem - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:42 pm:
Since there are no conservative Dem candidates, this guy gets my vote.
- Quizzical - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:42 pm:
First a GOP press release that doesn’t blame Mike Madigan for something and now a Drury e-mail that doesn’t mention that he was a federal prosecutor — something weird is going on. I don’t know whether to buy lottery tickets or hunker down in the basement with emergency supplies.
- PJ - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:43 pm:
LakeEffect:
Did he perchance mentioned what job he had in federal government? I can’t quite remember what it was…
- The Captain - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:43 pm:
Drury’s campaign manager already quit and he’s barely raised any money. He can get free press any time he bashes Madigan but he’s demonstrated the ability to do little else.
- 360 Degree TurnAround - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:46 pm:
He lost the race today when he didn’t pick up Sheila Simon’s endorsement.
- Professor - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:48 pm:
I’m afraid this guy is toast but hay “it’s a free country”. If he thinks attacking the Speaker is the way to go, so be it.

Here’s how I’m reading all this… lol
Drury is around so Rauner’s Dark Money can bash Madigan and evey Dem in the Primary linking them to Madigan.
Drury’s only hurdle (ha) is to get and stay on the ballot.
If IllinoisGO still existed, and Besler was still at IOP, it would be Scott Drury being the vessel, infecting the Dem primary for Rauner, wounding the eventual Dem nominee, or derailing the nominee Rauner least wants to face.
Now? Now it will be the waiting game by both Drury and Rauner’s Dark Money.
Once it’s secure that Drury is in, this type of message, with a hammering and shaking towards the other and Madigan, that will be magically airing… with Drury “oblivious” of the origin.
I see the Hull of the ship…
- Truthteller - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:51 pm:
How big of an anti-Madigan’s caucus did Drury build in the time he’s been in the legislature?
I suspect his vote base in the Democratic primary will be about the same size.

If Kristina owns this state, she has a lot of bills to pay.
- wordslinger - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:54 pm:
If the intent is to come off as a self-absorbed bore, this letter does the trick.
- Moe Berg - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:56 pm:
A little more than $2,400 in reported contributions since July 1. And, he’s within striking distance of 1,000 Twitter followers (987). Is it the humorless, brittle personality or the constant focus on the negative that has inspired so many to support Scott? Can hardly wait for that top tier running mate pick.
Hope that Kennedy, Biss and Drury have enjoyed their time in the summer sun. Suspect that someone with ample resources might start to cast some shadows on their self-styled reformer images. Drury will be the most entertaining. There’s plenty of material.

I didn’t yearn? Did you yearn? Who yearned?
- votequimby - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:03 pm:
P.S. Kristina, did you know I used to be a federal prosecutor?
- VanillaMan - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:05 pm:
I bet this looked like a ransom letter, with torn letters glued into misspelled words.
- Flapdoodle - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:05 pm:
Wow, I thought Drury had been out of the state, like on a world cruise or something, but here he is again. Word is right about the letter’s tone. Drury and Madigan both have pants problems — Madigan wears his too high, Drury wears his too tight.
- Sue - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:08 pm:
Unfortunately Madigan will be here for as long as he wants or remains able to serve
- 47th Ward - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:08 pm:
Is he still auditioning to be a Rauner-funded stalking horse or has he been signed yet?
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:10 pm:
===Is he still auditioning to be a Rauner-funded stalking horse or has he been signed yet?===
I’m thinking they want to see how close he can get to staying on the ballot.
They have money to burn, but why waste the time.

==If Bruce Rauner and Donald Trump have taught us anything, it’s that experience and trust matter.==
Is this poorly written or does our former federal prosecutor think Rauner and Trump’s outsider experience bodes well for a former federal prosecutor? It doesn’t matter, by the time he gets his clock, it will be really well cleaned.

=== Drury’s campaign manager already quit and he’s barely raised any money. ===
Who was his campaign manager?
- Northsider - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:15 pm:
LizPhairTax @ 12:58: So we have Drury to thank for The Traveler appearing as Speaker Madigan?
- LakeEffect - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:18 pm:
PJ- Haha! Despite no mention in this email, I think he did a good job of burning that federal job into my memory the past several years- which I give him credit for!
- Anonymous - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:33 pm:
Kristina’s out of a job. Anyway it’s Diana’s money Drury wants.
- DisgruntledLaborer - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:48 pm:
Do people really think that Rauner is the only
person in Illinois who has issues with Madigan? Drury may not be the favorite amongst Springfield pols and lobbyists, but we all know that plenty of Democrats agree with his Madigan sentiments.

The Drury campaign email’s Margaret at my personal email address with my real name (may I add, I never signed up for his list). Margaret is my mother. Margaret does not use the internet. Who are his data people?
- Honeybadger - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 3:13 pm:
Rep Drury, please just go away. I know you are bitter you did not receive a clock, but jeez louise, just go away. What have you accomplished in your time in Springfield?
