*** UPDATED x1 *** Leader Durkin slammed in right-wing robocall
Tuesday, Sep 12, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * Someone claiming to be from the “Illinois Tea Party” is doing robocalls into House GOP Leader Jim Durkin’s district in an attempt to recruit a “conservative reform candidate” to run against Durkin. The caller claims Durkin is “anti-gun,” pointed out that he voted for “transgender birth certificates” and for “yet another suburban bailout of Chicago Public Schools.” The call also tries to blame him for the 15 House Republicans who crossed party lines and voted for the “Chicago Democrat” tax hike. “Durkin is no leader,” the caller claims. We need “conservative reform leaders,” the caller says, “who will fight Mike Madigan and the Chicago bosses rather than acquiesce to them.” As I told subscribers yesterday, I asked Dan Proft if he’s behind this call and never heard back… *** UPDATE *** With thanks to a commenter, Illinois Tea Party founder Denise Cattoni has posted the script on her Facebook page and appears to be the person in the call.

Robocall schmobocall. They’re all offensive, invasive garbage. All.
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 10:55 am:
I’m with Leader Durkin when he shows the governing acumen he knows he has.
The problem linking so closely with Rauner is you can get dinged by too many side intraparty-wise, including the Slytherins and the Grifters…
It’s an annoyance, these calls, nothing more.
Durkin would be wise to think about where his allies are, and where his friends stand too.

GOP needs more of this infighting and RINO stuff. Because clearly the alt right is the vas majoroty of the state and they just meed canidates to take control and get good laws passed.

100% correct. We’re gonna get started on confederate monument construction as soon as 2019 rolls around. Proft’s majority, featuring Jeanne Ives as speaker, will mandate one per county.
- Henry Francis - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 10:59 am:
Didn’t the Guv sign into law all those terrible things they complain that Durkin supported? When is this Illinois Tea Party going to start robo calling the Guv?
- DuPage Saint - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:00 am:
I think Proft works for Madigan
- wordslinger - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:01 am:
Sugar Daddy Uiehlein sure buys Proft some expensive toys to play with. It’s sweet that two such righteous paragons of virtue and purity could find each other in the unclean and comproming world of politics and governing.
So…. what about that $30M “in exchange for” deal Hinz wrote about last week?

Dumb, Dee Dumb Dumb.

It seems prudent to suspend belief, or disbelief, of who is behind this.
Robocalls funded by dark and untraceable money, oh joy.
The “inception election” is in full swing with so many layers of in-fighting that just keep going deeper and farther away from normal realities.
It’s probably healthy in some ways, but seems that it may just saturate some towards a new level of apathy.

It’s as if they kidnapped an IPI spokesperson, lobotomized them in an unsanitized makeshift lab, replaced their cortex with ambrosia salad, and sat them in front of a telephone.
- zatoichi - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:16 am:
Any robocall = click
- Ghost - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:16 am:
PJ since you will need a picture of yourself at said monumnet in order to vote, it will all work out well.
- skippy - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:32 am:
That was Jim Nalepa’s organization that made the call.

There once was an unwritten rule not to go after leaders in General Assembly.

Durkin would be wise to think about where his allies are, and where his friends stand too.=
Has the governor come out and denounced these attacks on his loyal leader?
Hmmmm…..that is interesting.

===Has the governor come out and denounced these attacks on his loyal leader?===
We live in interesting times.
I’ll leave it there.
- MissingG - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:49 am:
Hey Oswego Willy,
Did you get autocorrected? Because last I checked “Slytherins and Grifters” don’t exactly go together like Peanut butter and Jewelry
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 11:56 am:
=== Because last I checked “Slytherins and Grifters” don’t exactly go together like Peanut butter and Jewelry===
I wrote…
===you can get dinged by too many side intraparty-wise===
I guess that makes jewelry and peanut butter two different sides..

Denise Cattoni with the Illinois Tea Party has that script posted to her Facebook page…..
- Norseman - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 12:38 pm:
I can’t help but shake my head over this extremist right attack on Durkin. If anything, Durkin should be criticized for delaying a resolution to the impasse. It’s easy for the folks funding these efforts to take their extremist positions because they are not as adversely affected by gridlock as those with lower incomes.
- Undiscovered country - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 12:39 pm:
Am I wrong or was that Jeanne Ives voice on the call? /s (sort of)
- Been there, done that - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 12:56 pm:
Mr. Miller, maybe you or one of your readers can answer a question I have been pondering for quite some time………….
These tea party/type groups have been around for 7-8 years and in that time they have been actively involved in the political arena; they have raised money and spent money helping or working against candidates, campaigns, referendums, and such - so why do they not have to file as a PAC with the State Board of Elections?
- Wuh - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 1:40 pm:
Durkin voted FOR concealed carry . . . not against it.
- Joe M - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 3:44 pm:
And here I never liked Durkin because he is TOO conservative.
- A guy - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 4:29 pm:
To the update….Ugh.
- NorthsideNoMore - Tuesday, Sep 12, 17 @ 8:11 pm:
Have they “won” any races or does this crew just pontificate and punch holes in things…Durkin held that bunch together longer than any GOP leader could have would have in the past 20 years. This right wing standing on self righteous ground stuff will cost them seats in 2018 ….just what the GOP needs …..mMeh not so much? Keep protect who you have.
