Chris Kennedy Boasts Endorsement From Soda Tax Supporter
Jesus ‘Chuy’ Garcia, staunch Preckwinkle ally and supporter of the Soda Tax, endorses Kennedy, tying him to the Chicago Democrat money-grab
“Garcia and Kennedy are a perfect pairing because they are both clearly out of touch with Illinois voters. Garcia’s support of the Soda Tax despite 87% of Cook County residents’ disapproval just goes to show that Chicago Democrats like Garcia and Kennedy are wrong for Illinois.” - Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Aaron DeGroot
On Thursday, Chris Kennedy held an event to highlight his endorsement from Jesus ‘Chuy’ Garcia, Toni Preckwinkle’s loyal floor leader on the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
Kennedy’s willingness to showcase support from someone who voted for the Soda Tax overwhelmingly opposed by his constituents makes it clear that he does not care about Illinois families and taxpayers.
Instead, Kennedy is spending his time courting more members of the Madigan Machine, trying to curry favor with Chicago insiders.
The people of Illinois are watching. Chris Kennedy should be worried if he continues to choose Chicago insiders over Illinois families and taxpayers.

Waiting on that ILGOP release on
Schneider’s “disappointment” with Lying Bruce Rauner.
- Honeybadger - Friday, Sep 29, 17 @ 12:26 pm:
I think the Illinois GOP better worry about their candidate for governor and every other candidate in 2018
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Sep 29, 17 @ 12:31 pm:
When $70 million is parked and Rauner is sitting 60+% in the disapproval pool, you ding where you can, and close with “because Madigan”
Drury was Rauner’s “in” to influence the Dem’s Gubernatorial race.
They don’t have that anymore.
So, we get drivel like this, which is a fair shot at the Soda Tax, but just hasta go “Madigan” as required by contractual agreement.

Neat list of issues, ILGOP…
Who did Kennedy or Garcia lie to about any of them?

Probably inevitable, probably meaningless.

Maybe Kennedy and Chuy also are figuring voters are going to remember Chuy ran against Rahm… more than being so closely tainted by the Soda Tax?
That’s really the discussion with this endorsement… the Sanders provables and the run against Rahm as the wood to build the house.
We’ll see how Kennedy’s Crew goes about using Chuy, full throttle.

Dear ILGOP,
Just finding a reason to complain about everything, does not convince me you have a solution. 2 1/2 years into the current administration and we still have no idea what the ILGOP is going to do to make this state better.
Democrat=bad, check. Now what exactly are you doing?
P.S. Donald Trump is President because the DNC spent 18 months attacking him without presenting any solutions.
P.S.S. Maybe you guys should steal the Browns playbook and give it to the Bears while you are at it.
- anon2 - Friday, Sep 29, 17 @ 12:55 pm:
So Kennedy is tainted by an endorser’s position on an issue, a position Kennedy doesn’t share? If so, then would a GOP legislator be tainted by taking money from the biggest friend in the gov’s office pro-choicers have ever had?

Um, OK. Don’t quit your day job if that’s your analysis.

And I think that’s a reasonable assumption.
Although the Sanders halo has not proven easy to transfer.

GOP attacks are going to devolve to all taxes, all the time, at all levels. Easy route to pockets.
- Real - Friday, Sep 29, 17 @ 1:24 pm:
I’m voting for democrats, but I think it’s stupid of the dems to endorse other candidates when you are not in good favor with voters yourself. This is like Precwinkle endorsing somone. Sometimes it’s better not to endorse because by endorsing you are causing voters not to support that candidate.

I saw that one coming a mile away.

This would have been better off left alone. Chuy is a very solid “get” for Kennedy. He has a following that listens and allows him to move votes.
It’s in the GOPs interest for this race to be real on the Dem side. Unsolicited advice: Shut up and let them fight.

I disagree. Every Democratic candidate will be better off with a real primary to serve as a shake-down cruise.
