Today’s number: $2.5 million
Friday, Dec 22, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller
* Buried in today’s “Morning Spin”…
Gov. Rauner’s campaign on Thursday reported a $2.5 million political contribution from Illinois’ wealthiest person, records show.
The donation from billionaire hedge fund founder Ken Griffin adds to the $20 million he gave the governor in May.
Griffin, the founder and CEO of Citadel, has been Rauner’s largest donor outside of the governor himself. It was almost exactly one year ago that the governor reported putting $50 million into his campaign fund.
* So, yep, it seems almost tiny now…

With IPI, Proft & Uihlein feeling burned, it’s Ken & Bruce against the world

Today’s Number: 0
The number of stories you’ve written about the WTTW special report on absurdly high teacher pensions, and the gimmicks union officials used to get spiked pensions at taxpayer expense.
Wouldn’t want to offend your core demographic of people on state payroll or state pensions.

I wonder how that conversation goes, when a guy estimated to be worth hundreds of millions asks a guy worth billions for money?
I doubt very much I’ll ever know for sure.
- Real - Friday, Dec 22, 17 @ 1:26 pm:
And republicans think these 2 millionaires and billionaires must have there best interest at heart. #sad

= absurdly high =
Sounds like an editorial piece, not news.
Speaking of taxpayer expense: How do the Munger crew costs, executive-inflicted interest costs, and the Deloitte compensation packages come in as a taxpayer expense?

Word:
That “for sure” on the end means you’re still holding out hope.

Republicans what do you see? Are you really this blind?
You think these 2 guys who have done nothing for anyone in the private sector now all of a sudden want to do something for you by being a governor? Time to wake up gullible republicans.

Those look like mostly administrator pensions to me. And I’ve posted a ton of stories about this topic, so bite me and merry Christmas.

We’ve got to get the cost of wages down in this state one way or another so that Griffin can get a nice return on his investment. We need more workers having to work two jobs just to scrape by. That’s Rauner’s great vision for Illinois.

So, our Volunteer in Chief is worth nearly $62,000 a day to Ken Griffin (Dec 1, 2016 through today). Not bad for someone “not in charge”. Was this Rauner’s year-end “bonus”
- Grandson of Man - Friday, Dec 22, 17 @ 2:09 pm:
Bruce Rauner is an insider who bought a political party with two billionaires and is hurting the state in an unprecedented, purposeful and cruel way, to advance his anti-worker, pro-billionaire special interest agenda.
Bruce Rauner and his two billionaires make union funders look like little kids breaking a piggy bank, compared with all the money the three put into politics since he began running for governor.

Well we know at least 2 people support the Governor, Ken and Bruce. Or 1 if Bruce supporting himself doesn’t count.

That was 70% or so of a normal statewide race’s budget not too long ago…
… now it’s just a phone call and an EFT away for some.
Just a different time.
