Wednesday, Feb 14, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * The last leaders’ meeting was in early December of 2016, so I suppose this qualifies as man bites dog…

Another way to put it is this is the first time Rauner met with the 4 leaders since Bill Brady took over the Senate GOP

Also, after yesterday & everything else MeToo, it’s kind of depressing to see 5 50+ white men hashing out the state budget.
- Iggy - Wednesday, Feb 14, 18 @ 10:20 am:
As Madigan sees a tumbling JB and a not so viable general election ready Kennedy and Biss, he is forced to pretend to care, as he might be in for another 4 years of publicly fighting with the gov. Better look engaged now, because yesterdays snarling crumpled man in the black suit is going to be in the media spot light for the duration of the me too snowball.

Unless Rauner can secure 60 and 30 and doesn’t think it’s time to call Madigan corrupt, or Cullerton… whatever he call Cullerton, it changes like the wind blows, this is a nice thingy I guess to do, but Rauner will blow it up by attacking Dems in a way to make it impossible to get 60 and 30, and will propose things all 5 know Rauner can’t get 60 and 30 to use against the other 4.
I should send them Cannoli, at least they can enjoy a delicious pastry while waiting out how long this phoniness needs to play out for Rauner to look “in charge”

” 5 50+ white men hashing out the state budget.”
Doubt if there is much “hashing” going on. Rauner is probably saying this I’m going to say, and the others are probably sitting there thinking “the man is insane, nothing like this can possibly pass”…

It’s like a depressing movie where you hope they never make a sequel, and then you see the trailer for “Working Together on a Grand Bargain II”

His approval is at like 29%. It’s almost difficult to be less popular across the state than he is right now. He’s not guaranteed to lose, but I don’t think any rational analysis of the last few weeks would make him feel that much better.

One reason Madigan will fight stepping down is that he couldn’t stand the Rauner chest pounding squawking lie, “I took down Madigan”. Exclamation Points galore.

Revenue idea - put them in a glass box and charge admission for the viewing of this *rare* sight. /s

4 Irish guys and a German walk into a bar…insert your line
- Shytown - Wednesday, Feb 14, 18 @ 12:17 pm:
Gotta start somewhere, I guess…
- Bull Halsey - Wednesday, Feb 14, 18 @ 12:26 pm:
How does Fax Machine feel about the Constitutional Convention of 1789. The signers of the Declaration of Independence? The legislators who passed The Bill of Rights? Is he recommending that elections should only count a little bit, and additional ‘leaders’ arbitrarily appointed based on age, gender and race? Or was the comment mere virtue posturing?
- Precinct Captain - Wednesday, Feb 14, 18 @ 1:47 pm:
Plenty of room there I’m sure with Rauner’s empty suit.

And only one stays sober and it’s not the German.
- Mama - Wednesday, Feb 14, 18 @ 5:46 pm:
There is something terribly wrong when the governor does not meet with his four legislative leaders for 14 months. This shows Rauner is not a leader, and Illinois needs a full-time leader.
