Election day time-killers
Tuesday, Mar 20, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * There’s usually not a whole lot of campaign-related news on election day, so we’re all looking for ways to kill some time. The Pritzker campaign has a new video that features some funny ad outtakes, a clip of Juliana Stratton dancing, Pritzker driving (yes, the billionaire drives) and more. Have a look if you need something to do… * For whatever reason, I like this a lot…
* The governor seems to have calmed down a bit since he made the first video yesterday…

The ghost of Reginald Van Gleason appears to be running for governor.

In the 42nd ward they have a bunch of signs saying that the woman running against Berrios vote will not count, Way to go David Orr, corruption to help his buddy Fritz.

So does Rauner fly to Italy immediately after losing to Ives and let Sanguinetti become Governor? Or does he at least finish his term?

I assumed Rich was taking a nap.

That JB video is great, perfect for Election Day… Laugh. Take the tasks serious, don’t take yourself serious. Be kind. Be above the jaded thoughts. Have fun, work hard. The video shows what campaigns are all about when you’re in ‘em

I asked the guv after the 2016 election why he maintains his voting address in Winnetka and not in Springfield. He didn’t really answer.
- milchfrau - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:46 am:
Pritzker will win today and again in November.
By this time next year, Mike Madigan will still be de facto governor but will be 100% in control.
That’s the way Illinois voters want it, and that’s the way it will be.
- wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:49 am:
Outtakes are humanizing.
When’s the last time you heard a guv candidate give extended praise to his running mate?
- Not It - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:52 am:
Every time I see the Governor it looks like he has lost more weight, and I am starting to get concerned.

David Orr is the Cook County Clerk. He doesn’t oversee elections in Chicago; that’s the Chicago Board of Elections. But, thanks for playing.

The JB video is great. That’s the guy I know. Very warm, sincere and self-deprecating. Today’s gonna be a great day.

Gargoyles for Biss is priceless.

Most accurate comment I’ve seen today. I still think the Welcome to Illinois signs across the state should say: Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here. It might not be welcoming but it would be honest.

I thought he was going to ask me to buy a used car, oh wait he is and it is him. #fraud

Rodeo Rauner costume in full overdrive. Must be Tuesday

The Madigan mind control made me write that.

The gargoyles for Biss is “College Game Day” worthy.
Exceptionally well done.

Since this is the closest thing to an “open thread” on the election season that concludes today, I’d like to say how glad I am that I won’t have to see incessant political ads, at least until tomorrow, when it all begins again.
But the one ad I am particularly thrilled will no longer be running is the Scott Drury ad in which he asks “what are they a-scared of”. I cringed every time I heard him say that, and I don’t think it was an accidental grammatical error, either.

Whatever the outcome, I am shocked Biss went all in. Will he ever be able to recover politically. We shall see
- Real - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:19 am:
Rauner didn’t calm down. His cheerfulness is only an act.

Do you even live here? If so, why?
- dbk - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 12:40 pm:
JB is so very personable - and it isn’t an act, you can tell he’s genuine. And so is Juliana Stratton. That was fun.
Maybe everybody should get a little shut-eye this afternoon/early evening? Could be a long-ish night…

Shouldn’t the governor be wearing his Gondolier outfit?
