Bruce Rauner Has Failed At Growing Jobs in Illinois

Bruce Rauner told us he could grow jobs, but after three years in office Illinois is growing fewer jobs than before Rauner. Invest in our state, stop attacking working families, and let's get Illinois back on track!

I like most of the content but it’s to long, and it seems like they could have cut out :25-35 and nothing would be missed. I agree that Runner’s a ridiculous person but I’m not sure if the general public would agree with mocking him about it.

Job growth worse the Quinn. Good point. Give it a B. A bit long, but OK for online.

That’s exactly the bit I didn’t like. They included plenty of facts, and she presents well, so the snark isn’t necessary.

IWT continually engages in the tactic of mockery when engaging in Rauner criticism, some of which can be excessive towards a candidate who often paints himself as a “victim”. Mockery may not play so well toward a perceived “victim” so much as expressing disappointment in Rauner’s performance. Based like mockery more than the general public, IMO.

It aims for a different kind of voter. It’s chatty, silly and NEIGHBORLY. A good nice ad.

    I give it an “A”.

C at best. The entire IWT is always clever by half and that’s why they raise little money, have a paltry amount of social media followers and create ads that are easily forgotten.

It’s a good format, but bad writing and execution. Plus, what working class family has a high-end coffee market, granite counters and stainless steel appliances?

Not saying that people cannot afford it, but it’s a strange set for the organization. Should have hired Daniel Biss’ video crew because they nailed the home ad.

    It’s a “B-“

    “Why?”

No need to mock. Make the case. You have statistics to make your case, why mock?

I feel less sympathy/empathy for the actress / real person in the video with the mocking. It turns me off the plight.

If the mocking is to keep those already anti-Rauner engaged, then you’re telling me you’re preaching to the converted?

It’s a “B-“… and this could’ve been so much better, abd that “B-“ is closer to a “gentleman’s C” than to that “high B”

They failed to pound home why Quinn beat Rauner when Quinn had a worse economic situation

Answer- because Rauner gutted DCEO and IDES, eliminating whole departments, closing offices and not filling positions.
Decimating the two main agencies charged with
Ramping up the economy and jobs.
All to pave the way for Intersect Illinois
    A private sector
    Non Foia
    For profit entity
( to be fair II did try to claim 501c3 status as a public private partnership P3 by citing “government inefficiency” as the IRS justification. Even though they gutted both agencies they still failed to get the status. )

    Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
    Intensionally destroy it
    Then cite inefficiency and incompetence
    To conveniently offer
The ready made private sector solution.
    That’s a huge reason why
We don’t have a better economy
And why Quinn did better at jobs

    But I get it
    Voters don’t do nuance
    But maybe they could have
Said that in the long video
    In a more palitable way.
    Maybe
“Why did Rauners Intersect Illinois “give” 49 million and an auto plant to a car company that’s never made a car or even a functioning prototype?”

B-. It’s funny and she’s engaging, but the format just won’t reach anyone who’s not already on her side.

===They failed to pound home why Quinn beat Rauner===

Might not be best to focus on the pre-Rauner era. There’s a reason we got to where we are today.

Did Dan Proft put this ad together? Definitely has his usual production quality.

  12. - Responsa - Thursday, May 17, 18 @ 1:31 pm:

Who is this woman? And why is she preaching to us? Did not care for her. Message is way too long and too snarky to be effective. And who is the target audience? This won’t resonate much with people who have jobs –and people who do not have jobs do not care a rip about his Carhartt jacket or his speech affects.

    Grade C-

  13. - Moe Berg - Thursday, May 17, 18 @ 3:50 pm:

Self-indulgent snark from a random person standing in a kitchen who wastes viewers’ time. Would I pass it along to a friend and say “you gotta watch this”? No. And, I badly want to see Rauner defeated.

Do better IWT or don’t do at all.

  14. - City Zen - Thursday, May 17, 18 @ 9:16 pm:

A swing-and-a-miss by the Illinois AFL-CIO. Moe Berg said it best: self-indulgent.

  15. - Ron - Thursday, May 17, 18 @ 11:02 pm:

    D, just plain bad
