Rauner recycles another Blagojevich ad from the primary

Thursday, Jun 7, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Press release…

Today, the Rauner campaign is launching a new paid digital ad as part of a series shining light on the corrupt relationship between disgraced ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich and JB Pritzker.

This ad includes audio from FBI wiretaps of Pritzker and Blagojevich discussing who would be the “least offensive” African-American to fill Barack Obama’s Senate seat.

* Oddly enough, Blagojevich’s voice isn’t heard in this clip

* Text from a pal…

lol the new rauner ad played back to back with the new pritzker ad this morning in champaign. it is officially on

I have to wonder if Blagojevich gets out, if he could sue Rauner for using what were sealed tapes in a television ad. Blagojevich certainly needs the money and it’s not as if those tapes were supposed to be in the public domain. And I am pretty sure Blagojevich didn’t give Rauner permission.

Blagojevich is a private citizen now so Rauner is likely violating his rights by playing them. Honestly, Blagojevich should probably seek an injunction since those tapes could jeopardize the commutation of his sentence.

  2. - SSL - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 9:46 am:

Interesting theory there Jack, but didn’t Blago say he wanted all the tapes released?

The tapes are about Blago and JB and their special friendship. The tapes aren’t about Rauner.

Do you like the character JB demonstrates on the tapes?

  3. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 9:46 am:

It’s a head scratcher to an honest realty.

Rauner is at 26% approval, with June (Summer) here, you’d think with his first signed budget, a semblance fiscal responsibility and cooperation with Democrats, whom Rauner wants courted, (and indies… Repubs, not so much, but I digress), a positive prong right now, not a web “Brewskis prong”, would make the most headway, as Rauner still being unlikable is a hurdle.

If the Rauner Crew is resigned to the fact Rauner isn’t likable, than “Bruce Rauner Failed” should scare them much-much more than they let on…

Oh… that 16% solely blaming Rauner… it’s sounds nice, but if only 16% blame Rauner, and only 26% approve of Rauner, how can that not be a “We don’t like Bruce Rauner” problem?

But, by all means, ignore the numbers.

    “What was he thinking?”

  5. - A guy - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 9:53 am:

“If you have to…” “least offensive” you know because they’re all offensive????

    These are very ugly conversations.

==I have to wonder if Blagojevich gets out, if he could sue Rauner for using what were sealed tapes in a television ad. ==

    Eek. First, why would he?
Second, Why would he have to get out to do this?
    Third…nevermind.

Saw the ad on WGN TV morning show today. Also saw Rauner interviewed on the same station.

  8. - Louis G Atsaves - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 10:08 am:

Willy, by the RaunerFailed postings on Facebook and the angry blowback they are getting in the comments section, the whole RaunerFailed idea is a double headscratcher.

    Go check it out.

=== Facebook and the angry blowback they are getting in the comments===

The plural of the word “anecdote” is not “data.” Same goes for Twitter mentions.

    - Louis G Atsaves -

I’ll stick with polling, thanks, that no one seems to want to refute with their own polling showing otherwise.

  11. - Lucky Pierre - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 10:17 am:

I guess only Rauner “trolls” follow RaunerFailed on Facebook.

If Rauner was truly in charge of the House rules committee his Turnaround agenda would have been called for votes on the House floor instead of being ignored for 3 1/2 years.

You are right Louis it is a head scratcher why JB keep posting this

His messages are going over like lead ballon

  12. - A Jack - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 10:27 am:

SSL… actually Rauner’s record is more of a determinate than a very old conversation in who I will vote for in the next election.

A Guy… Why would he? Publicity, money, just because he is who he is. He is going to need a lot of money to get a decent haircut after he gets out.

===If Rauner was truly in charge of the House rules committee his Turnaround agenda would have been called for votes on the House floor instead of being ignored for 3 1/2 years.===

    For the 9,794th time.

If there were 60/71 for these bills, Rauner can out these members on the stairs and behind microphones and a podium to embarrass Madigan.

    “Lucky Pierre”

    1) Show the 60… 71 House members.

    2) If you can’t show them, list them here.

    Otherwise, you have nothing.

===You are right Louis it is a head scratcher why JB keep posting this===

How do you reconcile “Pat Quinn failed” working… and “Bruce Rauner failed” not working?

Actual polling says Rauner sits as the most vulnerable incumbent in America, while also being the worst Republican governor in America.

    You should be asking yourselves…

“How can Rauner be behind JB by double digits? He’s under water in polling… “

    Maybe Bruce isn’t likable.

Once or twice I would agree with you. But going through the entire Facebook Page since set up by that campaign I see a strong (and angry) pattern of behavior in the comments that seems to be growing louder.

The Pritzker campaign is free to ignore this type of evidence (anecdote) if it wishes. It’s his money.

  15. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 11:20 am:

===Once or twice I would agree with you.===

    “Objection”

    “Overruled”

    “No, no. I strenuously object”

    “Oh, in that case…”

Fist hurting from pounding on the table - Louis G Atsaves -?

When the facts are on your side, pound the facts. When the law is on your side, pound the law. When neither is on you side, pound the table.

  16. - Louis G. Atsaves - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 11:46 am:

===Fist hurting from pounding on the table - Louis G Atsaves -? ===

Nope. It’s JB’ money. Just pointing something out. You disagree with me. As usual. And that is fine.

  17. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 11:50 am:

    ===You disagree with me.===

    No.

You disagree with polling, and agree with a premise that anecdote > polling.

I get it. Rauner’s polling must be so bad, that while 16% of the people polled blame him solely, he must be so badly under water and trailing… it’s hard not to see Rauner is anything but unlikable.

But, make it about me. lol

  18. - Precinct Captain - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 2:42 pm:

This clip caused problems before, but Pritzker overcame them. Why would this work again?

  19. - wordslinger - Thursday, Jun 7, 18 @ 4:08 pm:

Where’s the toilets spot? I find it hard to believe that this Blago stuff is more compelling to persuadable voters.

  20. - Rabid - Friday, Jun 8, 18 @ 7:49 am:

Must be worried about when is Obama coming back to get him
