Happy 40th anniversary, Scott!
Tuesday, Jul 3, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * Scott Fornek began working for the Chicago Sun-Times forty years ago this week, on July 5, 1978. In an era of newspaper downsizing and job-hopping, Fornek has been an every-day, one-paper workhorse. Here he is during earlier times…
I have… no words. * Anyway, his co-workers threw a surprise party this afternoon for their paper’s invaluable political editor…
Gotta love a man with a beard.

Scott is a newsman in every sense, at a time when there aren’t many left. Congrats, Scott. The paper and city are better for your work. As for the beard though . . .

For someone to work in any job for 40 years, much less one newspaper. Congrats Scott on 40 years.

Congrats, great job.

Cast him for a wax figure to place in a museum, because no one in the future would believe his kind ever existed.
Put his wax figure next to the wax figure of the lady who knew how to bake bread.

It’s a family legacy too. Top notch. Happy Anniversary.

I remember when he started and his fellow Sun Timer, Charlie Wheeler, said to watch him because he is a good reporter. Coming from Wheeler, that was enough to convince me that Scott was there to stay, and stay he has.

Great pictures–got to love the 70’s. And congratulations. My dad was 50 years in the same job (university professor)–he used to throw what he referred to as “treadmill” parties–40 years on the treadmill, 45 years on the treadmill…
