    I’ll bet the cups are half the size of last year too.

  2. - Louis G. Atsaves - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:33 pm:

    $4 for Schlitz beer? Ick.

    Slow news day?
    Maybe for big stuff
    But Rauner saying he won’t pay the Step increases, ignoring a court order, ILRB order and crapping all over the rule of law is pretty impactful to 35 thousand state employees.
    Also Vivian Robinson of Southern Illinois was appointed vice chair of the illinois Democratic Party. I love me some Vivian.

  4. - Baggs McCoy - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:38 pm:

    Bartenders will make more in tips…and someone will come up with a way to make sure they pay the tax on that extra buck.

  5. - Reality Check - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:43 pm:

    I guess Bruce didn’t take Willie Wilson’s advice and make it free.

  7. - Henry Francis - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:44 pm:

    See what happens when you implement local control? Prices go down and everyone can drink more beer.

  8. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:45 pm:

    ===make it free===

    Free beer but they installed pay meters on the port-o-potties so it’ll cost you $20 per visit to recycle your beer.

  9. - Illinois Resident - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:46 pm:

    Maybe when cannabis is finally legal in our state, we can also choose the safer alternative to consume as well.

  10. - I Miss Bentohs - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:49 pm:

    Which State Fair? Friendly reminder, we are that wasteful state that has two of them.

  11. - Cyprian - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:49 pm:

    Will Bruce Rauner thank Mike Madigan for this?

  12. - Rich Miller - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:49 pm:

    ===pay meters on the port-o-potties so it’ll cost you $20 per visit===

    I’m sure there will be zero unintended consequences to that idea.

  13. - Wylie Coyote - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:52 pm:

    Since many of the stands sell beer by the bottle that may be real good news. Especially since that means some of the craft beers scattered around the stands may be an even better deal.

  14. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 1:57 pm:

    ===zero unintended consequences===

    Lol. Springfield will smell like Wrigleyville after a Cardinals weekend series.

  15. - SW - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:04 pm:

    When the Fair raised beer prices to $5 that was it for me. After paying to park and pay for admission and 6 beer tickets for the wife and I, I figured I was paying close to $10 a beer. The only positive thing was the beers were very cold.

    Springfield will smell like Wrigleyville….every day. lol

  17. - Leigh John-Ella - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:09 pm:

    20 percent drop in prices.
    See what happens when Illinois pays vendors on time.

  18. - Responsa - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:24 pm:

    In other related news, Dorothy Brown lowers the price of jeans day.

  19. - Saluki - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:31 pm:

    I don’t care what the astrologer predicted…Rauner just won re-election.

  20. - Mike - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:39 pm:

    4.00 is still too much for Coors or Miller products. It’s a great deal for AB Beers. See ya at the Budweiser Tent!

  21. - Ok - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:46 pm:

    Only $4 because they are probably not handing out as many free drink tickets as they used to…

  22. - wordslinger - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 2:59 pm:

    –$4 for Schlitz beer? Ick.–

    Careful, Louis. You’re dissin’ on the source of the Uihlein fortune.

  23. - La La Land - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 4:04 pm:

    I think Rep. Charlie Meyer has convinced the State Fair that STAG Beer is the way to go!! Way Cheaper!!!!

  24. - City Zen - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 4:36 pm:

    PBR > Old Style > Schlitz > Miller > Dirty Water > Budweiser

  25. - Father Ted - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 4:46 pm:

    That’s well under half the price of a beer at a pro baseball game these days. I swear they go up 25 cents every year.

  26. - Mama - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 4:52 pm:

    How much will the crafted beers cost at the state fairs?

  27. - revvedup - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 5:04 pm:

    We’ve got posts about hot dogs AND beer in the same day?? :Swoon: I know, I know…they both involve Illinois politics in one way or another. :)

  28. - Anon - Thursday, Aug 2, 18 @ 7:15 pm:

    The Janas decision trickles down already
