Today, the Rauner campaign is launching the next “Brewskis with Bruce” video. This edition features Governor Rauner enjoying a cold brew with folks at DESTIHL Brewery in Normal, where he is asked about how we keep young Illinoisans from leaving the state. The governor speaks about how deficits and high taxes hurt job creation, and that forces young people to move elsewhere. This has been a problem in Illinois for decades and Governor Rauner is fighting every day to change that.
Question: What are you doing to make it more feasible for people like me after I graduate to find a job and stay in Illinois?
Governor Rauner: That is the number one priority. Because we have lots of challenges. Number one priority is to make Illinois competitive and attractive, and grow our economy faster. Our problem in the state of Illinois is that our government spending has been growing at a high rate and our economy has been growing at a slow rate.
As long as you’ve got that, you’ve got deficits, you’ve got higher taxes, and young people don’t see as many jobs, so they go to where they see more jobs. And then our tax base erodes and then that exacerbates the problem.
So that’s what’s been going on in Illinois for 30, 40 years. That’s what I’m fighting to change.
Since Pritzker supports legalizing marijuana, maybe he should counter this with “Joints with JB.” Just a thought. /s
==Number one priority is to make Illinois competitive and attractive, and grow our economy faster. ==
Unchanged since day 1, this is code for RTW, deleting health care from bargaining, etc., etc. hobble unions, drive down wages, cut spending, and the job creators will be vibratin’ w excitement. I know, thats how i made my dough.

Wait, I thought it was education?
As far as jobs go there are tons of jobs for young people in education, but since Rauner took office the numbers going into the business have dropped at a record rate. 40,000 fewer people ar going into education than before Rauner took office. For his alleged increase in education spending, the worst of the funding crisis came during his term as governor.
Nice one Rich. Rauner is totally fine with brewskis. But when cannabis can help our state with much needed jobs and industry he needs to think about it for a few more years.
Huzzah. More har-de-har folksy back slappin’ at Obed & Isaac’s and State Fair Farmer’s Market and accelerated costume changes…followed by returning to the not-so-folksy halls of government to take action against the interests of the very folks he schmoozed with.
The governor will realize that these predatory practices against the gullible have become less than effective, come November 6.
These practices are disingenuous and, I predict, no longer effective, if they ever were.
Rauner claims to be so pro jobs and industry in our state yet still wants to prohibit cannabis which is being legalized across the nation including Michigan soon. I guess he is not so pro jobs and industry for our state as he says he is.
Was the Brewskis event immediately prior to the Quincy debate? Because that would explain his appearance. He looked a little (hic) deshevled last night.
I wonder if Bruce will drink Miller HighLife?

Deficits hurt job creation? That’s not what he said a few weeks ago. He said that we had higher priorities than paying down our debt.
Decreasing the cost of labor is what Rauner is all about and he would be willing to put us through another budget crisis to get it if he would get a second term.
Yikes. Did anyone not think about “Skis with Timmy” and the alleged sexual assault that came out of that night? Might as well say Brewskis with Bruce and Brett.

Aw…
… I’m so glad it’s back, and it’s much better, (in that clip), than last time too.
I’m guessing the lag between the two is due in large part to waiting for the kegs behind them to ferment and provide a tasty beer?
I think the next one rolls out December 5th… if my math is right.

It can make Bruce more likable… but the issue is Rauner’s plan, and as an incumbent, has failed.
This video 4 years ago woulda been great.
It’s now a reminder how Rauner has failed, saying the very same exact thing… that few are buying now.
They coulda chose a better clip. People nodding to a failed message doesn’t make it better.
