New Rauner FB ads try to create doubts about Pritzker on race
Tuesday, Oct 16, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * The Rauner campaign launched some new Facebook ads yesterday…
Click here to see them all. * All seven ads link to JBOffends.com. The page features a couple of FBI wiretap videos and this… Kwasi Amoah, who is featured in the video, was recently quoted in a Dan Proft paper as being upset about a Democratic robocall against a Republican House candidate backed by Proft’s Liberty Principles PAC. That’s not to say he isn’t being sincere, by the way.

As a black male I am more offended by Bruce Rauner’s record in office than any decade old video tape. Rauner has no place to accuse JB when his record is a disaster and his goals are regressive.
- ItsMillerTime - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 2:49 pm:
I get Rauner is trying to suppress JB’s vote turnout with this, but I doubt it’s going to mean much coming from Mr. Illegals are causing violent crime in Chicago

Facebook?
Sad
- TopHatMonocle - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 2:53 pm:
They’re also running radio ads with this attack, heard one while flipping through stations this morning.

J.B. is such a racist he chose an African American female to be his lieutenant governor. Desparation politics at its fines Bruce Rauner.

- Grandson of Man - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 3:03 pm:
So beside running attack ads, when is Rauner going to start selling his “local control” plans and ideas to African-American voters? When is he going to be open with them about stripping power from public and private sector unions. Asking for a friend, as they say.
- theq - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 3:06 pm:
well I guess since the whole tax return thing didn’t pan out the next step is to shoot for racism

If you are still confused as to why it’s difficult to name the GOP SoS, Comptroller, and Treasurer candidates… ask yourself… what is the goal of this ad, and how does it tie into not having competitive statewide races…
- Christopher - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 3:13 pm:
Since all of the polls seem to show that Rauner will be defeated on November 6th, he’s already acting like a sore loser and using attack ads to alienate anybody he can against Pritzker in advance.
- Matts - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 3:13 pm:
Nice, Bruce. You really are a ‘persistent rascal”…..once you scrape the bottom of the political barrel, you dig deeper.
- Henry Francis - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 3:13 pm:
Rauner’s team missed the trifecta here.
Instead of using a clip of Mr. Amoah, they should have used a clip of the African American, union plumber who was originally supposed to rip out JB’s toilets, but instead JB paid one of Madigan’s nephews to do it.

New Rauner FB ads successfully eliminate any doubts about Rauner on race

JB loves Jesse White but not that much, he is the “least offensive”
African American politician that had a shot at being appointed Senator. That would include Valerie Jarrett.
Love to hear a member of the media ask Julianna her thoughts if she agrees all of the African American names floated for the US Senate after President Obama was elected were offensive.
Breathtaking how this kind of statement gets zero condemnation from the African American community.
- @misterjayem - Tuesday, Oct 16, 18 @ 3:40 pm:
By using targeted FB ads, Bruce can safely hide these ads from Diana’s North Shore social circle.
Gotta make sure they still get invited to all the right cocktail parties after the election, rite?

Can you handle the search committee to locate an African American union plumber in Chicago?
Are you forgetting about the history of institutional racism in the union trades in Chicago?

So Amoah in the newspaper article, is complaining that Rep. Natalie Manley, a Democrat, through Secretary of State White in a robocall, accused Natalie Benford, Republican challenger, of opposing funding “for thousands of rape kits.” The same charge appears in a mailer paid for by the Madigan Party of Illinois. Benford correctly notes that she was never in office or in a position to vote to oppose such funding or support it. Manley did her best to duck questions about the lack of truthfulness of that ridiculous charge.
I’ll pause right here so some can do the yuck, yuck, isn’t that great politics move.
Benford is a black Republican.
No dirty politics here. Nothing to apologize for. Move along folks . . . I know, I know, Madigan, Madigan, Madigan.

LP, do you want to understand how bad you, the other Bots, BTIA(TM) and Rauner have been in selling him this election?
Stick with me a little bit. Ever heard of John Cox? He was from Chicago.
In 2000, he ran in the GOP primary for John Porter’s House seat, finishing fifth with 10% of the vote.
In 2002, Cox got 23% and lost the GOP primary for senate to Jim Durkin, who got smoked by Durbin in the general.
In 2004, Cox lost an election for Cook County Recorder of Deeds to Eugene Moore.
John Cox is now the Republican in the runoff for governor of California against Lt. Gov Gavin Newsom. The RCP average has Newsom at 52.3%, Cox at 38.7%.
In Illinois, the RCP average has Pritzker at 43%, Rauner at 28.7%.
In other words, a three-time loser and sacrificial GOP lamb in California is running 10 points ahead of the incumbent GOP governor in Illinois.
That’s how good you guys are at selling it.

What is the strategy, what is the core message of this campaign?
These ads might have been impactful in the primary, they are not going to help in the general.
What’s Rauner’s core message?
Pritzker’s message is “Bruce Rauner failed.”
Rauner’s message keeps shifting between Madigan, Taxes, Corruption, Racists!, and “I’m sorry.”
Pritzker ought to run FB ads featuring Rauner saying nice things about Kavanaugh and target only women Ivy League graduates. It’ll cost him about $1000, but it will be worth it.

@Louis:
When someone attacks you for voting for a budget, you get to attack them for being against the things in the budget.
That is how logic and politics work.
If Republicans don’t want to be accused of being against funding rape kit testing, they should probably not attack Democrats for voting to appropriate funding that includes rape kit testing, or even the means to pay for it.
Sincerely,
YDD

The legend of George Smathers implying something that sure sounded wicked against Claude Pepper in the swamps and backwoods of Florida.
Legendary, but probably never happened.
