New McCann mailer features photo of fetus and claims: “Bruce Rauner made you pay for abortions”
Monday, Oct 29, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * Like the last one I told you about, this mailer was sent to a suburban, pro-life Republican woman…
* Meanwhile, Rep. Jeanne Ives was interviewed by the Sun-Times today…

I get the pay stub is a mock up, but he’s saying the “abortion tax” is twice the state income tax? Come on guy.
- Anonymous - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:04 pm:
So Ives is Republican first, pro-life second? Good to know.
- wordslinger - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:05 pm:
The McCann peeps really are swinging the beating stick at Rauner.
One meaningless vote that the bully-boy just had to get tough about, to teach them all a lesson….
Lesson learned, governor?
- Grand Avenue - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:05 pm:
At least make the effort to show you’re not just “JB Pritzker’s associate” by also throwing in on the mailer that Pritzker supports public-paid abortion access too. It looks too cute by a half when he only attacks Rauner for it.
- lakeside - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:06 pm:
Well, kids, we had a fun morning before returning to the ugly slog of this race. One week more.
- Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:14 pm:
“I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything… I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed.”
- Jeanne Ives, maybe.
- Chris P. Bacon - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:18 pm:
Jeanne Ives needs to give it a rest. We all know she really, really, doesn’t want her supporters voting for Rauner, but I’m guessing Proft or someone told her she needs to mouth the party line to stay “viable.” But of course she won’t just come out and say vote for Rauner either. We get more of these games instead.
Ives and her passive-aggressive approach to politics is really wearing thin. I think her 15 minutes is just about up.
- Rich Miller - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:22 pm:
===It looks too cute by a half when he only attacks Rauner for it===
Pritzker didn’t try to primary him.
- Flat Bed Ford - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:28 pm:
Ives is about to see Wheaton go full Democrat as she is doing nothing to help Amy Grant. Nothing. Roskam is about to be gone and Connelly too. Ives takes pleasure in that.
- Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:29 pm:
Rauner is an uber-left, costal, limousine liberal that signed HB40, something that even liberal California would call too much.
McCann is just making sure conservatives don’t forget.
- Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:35 pm:
Like the phony Mr. Breen.
Ya can’t say you’re pro-life and support Bruce Rauner.
Arguably the most liberal pro-abortion bill signed into law… was signed by Bruce Rauner.
Phonies ignore stuff like that.
- Cubs in '16 - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:35 pm:
===Pritzker didn’t try to primary him.===
That and Pritzker, to my knowledge, has never claimed to be anything but pro-choice. Sam is calling Rauner out for his deception on this issue. He’s reminding them why Rauner is in no way, shape, or form a social conservative.
- Grandson of Man - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:35 pm:
It’s the right message, and it should be pushed hard. This issue should have been in a TV ad.
- Cubs in '16 - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:37 pm:
Oops, sorry for parroting OW. I was typing when you posted your comments.

Nice Proft talking point OW California already had tax payer funded abortions since at leasdt 2014. See below:
https://www.liveaction.org/news/ca-taxpayers-millions-abortions-more/
That also includes Alaska, Maryland, New York. (All coastal states)
Don’t let facts get in the way of false talking points from IPI
- Retired Educator - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:44 pm:
McCann is on track to do as much damage as possible. Now send a mailer regarding Quincy. Everyone is a Veteran, knows some, or has one in their family. It will be interesting to see the final vote totals. Rauner could finish a distant 3rd.
- Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 1:46 pm:
===Nice Proft talking point…===
Nope. Been saying it far longer here, lol
===California already had tax payer funded abortions since at leasdt 2014.===
You should tell that to “Lucky Pierre”.
See, sometimes my comments are meant for an audience of one.

Example…
===- Lucky Pierre - Wednesday, Apr 19, 17 @ 5:07 pm
If HB 40 is so mainstream why does California have a similar law?
Only 4 states do. Are there only 4 pro choice Governors in America?
Taxpayer funded abortion on demand is a huge expansion of medicaid which in case you haven’t noticed has already been expanded. Can we afford the program as it is now much less expand it?
Can’t be any more liberal than California yet they do not allow.
Why is the liberal Governor of California who has a democratic legislature so behind the times===
K?

Kind of like your Slip and Sue comments from earlier today. Same talking points since October of 2013, but your target audience is unclear.

===Kind of like your Slip and Sue comments from earlier today. Same talking points since October of 2013===
Nah, that’s for my own amusement…
… or until Slip and Sue tells us how much was for the lawyers, and how much she kept for herself, after paying bills.
That’s some teaching by her. Never could tell us that.

Settled for 10K (public record with Wheaton) donated to Operation Support Our Troops. Lawyer got a third which also covered the deposition transcript.
- Turner - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 2:08 pm:
For Willy

Willy still agrees with Jon Zahm. Perhaps we can issue another FOIA for Wheaton.

Wordslinger, he should have asked AFSCME about the unintended consequences of “teach him a lesson.”

… and yet never produce a check… you know, for “the rest”.
Rich has a whole post on it…

From the post istelf…
===These are mostly taxpayer funded entities. When they are sued, the cost of government services rise to pay off the settlements and costs of litigation, and to cover the costs of increased insurance premiums. So what did these entities do to Evelyn to receive the wrath of her six count lawsuit?
Let me use exact words from her suit filed on her behalf by Chicago lawyer Ronald Stearney, Jr.:
“Allowed and permitted said sidewalk where pedestrians walked and frequently and necessarily used to enter and exit the College Avenue Train Station to remain, when said Defendant knew or should have known that said sidewalk caused an unnatural accumulation of water, snow, ice or other dangerous substances, which in turn posed a dangerous condition, especially to the Plaintiff Evelyn R. Sanguinetti.”
The suit goes on to say, 8 other ways, very similar things about the sidewalk on the way to that train station. Got to love legalese.
Unbelievable. You fall on a sidewalk while walking to the train and blame the government and penalize the taxpayers where you live and work.===
Slip and Sue sued for $100K…
Slip and Sue couldn’t produce a $5-7K check after paying the lawyers, and what were her medical bills. She asked for $100K.
Yeah, Slip and Sue… teachin’ lessons.
- Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 2:15 pm:
- Turner -
She sued for $100K. No check available to her donation, no idea of the medical bills… but she sued, $100K that’s the ball game.
Back to the original post, sorry Rich,
The concern Rauner has these last weeks is litigating the primary again.
Well, it’s the primary again. Not great for Rauner, HB40 still haunts.
- Cheryl44 - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 2:24 pm:
I’d prefer free (and freely available) sex ed (not that abstinence nonsense) and birth control. But I still don’t have a problem with paying for some economically disadvantaged woman’s abortion.
- Anonymous - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 2:54 pm:
Retired Educator, I hope your comment is tongue in cheek. A distant third??
Did you teach PE? Drivers Ed?
- Retired Educator - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 4:08 pm:
Social Studies including American Government. This is about the worst Political figure I have seen in 60 plus years. He is a disaster, his problem is that Illinois voters know it also.
- Retired Educator - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 4:14 pm:
With Quincy, Sterigenics (sp) Abortion, Lying to a Cardinal, and all of his conservative base, not to mention the budget woes, destruction of social services, and the Illinois College system (just to mention a few) I think he is going down hard. It is possible he won’t finish 2nd. Pure speculation on my part. but he is super bad, and even Hard R voters know it.
- 37B - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 4:31 pm:
Ives can’t even bring herself to speak Rauner’s name. Note to self: Try not to get on her bad side.
- Anonymous - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 4:54 pm:
So Retired, you think Sam the Man will finish ahead of Rauner?
Care to predict the vote totals for the 4 candidates?
- Sue - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 6:17 pm:
Doesn’t anyone think it strange how much money Sam has to spend in the last few weeks. The money isn’t coming from R donors and I guess we will never really know will we? With the amount of dough Pritzker has been doling out to Dems just maybe it’s draping into the Sam account
- Rich Miller - Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 6:18 pm:
===I guess we will never really know will we?===
We already do know.
