Hultgren being outspent by vast amount

* This is good advice. The Republican congressman from the 14th District Randy Hultgren shoulda probably taken it…

But I honestly believe that this year, it’s true, because our health care is on the ballot.
* Joe Biden emphasizes health care as he stumps in St. Charles for congressional candidate: Biden said any Republican who, like Hultgren, claims the GOP-backed American Health Care Act would have guaranteed coverage of pre-existing conditions is “simply lying about their commitment to pre-existing conditions.”
* Ex-Vice President Joe Biden stumps for Democrat Lauren Underwood: Hultgren, of Plano, was on stage with President Donald Trump in southern Illinois over the weekend. Hultgren said just a few words at the rally, telling the crowd hundreds of miles from his district to get out and vote early. “We’ve got a tough battle,” he said from the podium with Trump by his side, adding that Underwood is “absolutely dying to support Nancy Pelosi for speaker.”

* Letter: Vote for values, not leftist, pricey campaigns: Randy Hultgren doesn’t have $2 million from George Soros to stop Lauren Underwood’s lies about his record with TV ads. All Randy Hultgren can hope for is that his exemplary record in Congress will stop his constituents from believing the lies.

I thought I read recently that Hultgren still had $1 million or so on hand. Is he saving that for a rainy day or did he finally decide to spend it?
- wordslinger - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 1:45 pm:
Can’t figure out the thinking of the Hultgren crew. Even if they win, they’ve been recklessly lazy in the face of a clearly serious challenge.
Has he even produced a bio/intro spot? A poll here a couple of weeks ago showed that half his district didn’t know who he was.

Some people have a 401k, others have a campaign fund. If I’m the RNC I have trouble putting money in this district when the candidate refuses to do so.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 1:46 pm:
If Hultgren is taken down, it won’t be as much about a wave or the district changing…
… if Hultgren loses, Hultgren will be the next that was flat-footed, and let things happen *to* him, instead of always running like you’re 4-5 points behind.
We’ll see, Could make the night longer, could flip a seat, but what is for sure is this race now is on the radar, and Hultgren let the door be open by passiveness.
- WOB - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 1:56 pm:
Some races are unavoidable—like Roskam or Bost. Some are on watch lists. DCCC was watching this race and every break they needed they got. Better environment, good fundraising and an incumbent with no campaign. Hultgren could have put this race away in August by spending a modicum amount of money. Now he will spend everything, waste national resources and maybe not even survive.

US Representative Hultgren seems prepared to be this year’s Phil Crane.

One of my biggest regrets was campaigning for Hultgren because I lazily bought into the ACA rhetoric. Here’s wishing Underwood the best of luck in defeating Randy.

Hultgren losing this race would be very satisfying.
- Huh? - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 2:36 pm:
Don’t quite get the hypocrisy of the GOP. Liberal billionaires dumping money into Dem campaigns is bad. But conservative billionaires dumping money into GOP campaigns is good.

Tax the campaign contributions already. Look at the debt reducing possibilities in all areas of government.
- train111 - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 3:05 pm:
If Hultgren loses it’s because he found out too late that the R behind his name is no longer the golden ticket into office that it once was. You might have to actually work now to keep your seat.

The Illinois State Board of Elections shows no contributions by Soros to Lauren Underwood at all. Nor is Nancy Pelosi or Rosie O’Donnell listed. I wonder where letter writer Elsie Morrissey got her “facts”?

She posts on his facebook page… frequently.
Facts are not what her posts are known for.

Interesting that Bain Capitol is an Underwood contributor, though. Isn’t that Mitt Romney’s company?

Oswego Willy is right If Con. Hultgren loses, it will be his own fault. Nice man and a great dad. Has trouble taking a stand, lazy and burned through volunteers and staff.

I live in IL14. Randy Hultgren has been phoning it in since 2010. I don’t think he wants to work at being a congressman, whether it’s doing any measurable governing while in Washington or being responsive to his constituents here. It’s never seemed that his heart was in it.
- Midwestern - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 5:54 pm:
Randy Hultgren–Great guy; Good Congressman; Dreadful candidate.
- Jake From Elwood - Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 6:39 pm:
Underwood had a fundraiser in Geneva last night featuring the 90’s band Cake. It is wrong for me to suggest that she is Going the Distance and will defeat Cousin Randy?
Momentum is a big thing.

every single republican congressman who cast countless votes to eliminate ACA and the protections of coverage of those with pre-existing conditions, every single one are lying now about it. Having insurers “offer” is not “requiring”….its karma and they will lose BIGGLEY
