All rise

Tuesday, Jan 15, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller

* I mean, he is a Republican and he did lose the election, but both Republican legislative leaders rose…

…Adding… Legit classiness from Rauner’s staff…

* How do they say “bon voyage” in New Zealand?…

    How about GFY GovJunk?
BTW did he permission from the Foreman of the Adams Co grand jury?

  2. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:22 pm:

Classless. Should’ve stayed away if you’re not going to honor the peaceful transfer of power. Rauner’s distain for things won’t be missed.

    Huh…

The Rauners plan to go to New Zealand. They may find their way to Italy, but, as in typical Raunerite fashion, they will do the opposite of what they said, either to prove a point or continue to mislead their real intentions. It’s pretty poetic.

“Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly”… poetic.

  3. - Honeybear - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:23 pm:

You have no idea how many times I fantasized about an anti-Rauner haka.

    Seriously

  4. - Colin O'Scopy - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:23 pm:

Better yet, how do you say “Please go to Italy instead” in New Zealand?

  5. - Tweed Jacket - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:27 pm:

according to Google Translate “Please go to Italy in Maori” is “Tena haere ki Itari”

  6. - Huh? - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:28 pm:

“How do they say “bon voyage” in New Zealand?…”

Don’t let the door hit you in the a.. on the way out.

  7. - Demoralized - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:28 pm:

Kia pai te haere - Maori for bon voyage

  8. - Ducky LaMoore - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:28 pm:

Remember, in New Zealand, everyone expects you to go to the left….

  9. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:29 pm:

Pretty cool leave-behind in the governor’s office. Good on you.

  10. - DuPage Saint - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:30 pm:

After the Lieutenant Governor was sworn in and she said how great it was to have been elected as the first African American to that office she received a standing ovation execept from Rauner. If f you cannot stand for that achievement and also for a He achievement of the state of Illinois in electing her what do you stand for totally classless. Also he did not stand for Jessie White who deserved that respect just for his life accomplishments. And I am and old white republican who thought the whole thing optimistic and hopeful

  11. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:32 pm:

–“They said they are were going to take some time off and head for New Zealand for a while.” ⁦@ilgop⁩ Chairman Tim Schneider on what’s next for Bruce & Diana Rauner–

Yeah, because Rauner kept Schneider in the loop on all things….

You might want to sit out a few innings, slugger, and clear your head. That was quite a fastball you caught in the earhole last November.

  12. - Ole' Nelson - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:33 pm:

That a boy, Bruce. Lacking class to the very end.

  13. - Shamrockery - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:33 pm:

Love the whiteboard wishes! Classic Patty Schuh!

  14. - Montrose - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:34 pm:

Give them a break. They just woke up.

  15. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:36 pm:

    Goes to show…

You can have total class when working for a classless soul.

Good on those on the whiteboard. Awesome.

  16. - Al - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:36 pm:

They will be disappointed in New Zealand. Friends were just there and neither of the big Islands are for sale.

  17. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:38 pm:

    – Rauner stayed seated for all of the speeches when everyone else around him stood and clapped.–

What was he intending to communicate with that? All I’m getting is sore loser.

If you want to be a sore loser, just don’t show, like Quinn.

  18. - Nick Name - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:39 pm:

===Better yet, how do you say “Please go to Italy instead” in New Zealand?===

“Please go to Italy instead, mate.”

  19. - Huh? - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:40 pm:

    “anti-Rauner haka”

1.4% wouldn’t have understood the sentiment and thought it was something supportive.

Here is an All Blacks haka
    https://youtu.be/PptTeyYShdw

  20. - Leigh John-Ella - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:40 pm:

Is Rauner showing and not standing better or worse than not showing at all (Pat Quinn)

  21. - Norseman - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:45 pm:

Nice gesture by some of the staff. Regarding Rauner, nuff said.

  22. - Montrose - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:49 pm:

“Is Rauner showing and not standing better or worse than not showing at all (Pat Quinn).”

They are both bad. They both showed no class.

  23. - Southsider - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:51 pm:

Class move by the outgoing staff. Rauner didn’t do anything remotely good while in office, so why start now?

  24. - Southsider - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:53 pm:

Can anyone make out what was said between Cullerton and Madigan? I’d love to know…

  25. - JoanP - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 1:56 pm:

Well, it *is* summer in New Zealand.

  26. - Huh? - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:02 pm:

    – Rauner stayed seated for all of the speeches when everyone else around him stood and clapped.–

There is a perfectly good reason for 1.4% not standing and clapping. He sprained his ego, the pain of which made it too difficult to graciously stand and celebrate the inauguration.

Those sprained egos are quite painful and take a long time to heal for the emotional fragile people like 1.4%.

  27. - Annon3 - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:09 pm:

I hope they enjoy New Zealand and am sure they are staying at all the same lodges the Queen does when she visits the Islands.

  28. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:14 pm:

“Love the whiteboard wishes! Classic Patty Schuh!”

And classic Nicole Wilson, Whitney Barnes and Teagan. The words of encouragement are indeed a great show of class. Kudos to them.

  29. - CPS Eagle - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:17 pm:

Rruce Bauner at his absolute best.

  30. - The Dude Abides - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:22 pm:

Bruce Rauner turned out to be the person I thought he was 4 years ago. What a classless gesture. Rauner has to be seething about Pritzker signing those pro worker bills on his first day in office. No need to hurry back from New Zealand Bruce, trust me you won’t be missed.

  31. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:30 pm:

How do you say “go to New Zealand instead” in Italian?

  32. - JS Mill - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:45 pm:

=Rauner stayed seated for all of the speeches when everyone else around him stood and clapped.=

I am genuinely not sure why this is a story? Did people actually believe he would exit with class? This was expected behavior from both Mr. and Mrs. Rauner.

As The Dude Abides stated- Rauner is exactly who I thought he was 4 years ago.

  33. - FormerParatrooper - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:50 pm:

Class act to the end. /s

    Bye Rauner.

  34. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:57 pm:

Ow we know why he showed up at all. To show contempt. What a classless POS

  35. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 2:57 pm:

    Sorry. NOW

  36. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 3:41 pm:

The union-busting governor’s first move upon leaving office is to go to a nation with a Labour Prime Minister and socialized medicine? Was Illinois too conservative for him?

  37. - lake county democrat - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 4:05 pm:

Glad Rauner’s staff didn’t follow his lead, else all the “J” and “B” keys would have been missing from the keyboards.

  38. - Henry Francis - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 4:25 pm:

There just is no pleasing some of you.

For the past 5 years you have been complaining about what a phony Bruce V. Rauner was. Whether it was dropping his g’s, cruising around in his trash can van, talking about his immigrant grandfather living in a double wide; or wearing all of the ridiculous costumes.

For the 1st time he was real. He was genuine. He wasn’t pandering to the audience in front of him. He was showing us all what an effete, aristocratic, sore loser he truly is.

    And you still criticize him.

Here’s wishing Bruce gets everything he deserves in his retirement.

  39. - JoanP - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 4:41 pm:

=How do you say “go to New Zealand instead” in Italian? =

    Vai invece in Nuova Zelanda

  40. - Anon E Moose - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 5:05 pm:

Rauner seems to have deleted his personal Twitter account. https://twitter.com/brucerauner

  41. - Stuntman Bob's Brother - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 5:46 pm:

==Glad Rauner’s staff didn’t follow his lead, else all the “J” and “B” keys would have been missing from the keyboards==

Seeing as how Quinn’s staff apparently removed all the “G”’s, turnabout is fair play…

  42. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 5:54 pm:

Hey, New Zealand worked for Carol Moseley Braun. Stay a while Bruce and Diana.

  43. - Danny O'Keefe - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 6:11 pm:

They said this town’s a waste of time…
    I guess they’re right, it’s wastin’ mine…
Some gotta win, some gotta lose…
Good time Charlie’s got the blues (whistling to end).

  44. - Justacitizen - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 7:54 pm:

Agree Rauner should have stood and clapped at least once. However, Mendoza was enemy #2 to Madigan so I can understand his action. When u no longer have a dog in the hunt I guess u can act as u like.

  45. - Lou Holtz - Tuesday, Jan 15, 19 @ 8:29 pm:

==Seeing as how Quinn’s staff apparently removed all the “G”’s, turnabout is fair play…==
Stuntman Bob’s Brother - that is a false statement. Governor Quinn’s staff did not remove “G” keys or vandalize any property. Please don’t lie.
