Question of the day

Friday, Apr 12, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller

* The House and Senate have both adjourned, so spring break (or, as Sen. Don Harmon called it today, “In-district work period”) has begun.

I know several folks plan to kick off their break by stopping by the retirement party being thrown for Lisa Guinan today at DH Browns. The party starts at 3.

If you don’t know Lisa, click here for the House Resolution congratulating her for her many years of dedicated service to the Illinois House of Representatives, particularly her time spent as the House GOP’s Floor Manager.

I’m not sure yet what I’m doing for spring break. I will be taking some time off, but I haven’t yet been able to make up my mind.

Anyway…

* The Question: Your spring break plans?

Since my plans to Arizona and Vegas blew up, I am thinking somewhere tropic and close to the equator :) .

  2. - Honeybear - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 1:55 pm:

Spring break is not having to make school lunches for a week, nothing more.

  3. - Nick Name - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 1:56 pm:

Nerd out to Game of Thrones. Season 8 begins this Sunday.

  4. - Honeybear - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 1:58 pm:

I take it back. I’m going to go up to Oswego and search for traces of OW. Look for clues. That kind of thing.

I have not had a “Spring Break” since completing Grad School in ‘72. But now that I am retired I can do anything I want any time I want as long as I can afford to do so. Not altogether a bad place to be.

  6. - illini - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:09 pm:

@Honeybear - if you want a companion. I will offer to drive or pay for the gas.

  7. - Hyperbolic Chamber - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:10 pm:

    In-office work period.

  8. - Huh? - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:12 pm:

Drag the pond for the lost aerators. Plant new fruit trees. Stock pond with fish.

Wow. Congratulations to Lisa. Good for her. I never had the privilege of working with Lisa and that is my loss. All the best to you. And back to topic — I’m working spring break this year.

  10. - Collinsville Kevin - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:25 pm:

    Mow the lawn.

  11. - thoughts matter - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:27 pm:

Definitely the in-office work period, same as Hyperbolic.

  12. - Grandson of Man - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:33 pm:

I won’t have a spring break but I used to fish avidly. I’d like to get back into that a little. No quickie out of state vaca’s planned—maybe a regional, short fishing weekend.

  13. - Anonymous - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:34 pm:

Lisa is the absolute BEST! Warm wishes for many more great years and maybe a few more Dead shows in your future!!!

  14. - FormerParatrooper - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 2:40 pm:

    Collinsville

Wish lawn was long enough to mow up here in Northern Illinois

Still might see some snow this weekend

Oh well at least a break from SPI after 12 straight weeks

  18. - Lester Holt’s Mustache - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 3:33 pm:

Same as Kevin, mowing my grass. Got to change the oil in my rider first though. Also need to clean up tree branches and leaves that fell over the winter. I hate to burn them but out in the boonies where we’re at, there aren’t any other options

  19. - Anyone Remember - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 3:39 pm:

Barring breaking news, periodic checks here for pictures of Oscar!

  20. - RNUG - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 4:05 pm:

Already had Spring Break for the grandkids last week. Took them to the Children’s Museum in Indy (not impressed, St Louis is better in their opinion) and the Indy Speedway & Museum which did impress them.

Honey. Dont waste your time. OW is a myth. Ala paul Bunyun. Bigfoot.
