- City Zen - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 5:22 pm:
Was hoping we’d concentrate on the horizontal construction first.
- DuPage Bard - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 5:30 pm:
Awesome more taxes for projects beyond the gas tax projects. Wonder what the newest tax is?
- Ok - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 5:49 pm:
Is it coming together, though?
- Tim - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 6:14 pm:
Here comes 150 and the trades out of the woodwork looking for their cut. What a shocker.
- Augie - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 6:22 pm:
I wouldn’t say the trades are just coming out of the woodwork, they have always been pretty clear about there support for infrastructure projects of all kinds.
As they should be!
- Matt - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 6:23 pm:
Why is the gas tax being indexed to inflation, but the income tax brackets are not indexed to inflation?
Is it because this maximizes revenue for for taxes?

I imagine road construction will be the biggie.
- Matt - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 7:42 pm:
Does anyone think that the capital projects will include new water pipes for the south side of Chicago?
This could remove the huge liability of lead pipes for the city and would be a great gain for the Black Caucus.

The taxman cometh, and he comes for thee.
- Anon - Tuesday, Apr 30, 19 @ 10:08 pm:
I thought vertical construction was buildings? Why would that be the State’s concern? Or does vertical mean horizontal structures like pipelines?
- Louis Capricious - Wednesday, May 1, 19 @ 8:32 am:
=== Why would that be the State’s concern? ===
School buildings, affordable housing to reduce homelessness, facilities for individuals with a developmental disability, etc. All in the state’s interest.

Augie,
Infrastructure is a beautiful thing. If you have the money to pay for it. I’m not willing to spend another penny in taxes to cover projects that hospitals and universities should fund on their own just to keep trades guys busy. Generally speaking, when you are out of money, you quit spending first, or you prioritize as to what’s important. In Illinois, everything is considered to be important so they won’t quit spending. No thanks. I will vote against any tax increase and any legislator that favors one until I can retire and put Illinois in my rearview mirror for good.
