Question of the day
Wednesday, Jun 26, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller * We talked the other day about the advice various folks gave new Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot via the Center for Illinois Politics. They were also asked about their own personal “mantras” while they were serving in public office. Here’s DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin’s mantra…
* Former AG Lisa Madigan…
* Former Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan…
* The Question: What’s your personal “mantra”?

Something my grandfather once said. To set the timing, in the late 1960’s there was a serious problem with feral dogs around his farm.
Grandpa said if you are going to kill a feral dog, you need 3 things: a rifle, a shovel, and a closed mouth. The rifle to shoot the dog. The shovel to bury the carcass. And a closed mouth because you never know whose dog you killed.
To move to more modern times. The last can be translated to “if you are going to do a potentially bad deed, don’t post it on facebook.
