The musician. We have enough crazy in this world, don’t need to encourage it.

  2. - LizPhairTax - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:13 am:

I vote C. Video of Tom Walsh telling a joke.

  3. - BlackBalled - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:14 am:

Much rather listen to the musician. At least after all these years he doesn’t have to try to stay relevant

  4. - Distant Viewer - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:15 am:

Rocky Mountain way is better than the way we had.

  5. - efudd - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:16 am:

Anyone who opts for a politician over musician should seek professional help.

  6. - thunderspirit - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:18 am:

Definitely the musician. Life’s been good to me so far without having had to think much about the politician lately.

  7. - Steve - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:18 am:

The musician. Tea party Joe must be looking for a new gig because of his ratings.

  8. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:19 am:

    Joe Walsh.

    Musician.

The more sane the politician sounds in these insane times, I don’t need more things “Joe Walsh” to rationalize that our current climate is…

    a mess.

“Maestro, some Joe Walsh music, if you will…”

  9. - thunderspirit - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:19 am:

== Rocky Mountain way is better than the way we had. ==

This was played much better than mine. Kudos.

  10. - JS Mill - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:19 am:

    Is death an option?

  11. - Keyrock - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:21 am:

Seems to me, you don’t want to talk about it.

  12. - Twirling Towards Freedom - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:21 am:

I chose the politician because I really, really want to see a one on one debate between him and Donald Trump. That would be a spectacle.

  13. - Pot calling kettle - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:22 am:

Joe Walsh, running for President, all his speeches/rallies are concerts…all his policy proposals are communicated musically. He would be backed by the folks he played with over the years.

  14. - Draznnl - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:23 am:

Not a fan of either. I chose the musician only because you didn’t have option c: train brakes screeching.

  15. - Grandson of Man - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:23 am:

    The musician.
But run, Joe, run. Ought to be fun. Walsh seems pretty nimble with words and Twitter and should be game for the fight.

  16. - Red Ranger - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:25 am:

It’s hard to leave, if you can’t find the door.

  17. - Biker - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:25 am:

I saw former Rep. Joe Walsh’s interview on Paris Schultz. He thinks the President’s policies are good, just that his tone needs to change. It seems like some far right ju-jitsu to claim that the policies are worth defending, and as such, giving him air time over musician Joe Walsh seems like a misuse of our collective rare and prescious consciousness.

  18. - Bogey Golfer - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:27 am:

Voted for Joe the politician, based solely on entertainment value.

  19. - NoNameNick - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:27 am:

Heard enough from wackadoodle Walsh. Can always enjoy some rocker Walsh..

  20. - tweed - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:27 am:

I mean life’s been good to me so far, just slaps. it’s a good jam.

  21. - NIU Grad - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:29 am:

To his credit, he’s going to get more national attention than any other Illinois Republican at the moment… *shrug*

  22. - Stones - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:30 am:

I voted Rocker Joe Walsh. Life in the Fast Lane. Come to think of it you could cover both with A Life of Illusion.

  23. - Miss Marie - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:30 am:

I chose B. If the options were listen to the former rep speak or nails on a chalkboard, I’d still choose B.

I don’t want to give him any format to be heard. And I don’t want to add to his delusion that he’s still relevant.

  24. - Dance Band on the Titanic - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:30 am:

Joe Walsh (the musician) ran for president in 1980. “Free gas for everyone” was his part of his campaign platform. He ***obviously*** wasn’t taken seriously.

Joe Walsh (the politician) will meet the same fate in 2020 as his namesake met in 1980.

  25. - Mark - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:30 am:

the musician by far. The riffs are hotter

  26. - illinifan - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:34 am:

    Music. Better than reformed crazy.

  27. - XonXoff - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:35 am:

    Musician Walsh. Funk 49 is a smile-maker.

  28. - Because I said so.... - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:39 am:

The musician is a more entertaining kind of crazy and his guitar playing is exceptional.

  29. - Skeptic - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:42 am:

“== Rocky Mountain way is better than the way we had. ==

This was played much better than mine. Kudos.”

“Pick up the dog doo, hope that it’s hard.”
If that’s not a classic lyric, then I don’t know what is.

  30. - Sayitaintso - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:51 am:

Musician, but I’d like to see Scarmucci jump in to primary Trump. I’d like to see Trump go Full Bonkers in hopes that a tipping point of former backers say they’ve had enough, and dump him. He is everything his critics say he is….now more and more Republicans are agreeing - its not too late.

  31. - Lake County Mom - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 9:56 am:

Not all garbage should be recycled.

  32. - Downstate Dem - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:01 am:

I voted for the music just because of not wanting to hear any more about Joe Walsh the politician.

  33. - Gruntled University Employee - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:01 am:

The musician, but only if you play ILBT’s.

  34. - Dan Johnson - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:03 am:

Politician — he has been among the most principled conservatives in the last three years to call out the President’s authoritarian tendencies, relentless coverups and constant lies. Just constant lies.

I know most elected Republicans are conflicted (to say the least) about President Trump and I really appreciate Joe Walsh for embracing his party and his convictions. I hope he joins Bill Weld and gives the millions of Republican voters an opportunity to for the first time tell the President his conduct is unbecoming of the office (without voting for a Democrat in November for those who can not do that).

  35. - Amalia - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:09 am:

Joe Walsh said that when he met the Beatles, he told them how long it took him to get the complex guitar riffs correct when he played their music. They responded that they had multi tracked. Dude is awesome on guitar. Chicago Fest, oh, I remember you Joe Walsh. can’t get enough of any of HIS work.

  36. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:09 am:

===without voting for a Democrat in November for those who can not do that===

Then they’re not conflicted, because in the end, it’s “Russia Before Democrat” kinda thinking.

    In the time of Trump it can’t be any simpler;

If you are with Trump, you are. The racist, xenophobic “King of… “ who is more concerned Russia is not in the G8 than Russia meddling in our country and elections, and a man who praises dictators and brutal regimes while attacking our allies for speaking truth about Trump.

    Nope.

    No conflicted feelings. Sorry.

If you are aiding and abetting Trump, vote for Trump, decide to “smorgasbord” Trump, you aren’t conflicted, you support this President.

  37. - Hyperbolic Chamber - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:12 am:

Which one put out “The Smoker You Drink the Player You Get”?

  38. - Streator Curmudgeon - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:12 am:

Voted for option D, videos from the movie “Monte Walsh,” featuring Isabella Rosellini.

  39. - Hyperbolic Chamber - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:15 am:

“They say I’m crazy, but it takes all my time”

  40. - A guy - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:15 am:

Nothing rankles Joe Walsh the politician (small p, really small) than indifference.
Soar like an Eagle on this one.

  41. - benniefly2 - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:21 am:

Unless the story is about how the politician finally paid all of the child support that he owes, I will always choose the musician.

  42. - Dr Kilovolt - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:23 am:

    Musician, please! Life’s Been Good.

Why does anybody give one-term Congressman Walsh any airtime or attention? I went to one of his town halls once. He handles a crowd well, but is unapologetic about his seriously wacked and even offensive views. The idea that he is now presenting himself as a Republican voice of reason is laughable, but also indicative of how far things have fallen toward fascism, jingoism, and graft in the Trump era.

Does anyone know if he is still a deadbeat dad like he was when he ran, and was somehow able to loan his campaign money even though he claimed he didn’t have enough to pay child support?

  43. - Walsh2020 - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:23 am:

Politician. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

  44. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:27 am:

===Soar like an Eagle on this one.===

Man, come on. I had a rough night and I hate the effin’ Eagles, man.

  45. - Lefty Lefty - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:40 am:

I voted for the politician. More snark potential, including clever post titles like:

Walsh living a life of illusion

Walsh has a rocky mountain way to the White House

Walsh will have all night long to think about his primary thrashing

  46. - A guy - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:43 am:

    47, lol

  47. - CubsFan16 - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:46 am:

I voted politician, as I still can’t quite understand how Walsh went from Trump fanatic to never Trump. Also, does someone like that run against Trump because they are serious or because they are bored?

  48. - A Jack - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:47 am:

Musician, especially from The James Gang. Politician Joe Walsh should just “Walk Away.”

  49. - Huh? - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:52 am:

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is just another enemy.

Abstained from voting because the poll didn’t have an “other” option. Can’t stand the guy.

  50. - ash - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 10:52 am:

The musician — actually has something to contribute.

  51. - SpfdNewb - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 11:04 am:

Musician, and now I need to watch The Warriors again for an amazing soundtrack

Rocky Mountain way is better than the way we had.

    ^^^ This

And an odd fact: Arsenio Hall was once asked his favorite song of all time and he said Rocky Mountain Way because he loved that weird mouth thing that Joe uses.

  54. - Gruntled University Employee - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 11:45 am:

If I ever hit it big in the lottery I’m gonna buy a Maserati and order a personalized tag that says 185 just to see if anyone gets the joke.

“My debts where mounting and I couldn’t pay.
I got elected to make them go away.”

  56. - Boone's is Back - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 12:28 pm:

Methinks Rich knew the answer to the QOTD before he posted it…

  57. - Pundent - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 12:57 pm:

Politician Joe Walsh? Seems to me, you don’t want to talk about it.

  58. - SpfdNewb - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 2:45 pm:

-If I ever hit it big in the lottery I’m gonna buy a Maserati and order a personalized tag that says 185 just to see if anyone gets the joke.-

Every cop will take your license, just so you don’t drive…

  59. - A guy - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 3:34 pm:

As of 3:30, there are 87 dudes who either don’t have any sense of humor, or have a huge one. Just don’t know which. (respectful shoulder shrug spasm)

  60. - JoanP - Thursday, Aug 22, 19 @ 4:45 pm:

It’s truly frightening to consider that Walsh sounds saner than Trump.
