I am deeply ashamed of my actions. I take full responsibility. And I apologize to the people of Illinois and most importantly to the constituents that I have served over the last 17 years.
- Norville Rogers - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:26 pm:
How about an apology for all the honest advocates who has to endure shakedown attempts and then watch their issues die because they didn’t capitulate?
- Wylie Coyote - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:27 pm:
Got a nice haircut for his hearing…
- Just Me - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:30 pm:
Dude, get lost. You’re not sorry for your actions, you’re sorry you got caught. You didn’t serve your constituents for 17 years, you clearly served yourself. This wasn’t a one-time poor judgement, this was on purpose for a very long time.
- Because I said so.... - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:30 pm:
Ashamed he got caught.
- Langhorne - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:30 pm:
Deeply ashamed……once caught.
He slept comfortably for years while scamming more than a lot of people have set aside for retirement. Typical of a bully, quick to sing.
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:35 pm:
The puffery and grandeur gone, the bully, the blowhard stands repentant because he was caught, not because morality within him won out.
- Hard D - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:37 pm:
That guy barely gave anyone the time of day for the last 17 years. The only thing he’s sorry about is getting caught and going to jail for a long time.

===What do you think?===
Baloney.
- Marty36 - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:50 pm:
It takes alot to publicly apologize for being fool. Imagine if Trump apologized for anything?
- Rudy's teeth - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:51 pm:
Wonder if Marty will pre-order tailored prison garb from Duru’s on LaSalle?
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:51 pm:
Expecting Sandoval to be honest and truthful now after being deceitful and corrupt for as long as the plea says…
What do i think?
It’s cheesy tuna, served as baloney.
- Cubs in '16 - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:52 pm:
Maybe he learned from Blago that contrition just might get you a lighter sentence.
- RIJ - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:55 pm:
Better than the even more dishonest and insulting non-apology of “I’m sorry if you were offended” or version thereof.
- Montrose - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 2:57 pm:
FBI madlibs come in so handy in these situations:
“I am deeply [PAST TENSE GROVELING VERB] of my actions. I take [ADJECTIVE THAT CONVEYS BIGNESS] responsibility. And I apologize to the people of [STATE] and most importantly to the [GROUP OF PEOPLE YOU SHOULD CARE ABOUT] that I have [PAST TENSE VERB INDICATING WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THOSE PEOPLE] over the last [NUMBER] years.”
- Practical Politics - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 3:31 pm:
Remember when Sandoval was at MWRD?

- Former Springfield - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 3:37 pm:
Why didn’t someone turn him in years ago?
- Monadnock Pigeon - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 3:46 pm:
Montrose FTW (banned punctuation)
- Randolph House - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 3:47 pm:
Sometimes everything works out as it should.
He’s deserving of this award.
- Chicago Cynic - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 3:52 pm:
I am deeply ashamed that I got caught. Someone as experienced as me should have shown greater finesse. For this, I apologize to everyone whose schemes I may have disrupted.
- Under Further Review - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 4:49 pm:
Legendary for bullying people, a blowhard of the highest order. For a man of low intellect and moral standards, oddly arrogant.
Like most bullies in history . . . . .glass chin.
- Sue - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 4:50 pm:
Where do I go for my $150 refund and fees for the stupid driving class after being issued a red light camera ticket
- SSL - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 6:27 pm:
People knew he was dirty and had the morals of a jackal. Okay, I apologize to jackals everywhere, that was uncalled for. But as Former Springfield said above, why wasn’t he outed sooner? It gets to a point where people start to paint with a broad brush, because outside of the Feds, nothing happens to schmucks like Marty. 17 years of ripping people off. He’ll only sing to save his own neck, not because he feels any remorse or responsibility.
- SouthSide Markie - Tuesday, Jan 28, 20 @ 7:04 pm:
Give the guy a little credit. He could have just done the same perp walk out of the building like everone else. He could have just issued a statement through his attorney, like everyone else. Instead, he faced cameras and said “Sorry”. What he did was wrong, but I give him a small measure of credit for this.
