Rich, how are you and the team at Capitol Fax World Headquarters handling the whole social distancing thing? Is Oscar telecommuting?

  2. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:22 am:

“Try to keep it light and fun if you can.”

Yeah…. To keep our mind off the world’s problems, let’s all take in a game of basketball or watch a Tom Hanks movie….

  3. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:26 am:

Won’t you be my socially distanced neighbor?

  4. - OneMan - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:28 am:

Huskies start their quest to make the NCAA Tourny today…

  5. - OneMan - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:29 am:

So I now have a green screen for video conferencing so people don’t need to see the tarp between my lathe and my desk.

Suggestions for an image to put on the green screen.

    Snark encouraged.

The new Waco Brothers album is really good.

And as of this writing, you can catch them on Saturday at the Hideout’s ‘Exiled From Austin’ showcase.

I’m honestly not upset that Springfield is still having their St Patrick’s day. Everyone needs a little Guinness and Jameson right now

  10. - Rutro - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:31 am:

I’ve been noodling the potential depressed turnout & increase in voting by mail, any thoughts as to who it helps/hurts?

  11. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:32 am:

-Suggestions for an image to put on the green screen.-

Cats and lasers, or an isolation tent, depending on your mood. Mordor would also be appropriate.

    - OneMan -

Maybe a video on a loop of Union Station terminal, grand hall, full capacity, like you are in a mass of people.. that’ll throw ‘em

With everything going on, or not, good excuse to stay home and clean the crib, top to bottom.

  15. - WH Mess - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:39 am:

    RE Depressed turnout:
    –students sent home, helps Biden
–no nursing home polling places, helps Sanders

Probably a wash. I’m voting today at the county because County Clerk hasn’t said yet if/where they are moving my multi-precinct senior home location

  16. - former southerner - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:43 am:

A creative song writer could put together an interesting parody using Meatloaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” song given the possible original source of COVID 19. I suspect quite a few people are going to have a lot of time on their hands over the next few weeks.

  17. - Say What? - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:44 am:

No fans at the Big Ten Tournament started a day too late. Fans should not have been subjected to that Northwestern performance in person.

  18. - John Lopez - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:46 am:

    A suspended NBA season.

An NCAA March Madness w/o spectator

An election night w/o large parties

    It’s a new world.

  19. - Give Me A Break - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:46 am:

Without crowd noise the the sound of Duke players flopping on the floor will be deafening.

  21. - Fun - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:51 am:

Speaking of fun…I hope they can reschedule the always fun Sullivan Caucus when we can all gather together again!

  22. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:55 am:

This is a good opportunity to watch, maybe in one sitting the complete, chronologically ordered “Godfather”, both parts.

It’s 7+ hours, worth every minute.

  23. - Colin O'Scopy - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:56 am:

    Ah ah ah choooo….sorry.

  24. - Sayitaintso - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 9:57 am:

As a practicing Introvert, I’ve been ahead in the “Social Distancing” trend for many decades. So you’s can now join the party. But keep your distance.

  25. - The Bashful Raconteur - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 10:05 am:

Over/under on session end. Yes indeed, my April 30 bet is looking ill-advised. Maybe, just maybe they come back Mar 24 get the big stuff done by April 2 and call it a day. But leave option for special session open.

  26. - Bourbon Street - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 10:41 am:

Now that social distancing is acceptable, we no longer have to feel guilty about binge watching our favorite shows. No need to come up with lame excuses as to why we don’t want to go to some event when we’d rather sit in our easy chairs with our beverage of choice and see what Tony or Walter or the Baltimore detectives are up to. Please excuse me while I dig out Season One of “Breaking Bad”.

  27. - RNUG - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 10:44 am:

I need to do other stuff, like paint and clean house, but this will probably be a time to catch up on my reading. I have a stockpile of assorted mysteries that will keep me busy for a few weeks. And if I go through all those, I’ve got almost all the old Perry Mason paperbacks stashed away in the garage that I was going to read someday.

  28. - Birds on the Bat - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 10:47 am:

Without crowd noise the sound of Duke players flopping on the floor will be deafening.

Coach K’s constant whining may drown them out a bit.

  29. - Jocko - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 11:03 am:

Hinsdale high schools are closed. I’m thinking they might remain so until after spring break (4/6)

  30. - Six Degrees of Separation - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 11:27 am:

Telecommuting today, and I must admit that combined with a little less workload than normal allowed me to sneak on here for this moment. Question for the still-working crowd…how many extra years do you think you may have to work to recover your 401k savings? I am hoping 0 to 1.

  31. - RNUG - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 11:43 am:

Got my census letter in the mail today. The instructions were in 13 different languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, Polish, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese and Japanese.

That got me to wondering how they decided on printing instructions in those 13 languages?

  32. - RNUG - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 11:47 am:

Somewhat related … over a month ago, I ordered some cases for the grandkids new tablets. Almost immediately I got the shipping notice. Today I finally got delivery … from China to California, then shipped from California to here.

  33. - JoanP - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 1:12 pm:

    @RNUG -

Looking at those languages, I expect it’s because those are the most commonly spoken foreign languages here.

  34. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Mar 12, 20 @ 2:09 pm:

-I expect it’s because those are the most commonly spoken foreign languages-

Right. Census Bureau says those cover 99% of US households and they provide support for a few dozen more as well.
