RE Depressed turnout:
–students sent home, helps Biden
–no nursing home polling places, helps Sanders
Probably a wash. I’m voting today at the county because County Clerk hasn’t said yet if/where they are moving my multi-precinct senior home location

A creative song writer could put together an interesting parody using Meatloaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” song given the possible original source of COVID 19. I suspect quite a few people are going to have a lot of time on their hands over the next few weeks.
As a practicing Introvert, I’ve been ahead in the “Social Distancing” trend for many decades. So you’s can now join the party. But keep your distance.

Over/under on session end. Yes indeed, my April 30 bet is looking ill-advised. Maybe, just maybe they come back Mar 24 get the big stuff done by April 2 and call it a day. But leave option for special session open.

Now that social distancing is acceptable, we no longer have to feel guilty about binge watching our favorite shows. No need to come up with lame excuses as to why we don’t want to go to some event when we’d rather sit in our easy chairs with our beverage of choice and see what Tony or Walter or the Baltimore detectives are up to. Please excuse me while I dig out Season One of “Breaking Bad”.
I need to do other stuff, like paint and clean house, but this will probably be a time to catch up on my reading. I have a stockpile of assorted mysteries that will keep me busy for a few weeks. And if I go through all those, I’ve got almost all the old Perry Mason paperbacks stashed away in the garage that I was going to read someday.

Without crowd noise the sound of Duke players flopping on the floor will be deafening.
Coach K’s constant whining may drown them out a bit.
Hinsdale high schools are closed. I’m thinking they might remain so until after spring break (4/6)

Telecommuting today, and I must admit that combined with a little less workload than normal allowed me to sneak on here for this moment. Question for the still-working crowd…how many extra years do you think you may have to work to recover your 401k savings? I am hoping 0 to 1.
Got my census letter in the mail today. The instructions were in 13 different languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, Polish, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese and Japanese.
That got me to wondering how they decided on printing instructions in those 13 languages?
Somewhat related … over a month ago, I ordered some cases for the grandkids new tablets. Almost immediately I got the shipping notice. Today I finally got delivery … from China to California, then shipped from California to here.

Rich, how are you and the team at Capitol Fax World Headquarters handling the whole social distancing thing? Is Oscar telecommuting?

Yeah…. To keep our mind off the world’s problems, let’s all take in a game of basketball or watch a Tom Hanks movie….

So I now have a green screen for video conferencing so people don’t need to see the tarp between my lathe and my desk.
Suggestions for an image to put on the green screen.
Snark encouraged.

I’ve been noodling the potential depressed turnout & increase in voting by mail, any thoughts as to who it helps/hurts?

Cats and lasers, or an isolation tent, depending on your mood. Mordor would also be appropriate.

Looking at those languages, I expect it’s because those are the most commonly spoken foreign languages here.

Right. Census Bureau says those cover 99% of US households and they provide support for a few dozen more as well.
