Also, I believe I have standing to denounce — yes, denounce — Rich for hypocrisy. We have to be Illinois-centric, yet he can wander the far reaches of the interwebs to delight in Iowa poultry. Unfair. UNFAIR.
Both Channel 20 (last night) and the SJ-R are both in mourning over the possibility of no State Fair this year. Already stories about the economic fallout of no State Fair this year:
It will be interesting to see the occurrences of such incidents across the nation since businesses may not be able to collect insurance for lost income. Not indicating this is a planned incident, but there could be such in the future for those who feel as though they’ve lost everything otherwise. Other crime increases may become prevalent too.

Haven’t been to the State Fair in a decade. Last time, it was obvious the under-funding / neglect of the Blagojevich / Filan / Quinn era had traduced it from the State Fair to the NEWT County Fair.
Uh, is the story of the exploding Rhadamanthus (who was named, presumably, for one of the judges of the Underworld) some sort of a metaphor? What am I missing?
Feel like I’m getting off to a peckish start here.

There was a fire earlier this morning at the Club Station House bar (and upstairs apartments) in Springfield. Across from the Amtrak station.
That is the site that last year Langfelder was targeting for demolition (along with the dilapidated city parking deck) for a proposed hotel:
