The Democratic Party of Illinois today released a video featuring elected officials and other party leaders from across the state thanking frontline workers for their immense sacrifice during this public health crisis. Illinois Democratic leaders took a minute while staying home to thank the doctors, nurses, pharmacy and grocery store workers, delivery drivers, truck drivers, postal workers and so many more for their courage and dedication in this uncertain time.
“Frontline workers are making countless sacrifices every day to protect Illinois residents,” Michael J. Madigan, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois, said. “We owe these workers not only our thanks, but also our respect and support as they put in long hours, many times away from their own families. They are the heroes in this fight.”
F. There’s nothing in this video offering any substantive governmental action or relief for essential workers, which makes the effusive statements of thanks ring worse than hollow.
I suspect it won’t belong before the Eastern Bloc starts rumors related to Mike Madigan’s last public appearance — but Madigan’s absence also might confuse them that the Democratic Party of Illinois isn’t operated as a personality cult in the same fashion that their political party is.
With the amount of money they spent mailing people election materials with Mike Madigan’s face on them, one might think they really have a thing for him.
It’s everything a thank you should be, no politics to them… it’s in contrast to the angry eastern bloc types… who are concerned Olive Gardens aren’t open for seating.
Rate it an A. Simple, direct, no political grandstanding or blaming. God Bless every frontline worker and please help us manufacture enough tests and PPe to protect them and the rest of us.
Sounds like the North Korea parades. Intelligence watches to see who does and who does not. I guess that’s like a St. Pats day parade in Illilois

Very nice. Wouldn’t it be great if we saw more of these kind of videos and less of the crazy right wingers with their confederate flags and their assault rifles? I think the Illinois republican party video will probably feature a lot of their buddies in the combat gear.

It was a nice gesture. I didn’t care for the happy background music though.

Hunh??
Shockingly light on Latinx speakers—only one, right— especially given the affect of the pandemic on that community.

I didn’t see too many frumpy white guys.

Video is a nice touch. It’s what leaders should do. Madigan is a lost soul and apparently has lost souls advising him. I don’t want to hear about how he doesn’t have any of the right equipment to make a short video. He chose not to do this. A very sad statement on his leadership.

=== No Madigan in the vid?===
He’ll get his screen time with the Eastern Bloc “angry” video?

Chuck Goudie was apparently not available to film the Speaker’s segment.

A-
Just gratitude for our frontline heroes, no politics, no Trump

He tried to do a selfie with the fax machine but sadly it didn’t work.

I’ll give is an A-. It’s a nice gesture. No preckwinkle either.

Madigan’s staying home, he doesn’t have a cell phone, you think he’s got the electronics to do a video?
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, May 12, 20 @ 4:06 pm:
It’s a solid “A-“

Madigan doesn’t have a computer with a camera on it at home. Even if he did, the dial up internet access wouldn’t transmit it quick enough.

When was the last time MJM was seen in public?
Surprised I have not seen any conspiracies about that the way right-wingers make them up these days about so many other Dems of a certain age.
- Lazy Eye - Tuesday, May 12, 20 @ 4:30 pm:
Precinct Captain, could be because Senate Dems did a similar video a few weeks ago.
