Mail-in ballot here we come.
- Pearly - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 2:34 pm:
It’s time to go full mail-in, permanently. Saves money? Check. Safer? Check. Already fully implemented successfully in several other states for years? Check.
There’s no good arguments against it.
- Bruce (no not him) - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 2:35 pm:
“or other disasters”
That opens up all things Illinois.

So property tax relief would be a “no”…
- Candy Dogood - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 2:37 pm:
It would be interesting to see how state wide automatic voting by mail would impact our state house and senate elections.

Local governments are already going to be teetering on the verge of bankruptcy. How do you propose they maintain schools, parks, and police departments without even less revenue?
- fs - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 2:40 pm:
“Economic recovery” can include a lot of things

Ballot harvesting is a problem. Case in Arizona is head to SCOTUS of

You’re planning on voting for the Fair Tax amendment, right?
- RNUG - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 3:17 pm:
== Ballot harvesting is a problem. ==
That is my one concern. Mrs RNUG and I have voted by mail before, and have no problems doing so again.
IMO,there need to be criminal, not civil, repeat criminal penalities against ballot harvesting and / or tampering. Said penalities should include forfiture of any position won if it can be clearly PROVEN the campaign committee or other paid staff were involved. Maybe that is overly harsh, but I want to insure the integrity of any election.
- RNUG - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 3:21 pm:
Another thought re mail in voting … if we are changing to mail in and banning harvesting, we need to also change to an open primary with the top 2 or 3 primary winners advancing to the general election. Note: I said top voter getters, NOT top candidates from each party. THAT will be tough for the established parties to swallow.

Bi-partisan caution on mail-in ballots..
“A 2005 commission led by President Jimmy Carter and James A. Baker III — George W. Bush’s secretary of state — concluded that these ballots “remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.”

Donald Trump votes by mail in… so there’s that, lol

“Just seven, I repeat, SEVEN topics only.
And anything else I will gladly make sure it gets over to the Rules Committee.”
- Candy Dogood - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 4:36 pm:
I do wonder if there has been any major technological changes in the last 15 years that should be considered when reviewing a report written 15 years ago with the two named commission leaders having been born in the 1920s and 1930s respectively.

RNUG,
3:17 and 3:21.
Restaurant quality, sir. Restaurant quality.

You want California’s “Jungle Primary” (the official name is “nonpartisan blanket primary”).

- Lynn S. - Wednesday, May 13, 20 @ 10:42 pm:
@ Anyone Remember,
I’m in favor of the jungle primary. It would help the Republican party figure out just how irrelevant they have become in Illinois.
- Mama - Thursday, May 14, 20 @ 12:45 am:
The thing with mail-in ballots is not knowing if your ballot is actually counted. They can throw away the ballots they don’t like and no one would know unless there is a lot of oversight.
