Texas and Arizona have also set records. New York coronavirus cases have been way down. Gov. Cuomo and two other regional governors announced a travel advisory requiring a 14-day quarantine period for travelers coming from states that are COVID-19 hotspots, including Arizona, Texas and Florida. Gives a new perspective to a popular Trump campaign chant: build the wall. - lake county democrat - Wednesday, Jun 24, 20 @ 3:03 pm: I’m a worry wort - I realize it’s trivial compared to the early-open states, but it seems we’ve been in the 600’s for new cases for a while now - hope this is just a “normal fluctuation.” I’d be fine with a weaker version of what Washington state did today and making it a misdemeanor not to wear a mask indoors (with exceptions for things like bars/restaurants/health clubs). - DownSouth - Wednesday, Jun 24, 20 @ 3:15 pm: I was ridiculed today for refusing to attend an in person NGO board meeting at a local establishment. Two of the board members that I was expected to sit across the table from had just returned Sunday from week long vacation in a FL hot spot. The establishment where it is to be held has not honored a single Phase 3 guideline and has taken great pride in not doing so. We’re still in the first wave. - Pundent - Wednesday, Jun 24, 20 @ 4:04 pm: I’m not optimistic that we’ll see professional contact sports for the balance of the year and I would include football in that analysis. Too many states have adopted a herd immunity approach and that will only cause the number of cases to rise. The NBA suspended their season after a single positive test and are certainly going to increased cases if they resume in Florida. Baseball we’ll have to contend with any number of states spiking and the potential risk for players will likely outweigh the benefits of playing a truncated season. - Lynn S. - Wednesday, Jun 24, 20 @ 4:51 pm: Pundent, I seem to recall news stories over the last week -10 days about 20+ college football players (Clemson or LSU) and some professional baseball players testing positive for Covid-19. I’ve been missing my Cubbies. I’ve been missing watching them play on a big screen at a local tavern, with something of limited nutritional value from the bar’s kitchen in front of me.
