While your first term, your first two years, hasn’t been in any ordinary times of governing, do you think being an outsider of government helped in these past 7 months of crisis management?

Given the tsunami of evidence showing the effectiveness of masks in preventing COVID-19 transmission, why won’t the state strictly enforce its mask mandates?
What is your plan to meet the needs of Illinois and the pension debt if the tax proposal fails, and no further funding is received from the Federal government?
What is the one thing you wish you could be working on right now, but you just don’t have the time or resources to focus on? What is being crowded out by COVID?
In addition to the progressive tax, which by itself will barely cover the state’s structural budget deficit, what other potential revenue streams have you identified to address the growing unfunded pension and benefits liability?
How will you work with all four caucuses to determine which paintings and statutes will be removed from state properties due to the wishes of some who find them offensive? What standards will you use to make final decisions?
The impacts of the Coronavirus include cultural and technological changes some of which could potentially improve state government efficiencies. As Illinois emerges from this pandemic, what plan do you have to assess and make improvements to state and local government structure and operations.
You’ve talked a lot about how others may be experiencing mental health struggles during all of this. Personally, how have you coped with the immense stress and changes due to the pandemic and what advice have you given staff, friends, and family during this tough time?
What Lake County Democrat said about the mask mandates.
The messaging on this point is still off. The CDC leaders talk about always wearing a mask outside your home. When the Governor says it’s ok to not wear one if you can socially distance, people think “Oh, I can socially distance most of the time,” so they don’t wear it, or wear it under their chin. That’s not good enough in any urban area or suburban downtown or shopping area. In fact, I just saw people walking into a post office in suburban Chicago without a mask on.
The message needs to be “Wear a mask outside your home”, at least in any urban or suburban area. And there should be fines specified — and at least some enforcement.
Any ideas for workers in Illinois who are not lucky enough to be on public payrolls and will never be able to retire with guaranteed 3% cola increases? Can we buy into the state system at the same rate ?
When the stay at home order first was instituted we saw numerous PSAs about staying home. Will Illinois be doing the same thing with mask wearing using IL celebrities/sports figures? What other steps will Illinois be doing to continue to promote mask wearing and stressing the importance of wearing masks to the widest population possible?
Do you ever come home at the end of the day and look in the mirror and say to yourself. Self why didn’t I just stay in business and leave this political stuff alone?
Why do you call on “advocacy journalists” at your press events? Their questions mangle the truth so badly it is hardly recognizable. As a voter I’d be better informed if you instead called on Mark Maxwell and “journalists” of his kind.
How will the state provide/redirect funds to full time working parents who are not able to support their children’s elearning, thus requiring childcare, when schools opt for an elearning/hybrid plan? Up to 70% of line items in school budgets are no longer applicable with remote plans, so can those funds be redirected to working parents?
Illinois boasts over 2 million tests now, but it was discovered in Rhode Island that as many as 1/4 of tests were duplicates, people such as health care workers being retested.
