Illinois Gov. Pritzker is one of the top contributors to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin

Monday, Nov 2, 2020 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Lynn Sweet

With Illinois not in play in the presidential contest, Gov. J.B. Pritzker has emerged as one of the biggest donors to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin — in a crucial battleground state that could help tip the White House to Donald Trump or Joe Biden. […]

On the federal side, $2,256,300 to the Senate Majority PAC and various giving to help elect House Democrats: $256,300 total to Nancy Pelosi Victory Fund; $1 million to the House Majority PAC and $259,100 total to the Cheri Bustos Victory Fund. Bustos is the chair of the Democratic House political operation.

Pritzker also gave $1.5 million to Priorities USA Action, a main pro-Biden super PAC, and $721,300 to the Biden Victory Fund, which was dispersed to a variety of swing state Democratic parties.

On the state party front, Pritzker gave $250,000 to the Michigan Democratic State Central Committee and $2,525,000 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Federal Account.

Quentin Fulks, Pritzker’s top political adviser said, “Wisconsin is the closest battleground state in the Midwest” and Pritzker “wanted to ensure that Trump did not win there.”

Emphasis added.

He should have given them the money to fight the virus at the border.

That way we would be better here in IL.

Yeah, maybe in 8 years… as Pritzker donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to Biden.

The goal of the exercise is to stop Trump.

I guess Sheldon Adelson is going to run on the Trump side next?

Too bad all of that money, or even half, can’t be contributed to help Illinois residents.

  5. - Really - Monday, Nov 2, 20 @ 8:48 am:

Illinois is in deep financial trouble, he is begging for more tax dollars, and he is donating money out of state. I get why, but wouldn’t that money be better spent helping folks that he actually governs?

=I get why, but wouldn’t that money be better spent helping folks that he actually governs?=

If Wisconsin goes for Biden he is helping Illinois.

  7. - Cheryl44 - Monday, Nov 2, 20 @ 9:09 am:

I don’t see anything here that says he hasn’t made contributions Illinois charities, only that he’s given money outside the state to defeat Donald Trp. IMO that’s the best way to help everyone.

== wouldn’t that money be better spent helping folks that he actually governs ==

You help the people of Illinois by getting Trump out of the White House, and the places in question are Wisconsin and Michigan, not Illinois.

I agree that money could of helped laid off workers , I returned to the work force after an injury. Can`t believe people can survive on minimal wage

The best way to help Illinois is to ensure the defeat of Donald Trump.

You either understand the Covid catastrophe can only be ended with federal assistance - financial and logistical - or you don’t. Pritzker obviously does.

And, I’m sure I just missed your lamentations about how the money Ken Griffin and Dick Uihlein have given to various GOP causes in Illinois and elsewhere could have helped Illinoisans instead.

Working to elect a president who doesn’t consider our state his personal enemy is the best possible investment that JB Pritzker could make for the residents of Illinois.

Nailed it. Defeating Trump means defeating the virus and starting to regain our soul as a nation.

  16. - Lucky Pierre - Monday, Nov 2, 20 @ 10:36 am:

I think the feeling is mutual Mr JM

JB has been the most partisan Governor compared to other big blue state leaders

The point being that folks like JB and Griffin have more than enough money to pay higher taxes, make charitable contributions, and donate to political campaigns. They aren’t hurting now and they won’t be hurting when the fair tax is in place.

    Lucky Pierre,

Pritzker has been a sweet heart compared to Cuomo. And apparently Trump must consider Michigan’s gov to be a special thorn in his side given he keeps poking at her.

  21. - 1st Ward - Monday, Nov 2, 20 @ 11:45 am:

“Someone has an eye on the Presidency”

JB will never be President. Democrats will not elect a trust-fund billionaire with deep ties to financial services industry to represent the national party. He is the poster boy for a wealth tax.

Don’t forget, Pat Quinn was one of the top contributors to the Republican Party of Wisconsin.

Curious strategy to bash the Federal government while counting on it to balance your budget

Governing is more complicated than going on MSNBC and CNN and trashing the career people in the Federal government working on the COVID pandemic

LP, that’s just nonsense. This ain’t a dictatorship yet and I do not believe he’s ever bashed career workers, just the top dog.

  26. - PK - Tuesday, Nov 3, 20 @ 3:01 pm:

Pritzker traveled to Wisconsin amid stay-at-home orders in both Wisconsin and Illinois. The “Biggest….” reported on here now really ought to be an insult to the citizens of Wisconsin who actually observed Wisconsin’s urging for residents not to travel and to stay at their primary residence.

    This makes no sense.
